The scent of blood was what drew her to the thicket. The scent of blood was what drew her to most things, but this scent in particular had her, well, on edge. It was the blood of a kin, fresh and far too strong to be of a natural end, and it took only a glance to confirm her suspicions. Her breath hissed out, golden eyes narrowed, and at her heels Savager knew better than shriek, lest incur any of his partner's cold fury. Nothing riled Edge more than kinslaughter. "Find them." And she was through. Hooves over fangs in this case. But her triumph was short-lived, because Savager, across the waterway, was hissing a warning. Lithely, she slid into the water, and when she felt something bite at her ankles her head darted into the water to return the favor. The pike's movements ceased, and with a smirk Edge scooped it up in her jaws, bringing it with her to the opposite bank. Waste not, after all. Damn the thing was steep. Her hooves scrabbled at the surface, and she fell back with a hiss of dissatisfaction, rocks falling with her. But just as she was about to try another path, she caught sight of a hoof print in the mud one behind one of the fallen rocks. It was smaller than she'd expected - an Acha's. The hill seemed to be infested with rats now. Not keen on fighting on this surface that she was struggling with, she backed off.
