User ImageMorin leaned against the wall and looked at the mess in front of him. He had made the silly promise that he would work on his birth magic more and allow himself to feel emotions again and had been talked into creating a flying carpet. Sure he had created the carpet fine and it flew around according to the orders that he placed on it but like most things he used his magic on it turned out homicidal. So after dodging out of the way and almost being murdered by a carpet, sor had freaked out and set the thing on fire and it had just turned into a total mess.

He glared at the sake dragon before deciding that a very decadent sweet was in order and it was time to watch a movie. Yes Morin did have a lot of modern technology despite being a hermit that never lived in the same place twice. Due to his sealing magic and a bit of his animation magic he had placed a spell on his house that made it constantly move locations, the only ones that could find him if they wanted to was Tanith, his student and Meris who probably placed a magic tracer somewhere on him.

Of course occasionally the deities or something wanted to torment him with company and some one new would come by or he’d run into yun’s descendants. The world was definitely a small place. Now however he needed that chocolate desert and to figure out what movie he wanted to watch? Maybe he could watch some sci fi movie or the occasional fantasy was good.

“And you can work on your magic formula’s for the carpet… setting them on fire was fun”

Morin groaned and ignored his familiar who went back to sleeping where ever it liked too under Morin’s hair. Sor was a silly creature and apparently fast becoming a pyromaniac.

User Image"Rayne, why did I let you talk me into this hike again?" Mele half teased, half complained to her kirin friend. They had been walking uphill for what seemed like hours. The scenery was gorgeous, and it was quiet aside from birdsong and various animals, but Rayne wasn't stopping, just kept right on going up the dang mountain.

The Kirin turned around and eyed his friend. "I found something you like, so I'm taking you to it. I told you the last dozen times you asked, Mele." Rayne replied, smiling down at her. It really wasn't his fault that whatever it was kept moving. "We're almost there, I think it's just around that curve."

"Alright, alright." Mele started again, following her Kirin. He had the ability to 'find' things. Objects and people popped up on his radar and he'd just take her to them. He didn't know what they'd be until they found them, though. This time...it seemed to be a house. "I like houses far away from civilization? Rayne, your radar is busted. Oh well, maybe the owner will let me have some water before I head back down the mountain." She headed to the door and knocked politely.

“Dad are you going to open the door? Dad… ugh fine I’ll do it” Sarim rolled his eyes at some times his dad’s very anti social moments. Of course when the boy walked over and opened it he blinked before turning his attention back at the living room. “Hey dad there is some one that kind of looks like Kali at the door with a familiar? One of your students?”

Morin was trying very hard not to pay attention to the door, figuring whoever was there would just leave however it seemed like Sarim was a bit more social than he was and before he could stop his son the door had been opened. He frowned when Sarim mentioned they looked like Kali and walked into view to see who was at the door. “Uh Mele. I don’t have the carpet ready… ugh I mean…” ugh that was smooth so incredibly smooth. He glared as Sarim chuckled into his sleeve and watched as the boy darted around him and into the living room. “Hey Mele what brings you out here to the middle of no where”
PostPosted: Fri Jan 17, 2014 2:34 pm

Rayne tried to stealthily squeeze past Morin before clattering into the livingroom after the kit. He wanted to play too, and Mele didn't need him around to talk to the other noodle.

Kali? She really didn't think she resembled her cousin that much. Who was this kid in the middle of nowhere? She would have asked him, but suddenly Morin appeared in the doorway. Well...that was not what she was expecting. The bit of bluntness was, however, and she smiled.

"Hello, Morin, good to see you again." she replied, pointing passed him to the livingroom. "That kirin is what brings me out here. He insisted that something I liked was out here. Little did I know it was you living at the top of a mountain." she laughed musically, before coughing a little. She'd forgotten about asking for water.

"Morin, could I trouble you for a glass of water? And maybe a chair? I was just dragged all over this mountain and I am dead tired and parched." Mele said, smiling again."

So Morin was a loss of what to do. Did everyone just push themselves into his house to invade his living room? Yep. Yep they did. Sighing he ran a hand through his hair, aggravating the magic and making it glow and walked into the kitchen to pour Mele a glass of water. Sadly today due to Meris, kali and Tanith he was quite used to either Sarim letting people into his house, or the listed people just walking into his house anyways.
“Ah the house moves every couple of hours. Today is just mountain day” There was a stationary location you could always find his house at, but he refused to tell anyone that except Sarim. “Hey Sarim, can you get Mele a chair, the one in my study should work” he watched as his son nodded and teleported the chair into the room. “Here’s the glass of water”

“Does everyone in Kali’s family have a familiar” Sor asked peeking out from Morin’s hair again.

"Not that I know of. My father doesn't have one, but my grandmother has a dragon too. He's...an interesting one." Mele said to the dragon as she flopped into the chair and sipped her water. "Thanks, Morin, this really helps. Sorry about dropping in on you unannounced and all, but Rayne was insistent about coming here."

She blinked up at Morin before frowning slightly. "Did you say the house moves?" That would explain why it was so hard to find the place, but what happens when the house moves again. Would she be further from her own home? Ugh, Mele did not want to have a longer walk back home. Maybe Morin could control the house somehow and deposit her at the base of the mountain or something? "Can you control where it goes? Or does it just move randomly with or without you?"

“You should all get Familiars, especially sake dragons because we’re cool. Kirins aren’t bad either” Sor stated before licking Morin’s nose and fleeing into the living room where Rayne and Sarim were playing. He giggled as Morin let out a small growl at the lick.

“Short answer is I guess in a sense. It’s actually stationary in one place, but how to access my house chances constantly.” Morin replied wondering what was causing the young girl to keep frowning. “Hmm most of the time it just randomly moves without me; however I can control where it goes. I do occasionally like to venture out into town to get supplies and see if anyone needs a mage. Why did you need me to take the house anywhere?”

"I'll pass that along to my family, Sor." Mele replied as the dragon sped away. She smiled at the growl Morin let out, but quickly took a sip of water to cover her expression up. She wasn't laughing at him, exactly, she just thought the growl was more cute than intimidating.

The girl didn't really understand his explanation, but she nodded anyway. Basically the house moved. Sorta. "Oh, no, you don't have to move your house anywhere right this very second. I'm just being a wimp and not wanting to walk down a huge mountain just to get home." Mele said with a self-depreciating chuckle. "What do people usually need mages for?" She asked, curiosity lacing her tone. She wanted a mage for a magic carpet, but she couldn't think of what other people would want.

“Well since not everyone has magic or the right kind of magic there are many reasons why someone would want a mage. If they need curses removed, memories sealed off, unwanted magical pests disposed of. Also if your child has magical powers, and the rest of the family is non magical, obviously you’ll want someone to safely teach you.

“As for wanting the house moved, it’s understandable. I have to go into town later on today Sarim kind of teleported my magical supplies to some random unknown remote location by accident…” Morin stopped as Sarim yelled out something that kind of sounded like ‘it wasn’t my fault dad’ and shook his head fondly. “Anyways the end result is I need to restock them. I’ll move the house to the bottom of the hill so you don’t have to worry about the climb down.”

"Oh. There seems to be a lot of call for a mage." And it really put her request for a flying carpet into a silly category...not to mention she wasn't paying him or anything. Mele winced and took another sip of her water. "Why would anyone want their memories sealed off?" Probably a depressing answer, but Mele'd never want to lose any of her own memories, good or bad.

Mele laughed at Sarim's and Morin's byplay, charmed that Morin obviously loved his son. "Um, can't you use a spell to locate the items?" She asked, half hoping she wouldn't have her impromptu visit cut short. Now that she found Morin, she was loath to just up and leave the hermit all alone again. Well, all alone besides his son and familiar. Wow. She was beginning to be as bad as Grandma.

“Yes there has been a surge in children with magical abilities lately and just general magic problems… or maybe its more of I’m paying more attention instead of being a rich old hermit hiding away from the world” Morin mused. “well some things happen that damage you more than you can bare and you need the memories sealed away because you can’t handle them. Like losing a child or being left for dead at their hands by those who held your heart” he shook his head and looked back at Mele.

“Oh I did.. that was the first attempt to avoid society. Unfortunately Sarim is getting more powerful due to his real heritage and they ended up in a different dimension. One I am a bit loathe to return to. Thus its just better to get a new set… We can leave whenever you want though. I am truly in no hurry to go socializing with that many people”

Mele shook her head sadly. "I couldn't give up those memories. If I don't remember a betrayal, I'm just setting myself up for another one. And if I forgot something as sad as losing a child, I'd also have to forget how happy I was to have that child in the first place." Mele shook her head again and shrugged, changing the subject. "But it's great that you're able to help all the kids with magical problems."

"Sarim's real heritage?" She asked, perking up a little. "Ooh, tell me about that." She said, wanting to draw out the parting of ways.

“Well then Lady Mele, you are a lot stronger than some people, but yes too many people freak out and they don’t give the children proper training. There is nothing worse than a mage that doesn’t have control over their powers.” He replied in his own sad tone before shaking his head. He had promised himself he was never going to let those memories rule over him again.

“That’s a long story I’m afraid” Morin stated walking over to the window and placing his hand on it. “Sarim isn’t my real son. I found him abandoned as a Baby in an alleyway. As such he’s a Pure-blooded vampire. I’m surprised you haven’t been snuggled by sarim’s companion Kemet yet. Then again since Kemet is a vampire Bat he’s probably still sleeping.”
PostPosted: Thu Jun 25, 2015 10:06 am

"Do you think so? I think it's just practicality to not want to be betrayed again. I've never lost a child, though, so I wouldn't know how deep the pain is, but I still think losing all the happy times would make the loss all the worse." Mele shrugged and looked away; was she being too naive? She hadn't had much taste of loss or sorrow in her short life. She was probably coming off as a fluff-brain, honestly.

"I can see where untrained magic wielders would be a problem, or at least trouble. Do most of them cause trouble on purpose? Or is it generally an accident since they don't have proper control?" Mele asked. Her family was steeped in magic, though it seemed to have skipped her, and she'd never seen any of her family wreak any havoc too terrible. Most of the magic in her family was pretty tame, though; music, plant growth, healing, and a little weather.

She whipped her head around when Sarim's nature was revealed, though. "A vampire? And he's awake during the day? I...didn't know they could do that." She briefly wondered if it was safe...and remembered how sweet and charming the boy had been. Of course he was safe. Fluff-brain. "A vampire bat? I didn't know those could be familiars. Is it cute?"

He wondered what his reaction to the conversation a while ago would have been, but he supposed what Mele was saying had some truth to it as well. “I can’t speak for everyone, but yes I do think so. However I hope you never get in a situation where you will be testing out those words.”
“As for untrained magic wielders…some get power hungry and try to obtain more so they generally cause trouble. Of course most of the time they aren’t really that powerful so they’re easy to handle, Other times it’s an accident because the power gets out of control. However I’m sure that you didn’t climb up a mountain today to talk about heavy topics…”

Kemet was a safe enough topic, well that was until the bat woke up and realized there was some one new to cuddle… Of course he had to hide his smile at the brief worry over Sarim. “Sarim isn’t that species of vampire. Although he does get sunburned quite easily and does hate garlic”

“That’s because it smells awful” Sarim yelled from the other room.

“Yep a vampire bat, although I’ve never really seen him go after blood… as for being a familiar, well they aren’t, in the normal sense like Rayne or Sor would be called our familiars. Kemet can apparently breed, and has pledged his line to assist and support Sarim’s line. So I guess to narrow it down he would be a Companion instead of a familiar.” It was then that movement from the ceiling caught his attention, and two little eyes stared down. “Well some people have said Kemet is pretty cute. However why don’t you take a look for yourself. He’s up there”
