Why wasn't Buddingtonite answering his call?! No matter how many times he tried to contact his partner with his crystal, he recieved no answer. Captain Serpentine could only make a guess, and the guess he made was one he did not like. Perhaps his friend was likewise being pursued this night by a spectre of himself. But without knowing where the confectioner was... the florist could neither offer assistance nor obtain any for himself! He dodged another blow from a whip simultaneously similiar and different from his own. The thing was getting closer and keeping up with his attempts to escape. Serpentine leapt onto the top of a building -- a sports equipment store that he sometimes frequented for soccer supplies. He was trying to head for the soccer fields. An open space would be better for this battle. He would be able to see his double coming and could do better circle tactics. Assuming, of course, he could get there but he never doubted that he could. He was just getting there... more slowly than he anticipated. Shade Serpentine was giving his colorful couterpart a bad name. First, the graywash look did absolutely no justice to either his uniform or his naturally fine features. It made the real Captain sneer all the more as he continued his evasions. The sneer shifted into a scowl when he felt a powerful Senshi nearby. He could be patient and lure one enemy to a better hunting ground... but being outnumbered as well? Were he a superstious man, he would be cursing the name of the eclipse about now. (Note: I have permission from ChibiGingi to establish that Buddingtonite isn't answering.) Sunshine Alouette Hope this start is okay; if not, let me know what to fix and I shall!

It had probably been a stupid idea to go out on patrol on her own.
Ganymede had plenty of experience in running from herself, but she couldn't say she'd ever had an experience quite like this one—literally running from herself. Of course, she'd known the... clone? doppelganger? … whatever it was was out there, and she'd assumed it would eventually come for her if she remained out and about long enough, but it was rather surreal to look over her shoulder and see her own face attached to a body and an outfit that looked... wrong. Grayed out, washed out—a fake.
But still quite real.
Running was embarrassing, but she had enough bumps and bruises and scrapes to attest to the clone's power and skill, and she was so stupid as to stick around when the odds weren't in her favor. She was not proficient enough in combat to handle such a murderous creature on her own. Best to make a run for it and try again some other day.
Or get back-up. Again, she realized, she shouldn't have come out alone, not while all this strange business was going down. But there, on a building up ahead—a Negaverse agent. Captain, by the feel of him. Good. Not quite up to her level but not completely useless either.
Ganymede jumped up onto the roof with her shade close on her heels and did a quick survey of the scene before falling into a defensive position. Her shade followed but slowed when it noticed two other figures, though it continued to smirk and occasionally giggled creepily.
“Having trouble?” she asked the Captain, looking him over briefly as if to try to place him, but nothing about him jogged her memory. “I see they've been giving you people just as much trouble as they've been giving us. Suppose I shouldn't blame you all for them then.”Quicksilver the Archangel

She was a lovely creature. Not as attractive as Serpentine because vanity and pride would not allow any to reach that high of a scale... but lovely. Hair like strands of white gold and bright teal eyes were particularly striking against the bolder red, black and white of her costume. Perhaps a bit tarty for his taste with the extravagent heels and hot pants and flowing bustle - poor decisions not only for looks but for battle gear as well, as far as he was concerned. Yet, the aura and the wings proclaimed her to be a top-ranking Senshi... all the more reason to sneer at the White Moon's efforts. Pointless destruction, and relying on walking porcelain dolls? Sickening. Yet, strangely, not as sickening as the giggling, monochrome version that followed the Eternal soon after. Perhaps because it reminded him too much of the hissing version of himself that landed on the roof right behind the other Shade. Shade Serpentine pushed the newly arrived shadow being aside, not interested in fighting it or the Senshi it mimicked. No, it apparently only had gray-scale eyes for the orginal Serpentine. "Obviously not," the Captain finally retorted, making it clear through his clipped tone and sneer that he thought the Senshi was being absolutely asinine in her questioning. The Negaverse was not in the habit of dispensing creatures that would hurt its own members. He did not want to say anything more because it would mean doing one of the most horrible things he could think of. Work with a Senshi? Instead of trying to destroy it? It went against everything the aloof florist believed in when it came to being a member of the Negaverse, and it made his hands curl into fists resolutely at his sides. But it was the smart strategy... and temporary alliances were just that - temporary. He grit his teeth and did what he knew he had to do. His green whip snapped towards the washed-out version of the Senshi to hold it at bay. If the Senshi was not a twit, she would figure out to do the same with his double.

If only Ganymede had known her appearance could invoke such flattering thoughts in such a corrupt soul, she might have been able to stomach the bad-tempered attitude being presented to her. Alas, she was unable to read minds, and saw nothing on his face but the utmost dislike. Which was fine, of course. He didn't have to like her.
She didn't have to like him either.
“So sociable,” she observed sarcastically, and took a moment to satisfy a streak of immaturity by making a snide face when the Captain made to attack her own shade. So focused on Ganymede had it been that the crack of the whip caused it to jump back in surprise, teetering precariously on the edge of the roof before regaining it's balance and meeting the Captain with an impressive pout.
“Be gentle with her, won't you?” Ganymede joked. Was she joking? She wasn't one for violence, after all. “As much of a pain as this is, I wouldn't want to see myself all bloody and broken and gross. I might get queasy.”
Not that there were very many other alternatives but to fight—except to continue running, but Ganymede knew running would only get her so far.
She was at least quick to catch onto the Captain's plan and left her own shade in his capable hands to instead face his. She was a little wary, as she had little else at her disposal aside from one decent (though admittedly discomfiting) attack. Meanwhile, the Captain's shade had a whip of it's own. Somehow an actual weapon always seemed much more impressive to Ganymede; it certainly made up for the differences in power level in some cases.
She was left then with her hands and feet, which she utilized in a mediocre fashion, lunging forward only to shift and dodge the Shade's whip, twisting to the side and rushing in again to aim a kick toward the Shade's legs.Quicksilver the Archangel

The Negaverse Captain kept his focus on the washed out version of the Senshi making snide commentary. Her words affected him more than he would care to admit. It hurt his ego to help her and hurt even more for him to consider that he needed her help. If she ended up beating his shade before he crushed hers... well, that would likely only cause their alliance to crumble faster so he could avenge the slight. She was correct. He was not sociable. At the moment, they were both engaged in battle and needed each other. Without such necessities... their meeting would have been quite different. It was only when his temporary companion expressed squemishness that he looked her way. Serpentine flashed the Senshi a look that would peel paint. Be gentle? She did not seem serious but if she had time to joke, then she had time to do more than simply dodge around like a Mexican Jumping Bean and land a decent strike. Assuming she could, but how else did she earn her rank if not in battle? Did he truly want to know? Probably not "Then don't look," he growled in response. Serpentine had no intention of holding back. He threw himself forward this time and aimed a punch for the black and white pouting face of the Senshi's Shade. It had nearly tumbled on its heeled boots once. Perhaps he could succeed in causing it to do so again. Shade Serpentine was... confused about this new obstacle in his way. He did raise his hand to whip the Senshi aside, but her sudden impact with his legs made him hit the top of the building with a grunt. His monochrome whip remained tightly clutched in one hand. With the other, he tried to pull himself towards his green-and-gold twin. Apparently one of the traits he had inherited was determination.

Shade Ganymede was too busy pouting and trying to gain sympathy to avoid the punch to the face. She teetered along the edge of the roof again and looked as if she might fall, but instead of toppling over and plummeting to the ground she giggled maniacally and flickered out of sight, only to appear again directly behind the Captain.
“Look out,” the real Sailor Ganymede warned him. She didn't sound too worried (even if she knew she should be), though her voice was firm enough that she hoped the Captain would take her seriously.
“She can use my magic,” she said.
She offered no details. She thought the warning was enough to imply how unpleasant it would be to fall victim to it. Ganymede certainly had no desire to experience it again herself. She could hardly stomach using it on others, especially now that she knew what it felt like after her shade's previous attempt to use it on her. Watching a mockery of herself use her own magic to it's advantage was not something she cared to witness, even upon one of her enemies.
Shade Ganymede lashed out with gloved fingers crooked like claws, her eyes locked onto her counterpart as she attempted to remove the nuisance that was the Negaverse Captain.
Ganymede grimaced, avoiding the Captain's shade's whip. When the shade fell to the floor of the roof she kicked out again to try and knock the whip out of his grasp. The sight of him trying to drag himself along and pull himself closer to the Captain was rather pathetic.Quicksilver the Archangel

Sunshine Alouette OMG so sorry Sunny - I thought I had replied to this! It had seemed so promising. The punch connected beautifully with that cheap knockoff of a perfect doll. Her monochrome heels had been unstable, she had teetered... teetered... and then flickered, as though she had an ability to teleport as well. The only acknowledgement he gave to the colorful Senshi in return for her was a wordless snarl. Naturally it could use magic - if his shade had his weapon, why would hers be any different? Serpentine turned and used an old technique he had relied heavily upon whenever all with which he had to fight was a rubber snake. He halfed the length of his whip by stretching it taut between both of his hands. Then he lunged forward and tried to wrap the the whip around Shade Ganymede's slender throat. Shade Serpentine allowed the kick to the his whip - and as soon as the booted foot came into range he reached out to grab hold of the ankle enclosed within it. Then, as soon as she was down? He could get to his true target.

The hand around her ankle caused her to become unsteady. Ganymede wobbled and teetered much as her Shade had only moments before, but her natural grace saved her from immediately falling. It wasn't until she made an effort to yank her ankle away that she swayed a bit too far and ended up tumbling to the ground with a brief shout followed by a string of muttered curses.
Shade Ganymede giggled at the sight even as the Captain's whip found its way around her neck. Her dull colored eyes slid from the pile of pale blonde hair and red cloth that was the Eternal Senshi and flicked back to the Captain with a mix of amusement and annoyance. The shade was clearly becoming perturbed. But she smirked and refrained from struggling. Rather, she stood there quite calmly and managed to utter through the pressure of the whip, “Searing Passion.”
Her voice was somewhat different than the real Ganymede's—light and airy and grossly cute to go along with the silly way she giggled.
“I told you,” Ganymede said.
She picked herself up as quickly as she could and made a split second decision. It was too late for her to stop her shade from making an attempt at magic, so she placed herself once again between the Captain and the Captain's shade as she faced the grayed-out version and mimicked the false Ganymede. “Searing Passion!”** The enemy is filled with an abstract sense of desire that grows stronger and manifests physically, leading them to feel as if they were burning up on the inside. It peaks after 45 seconds, then fades.Quicksilver the Archangel IT'S OKAY! Hope you don't mind the attack! 8D;; If so, let me know and I can change it~! <333

Serpentine was a man filled with desire even before the magic hit him. The magic simply drew on his innermost feelings. He desired his own apartment again, desired to move out of his flower shop once and for all. He desired to be free of this battle and free of his haphazard alliance with this blonde-haired Kewpie doll. There were other desires, to be promoted, to prove his worth, to protect his looks, and all of them burned bright. It felt like he had taken a long drink of whiskey that someone had then set on fire within his belly and veins. The fire spread to every extremity, and even the stoic Captain couldnot help but shout, his breath coming in ragged pants. Shade Serpentine tried to take advantage of the situatiion. With the colorful woman suitably distracted, he pushed himself to his feet and--then the magic hit him. Soon he was right back to the ground, empty hands clutching at his belly.

Ganymede did not like her magic and did not expect that that would change, but there were moments for it and she supposed this was one of them. She tried not to listen as the Captain shouted but instead focused on the Captain's shade. Whatever these clones were, they were no better than youma in her eyes, and youma could be dealt with. She felt no pity for it, and used its pain as an opportunity to strike.
Pretend it was a monster, she told herself. It might look like the Captain, but it wasn't human like him.
She moved to kick the clone again, aiming the high, painful looking heel of her boot toward the clone's head, though she felt no satisfaction in doing so. Satisfaction was rare, though not entirely unheard of. Rather, she viewed this as duty. She did it because she must, because it was within her power to help, not because she had any desire for power or violence.
Shade Ganymede, like her living counterpart, intended to use the Captain's distraction to her advantage, struggling against the whip that had wrapped around her neck before flickering out of sight again to free herself off it. She reappeared perched on the edge of the rooftop and watched the scene before her, considering. The Captain was but as distraction, but with him there and another shade to get in the way, she would not be able to reach her target as easily. Perhaps it was best to retreat and make another attempt when the Senshi was less occupied.Quicksilver the Archangel

Shade Serpentine tried, desperately, to avoid that kick, but he was too distracted by the fire in his gut. The boot cracked against his skull and sent him rolling across the roof. His colorfol counterpart seized the opportunity to grab hold of him. "Kill. It. Now.." The burning might have hit its peak, but the pain that flowed through him had yet to fade away completely. Serpentine would not back down, would not allow this... imposter to infringe upon his life any longer. It was a petty concern, but what truly most infuriated him was that the Shade bore his face. It cheapened his looks, washed them out in monochrome, and then paraded around as though it were the original and not the copy. He used the anger to give him strength as he pinned his squirming double to the roof. Of one fact he was absolutely sure: this clone would die tonight. Even if he had to endure more hell fire, even if he had to rely on the Senshi succubus to deliver the final blow, Shade Ganymede was not even a concern for him at the moment. No, what he needed now was more primal. He would prove once and for all that there was only one Serpentine.

Shade Ganymede tilted her head at a curious angle and watched with noted interest as the Captain tangled with his shade. For a moment it looked as if she might approach in order to assist her brethren, but a swipe at her legs from Ganymede gave her a start and put a stop to whatever plans had begun to slowly formulate in her little brain.
Indeed, Ganymede was as interested in ending this as the Captain, but could not yet bring herself to respond with such enthusiasm and brutality. It was strange to stare into her own face and see it wear expressions she had never had much experience with (if any), strange to see herself make an attempt on another life (even if that life happened to be her own). She knew not how to feel about it. It wasn't her (that much was obvious), but it represented something to Ganymede.
She was still trying to work out what that something was.
With her shade distracted by its own slow decision making skills, Ganymede returned her focus to the pair of tangling Captains. What was she to do? She had no weapon, and was not comfortable with physical attacks (the Captain seemed to have a handle on that for the time being, at least). All she had at her disposal was her magic, but then she'd already used her only good attack once and she thought both Captains were still under some of the lingering effects. She'd only just made use of it, after all.
But she could use it again. It likely would not be as potent, yet she thought it would be enough. After, when it was done, she would be tired, but not so weak as to be unable to defend herself if need be.
So it was that Ganymede used her magic again, intending to end this little tussle before the situation could grow more severe. “Searing Passion!”**Second verse, same as the first! XD;;; Quicksilver the Archangel

Sunshine Alouette /quote] The monochrome Serpentine had almost over come the burning whenever the fire came again. His screams were not at all contained, high pitched and inhuman as it could do nothing to combat the blaze born of its own desire to replace the colorful version of himself. Ensnared by Ganymede's painful magic, the Shade did not stand a chance. Serpentine was finished playing this game, and he enacted a brutal finishing move. As the Shade screamed, the true Captain finally felt the burning leave his own form. This double, this clone, meant only one thing to him: mockery. Anything that threatened his vanity, his pride, was only a mockery, and such mockeries needed to be dealt with. Permanently. One of his calloused hands grabbed hold of the Shade's chin, and the other pressed down his shoulder. With a quick, efficient SNAP, the Shade's neck was broken. It faded into dust, and the Captain sneered as he rubbed his hands on his pants' leg. One down. One to go. He rose from the top of the roof and summoned the whip to his hand. Their alliance could be over at this point... but the coquettish Shade Senshi had made this matter personal the moment it unleashed its fire. Serpentine sent a crack of the whip towards the false Ganymede.

Though Ganymede managed not to shrink away as her magic took effect again (if she was going to use it, she thought it only right that she forced herself to witness it, so that she would not grow too comfortable with what it could do), the savagery of the Captain toward his own shade disturbed her. She winced, closed her eyes, took a step back, and visibly flinched at the crack of a snapping neck.
Her stomach churned uncomfortably. Swallowing thickly to force down the sickness, Ganymede opened her eyes again only when she was certain she could handle the sight. But the Captain's shade was gone, and Ganymede felt relief wash through her.
Shade Ganymede watched, intrigued, as her brethren was swiftly dealt with. She stared pensively, frowning as the other shade faded from sight, and though her target was close, so close, and seemingly unwilling to take up the fight in a more physical manner, Shade Ganymede knew when the opportunity was lost. She was now outnumbered, and the crack of the whip was enough warning for her that the Captain would not go quite as easily on her as her counterpart did.
Well, there would be other opportunities. Jumping out of range, Shade Ganymede turned with a light, careless laugh, and with one last coquettish glance over a bared shoulder, she flitted away from the scene and out of sight.
Ganymede released a heavy breath once she was gone. “I suppose that's it then,” she said, and paused to study the Captain carefully. “I never did get your name, but then I guess there wasn't much time for that.”Quicksilver the Archangel

Sunshine Alouette Gonna call this an ending post for me! The crack of his whip seemed to chase the Shade of the Senshi away. Just as well - it meant that this alliance could finally come to an end. Although it seemed that she was not willing to let him go without gleaning some information from him. Should he give his name to his enemy? Normally it would not even be a question; he did not care if she knew who he was or not. But this night had not been normal. If it had been, he would have been fighting the red-and-black clothed Senshi before him, and not a grayed out version of himself. "Captain Serpentine," he spat at last, his golden eyes glaring at her. He gave his name for one reason: intimidation. It showed in his follow up hiss, "Next time? I will not hesitate." He needed to say no more. His dust stained hands were enough, he felt, to show what he would not hesitate to do. Beautiful a thing as she may be, she was made to be broken. Without another word, he teleported from the scene.
