Autumn was well and truly here and for the house near the shore, the festive Halloween vibe was strong. Dugan and Iona had explained to their kids what Halloween was, what people did during the Halloween season, and what it meant for them. The household was positively abuzz and seasonal decorations were getting put up. More accurately, Dugan was putting things out and Iona was laying a bunch of newspaper over the dining room table. There were a couple of empty, unused mason jars on the counter, two glue sticks, and a paper bag with some other things set inside.
Once the table was suitably covered, Iona moved the bag, jars, and glue to the table. With that done, she called to the kids. "Niall, Aoife, come see me in the kitchen. I think you'll enjoy what I've got here for you to do."
Aoife had been in the living room, looking at a book of ghost stories and folklore. She left the book on the coffee table and entered the kitchen. "Yes, mama?" The seel moved to stand next to the table, her hands resting on the back of a dining chair. "Ooh, what's this for? Niall, come see!"

"What? Momma, I wanted to see if Linus met the great pumpkin!" Niall protested as he walked into the kitchen. He stopped midcomplaint to study the table. He was just as interested in it as Aoife was.
"What's this, Momma?" He asked. "Are we making something?" He beamed. The great pumpkin forgotten, he took up a gluestick. "What're we making?" He asked. "Momma, make one with us!" The seel boy took Iona's hand with his free one. "Will you? You will won't you?" Daddy was too busy with decorations to make one, Niall knew. And Momma was best at making things.
Or at least, that was Niall's biased opinion.

Iona leaned against the table and smiled. "Don't worry, honey. You'll get a chance to see how it ends. I thought this would be a fun thing to do today." She made a sweeping gesture with a hand across the table. "For the holiday, I thought we could sit down and make some things. The jars can be made into pumpkins or ghosts and the paper plates and yarn there can be used to make spider webs. I bought a little bag spider rings so that there can be spiders in their webs. Sound like fun?"
Aoife listened with rapt attention, when their mother wrapped up, she bobbed on the balls of her socked feet. "Ooh~! It does! Can we get started? Or do we need to get anything else?"
"Nope. We've got everything we need right here. If you two are ready, go ahead and take a seat and we can get started. I'll help you and maybe make a ghost or pumpkin jar of my own."

Niall beamed. If there was one thing he would rather do than find out how something ended, it was spending time with his family. He still favored Iona in a small way. She had been the one to catch him. But his distrust concerning Dug an had quickly faded."Oooh! I want to make a spider web!" He exclaimed, listening to his mother's words. "And a ghost! A nice ghost!"
He took a seat, glancing at Aoife. "What are you going to make?" He asked, excitedly. "A pumpkin or a ghost? Oooh, I know! If we both make ghosts our ghosts can be sister and brother ghosts like us! Or maybe we can both make pumpkins too! They could be friend pumpkins!" The seel boy was thrilled. He was going to be making things with his two favorite people. "Momma, what are you going to make? And Daddy should make one too! Then we can have a momma ghost and a Daddy ghost! A whole ghost family!"
