Ever since the Destiny City Convention, Scott Erlea had a sudden craving to marathon through as many old Godzilla movies that he could, and given that he had caught up on all of his homework, all of his school projects, and lacked what normal teenagers called a social life, Scott had plenty of time to indulge himself in the classic movie monster that he had shared a lengthy conversation with during the more desirable parts of the event. However, he pretty much marathoned through the old Toho and even finished off the Heisen series, so all that left Scott to watch through was the Millenium series, and some of this was brand new territory for Scott.

He had seen Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla but the rest were a mystery to him, and now was as good a time as any to catch up on them. He found one movie in particular that not only caught his interest, but little Paul's as well, and he couldn't say no when his youngest brother waved the movie called Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack in front of him. One glimpse on the back told Scott that he was in for a treat, and it wasn't too long into the movie that the two of them were realizing they were watching what appeared to be some kind of strange, parallel universe. And for all of the questions that Paul asked, as he sat in his lap, draped under a blanket and his shabby hair tickling his chin every so often when he moved his head, Scott wished he could find an answer for the curious five year old.

"Scott, why does Godzilla look mean?" Paul asked.

"Well, because he's the bad guy in this one."

"Why is he so much bigger in this one?" Paul asked, firing away with all the questions but never once seeming upset or annoyed, and his interest remained glued to the screen in front of him. The same could not really be said for Scott, as he struggled to not only keep up with the movie's plot, but his brother's question. "Why did he kill Baragon? Why's he attacking the city again?"

"Because he's a monster of vengeance in this one, Paul," Scott said, uncertain if he was completely following it but going along with it. What got him the most, though, was when they revealed that King Ghidorah, his absolute favorite of the kaiju, was an Earth guardian in this continuity, and that was just something that didn't settle right with the classic Godzilla fan within him. It made no sense... even in the Heisen when his origins story was changed, he was still considered the villain, and yet, here he was, fighting alongside Mothra to defend the Earth from Godzilla? It just made not sense to Scott, and he tried not to let his fanboy rage get in the way of enjoying the movie.

And yet, for all of his endless questions, Paul seemed okay with the Mothra and King Ghidorah team up, giving a sad gasp when Mothra pushed herself into the path of one of Godzilla's blasts, erupting into flames and passing her energy onto the three-headed dragon. "Look... she's giving him his wings again, Scott. That's cool..."

Scott made a face, and suddenly he wasn't quite sure he liked this movie. What Paul saw was Mothra sacrificing herself to save King Ghidorah, but what Scott saw was a guardian monster that had always been established as such wasting its life for the sake of a monster that had two entire franchises built up with him being the villain, just because some writer thought it would be a good idea to switch around the roles. It just didn't make any sense to Scott, and he sat through the remainder of them film with an unamused look on his face.

Then they ruin the whole thing with badly done CGI... It would figure.

"Yeah," Scott said, too annoyed to argue with a five year old. "Real cool."
