Nevada switched the runic flashlight on, there was a distinct flicker of candlelight around. It framed her features as she was joined by Gale, Stormy and oddly...Jake. Why was Jake here? Because she kidnapped him and held him hostage in her room.
She was just that good.
"And then Lance told us...." She whispered, "That Julie roams the kitchen, leaving baked goods that could transform you into something.....and then he asked....would you...eat them..." She dropped the flashlight to reach over and tickle Stormy just because.
"But Stormy and I want to explore it, so we totally should." Plus Halloween was coming up. What was better way than to explore a ghost Story?

"Glad you could make it," she greeted them somewhere in between her bestie's explanation, pressing a light kiss to Gale's cheek in greeting and grateful for the lack of light; public displays of affection are hard, you guys. Poor Jake got a sympathetic arm pat instead. Stormy remembered belatedly that he probably didn't remember her, though, as Nevada had debriefed her on his apparent amnesia; it stung, but she restrained the touching and offered the boys a smile.
"Halloween, yes, and because it could be a potential lead," Stormy added with a nod. "With the titans appearing, we ought to be more on guard about the odd happenings at headquarters. This has been happening for a while, right? Maybe we should check it out." And, well, she really wanted to try ghost food okay.
But as silly as their reasoning was, she did remember what little Gale had told her about the former Moon hunter. If her ghost really did still linger at Deus, then maybe this would be a good thing for him to witness--closure of sorts, like how people talked to the gravestones of their loved ones. Or maybe that was just her. Either way, she felt she was justified in literally pulling her boyfriend into this particular investigation.
"We wanted to bring you guys along because safety in numbers!" she explained, hands clasped before her. And because more people meant less awareness of the new chill inside her. "If, uh, you don't mind, that is."

"Then GO. I don't understand why you have to drag me into this."
To say Jake was irritable was an understatement. The blue-haired hunter crossed his arms and sulked. He had no idea who the heck this Julie person was, nor was he interested in sweets, much less in the middle of the night.
Ghost stories. How foolish. What were they, 4?Ol-j-man I posted without seeing your post sorry sldfjsdf

Nevada reached over and pulled at Jake's cheek.
"Don't be like that sour puss. You're coming whether you want to or not, Or I'll make Sherry do something bad...." Or worse, Nevada wouldn't leave you alone FOREVER JAKE.

"YOU LEAVE SHERRY OUT OF THIS." Or wait, no. Why wasn't she here instead? She seemed a lot closer with these buffoons. Besides, that other girl seemed to have her boyfriend with her or something, so HE could protect them.

"I will leave Sherry out of it." Nevada leaned over super close to Jake with a evil glint, "But you're coming with us to check out a ghost." NO ARGUMENT JAKE.

Gale's hand had automatically slipped into Stormy's when he arrived, and now he squeezed her fingers gently, his eyes flickering around the darkened room. He remembered Julie all too well, of course - Julie and her slightly chaotic self and her all-too-cheerful face - but the idea that Julie was somehow ghost-ified and roaming the Deus kitchens?
He sincerely doubted it.
"Jake, glad to see you're as chipper as always."

Stormy simply smiled politely during Jake and Nevada's exchange, careful not to get involved with that one. Another reason she was glad her friend had chosen to nab the Death Hunter was because she had yet to meet with him since The Tear; all she had to go off of was that he had forgotten Sherry. She'd play it safe for now.
"It'll be fun!" she promised Jake, preferring to go the positive reinforcement route rather than Nevada's threatening one. "If nothing's there, then nothing's there and you can yell at me and everything will be boring and fine. If there is something happening, then we'll be the first ones to figure out the mystery!" And clearly that was a prize all its own. And also ghost culinary experimentation~
Returning Gale's hand squeeze, she stepped forward and led them towards the kitchen, practically vibrating with excitement because--"We could be the Mystery Inc. Gang~" Stormy cooed.
Zoobey letting u know we heading on over ouo

The kitchen light was still on and from the hallway a shadow was cast, just that of a small-shaped figure. The aroma from the kitchen smelled like cookies-
- Just for a split second before the kitchen lights flickered and darkened.

Nevada was holding on to Jake, walking in pair behind Gale and Stormy with a grin on her face. Could she imagine a real ghost story on deus? Yeah, yeah she really wanted too.
And she also made sure not to let Jake go in case he decided to do the death thing and sneak out.
"Oh my god..." The smell was sweet, almost deliciously so, cookies. Who had cookies on the Island and weren't sharing. The bastards.
There was a small figure of a shadow playing out, and then it was gone with darkness.
Her voice came out in a rushed, "Oh my god did you see that?" She was shaking Jake's arm.

She was pondering exactly who would be who and why of said Scooby Doo gang when she smelled it: cookies. Oh man, someone had really good tastes, although it was sort of late for a snack.
Stormy thought nothing of the small figure and was just opening her mouth to hail it when the lights went out. Then her mouth clamped shut and she became glad she and Nevada had chosen to bring more people along; Gale's hand recieved an involuntary squeeze as if to remind her that he was there. "Ah, hello?" she called softly, though she pondered the sanity of it; the last time she had tried to engage a ghostly figure had been on the cruise ship, and, well . . . That hadn't gone well. "Julie . . . ?"

If only. "I'm not huge about mysteries and what not." he grumbled, still remembering the whole scene during the death division meeting.
Jake had indeed seen, only frowning harder. This was stupid. "Yah, I see that someone has the case of midnight munchies and Deus has faulty lights, probably from lack of power source after the whole Excalibur thing. What's your point."
Nevada and Stormy would probably make a better death hunter than him.

The lights flickered on in the kitchen again, and on the counter were two trays of freshly baked shortbread cookies. They were still warm to the touch and smelled of winter holidays, gingerbread, and peppermint icing.

Nevada started shaking Jake harder when the lights flickered back on, the smell returned three times as delicious, oddly reminding her of christmas.
"She left us cookies!" Nevada squeaked, slowly moving to inspect them. "Lance said...Lance said if you eat them, something happens to you." She looked up at the group of them, reaching for one of them. "I really want to see." She was like a child with a new toy fresh out of the box.
And she wanted to plaaaaaaaaaaaay.
