The journey to Serenia had been one that involved a lot of chatter on the part of Karayan who had yet to be allowed to leave home. It was an exciting day for him and he knew that he was going to be able to see a lot of interesting things as well as a lot of new things in the coming days. Of course his Grannie had to be a bit of a buzz kill, forcing him to settle down so that they could talk about the dragons of Serenia, green scaled ones called Ysali. It seemed that they were what he was going to be hunting down first. It really was an intimidating thing, knowing that he would have to battle it out with a dragon all on his own but he felt confident that he would be able to handle it. After all his Grannie was giving him all manner of great tips. She had also assured him that retreat was always an option when one was hunting for the first time, there was no reason that he should risk his life for an orb. He wouldn't admit it but it was those orbs that had him the most excited. He'd seen them before, the ones that other members of his family had brought home with them, and he wanted some! They were so pretty! Not to mention the way that they glittered in the sun like jewels. If he could figure out a way to hang them up he would do so, certain that they would cast their pretty colors across his room.
So here he was, preparing himself to get one of those pretty jeweled orbs for himself by hunting down some of the Ysali dragons. He wasn't really sure what to expect with them, sure his Grannie had given him a lot of information to mull over during the trip to Serenia but really how much would that help? She said that like Dovaa all of the dragons had different personalities and battle styles, there was no way to know for certain exactly how one of them would react. All he could do was prepare himself the best that he could and attack when he saw an opening. To aid him in his mission he'd been given one of her bone knives to borrow but he wasn't quite sure how he was going to get in close enough to a dragon to use a dagger on it. No matter, he'd do his best to try to figure it out as he went. Surely since she was so good at battle that meant that he had it in his blood to be a good warrior as well, right? With this thought in one he drew in a deep breath, held it, let it out slowly, and continued forward.
It didn't take him too long to find what he was looking for and when he did find them he couldn't help but to stand there, starring at the large beasts, mouth agape, "Woah..." That wasn't what he was expecting at all. Sure, he'd guessed that they were going to be big but not that big, not that intimidating, and for a moment he could only look between the dragons and his bone blade with a somewhat confused look on his face. How... how was it supposed to work? Surely there was some big secret that he was missing, like their instant kill weak spot or something? How else was someone his size, armed as he was, supposed to stand up against that? Really he had zero clue but he had to do it. Fighting dragons, gathering their orbs, it was a right of passage and it was what allowed a young Dovaa like himself to grow strong. Not to mention that he would need to prove himself to not only himself but to his family as well as to their leader. When there was so much riding on these battles he couldn't back down!
Once he'd talked himself into it Karayan tightened his grip on his weapon, steeled himself, took a couple steps forward... only to realize the dragons were gone. While he was trying to talk himself into the battle the two of them had wandered off, likely oblivious to the fact that he was even standing there. He wasn't sure if he should feel insulted or not but he kind of did the way they had wandered off as though he posed not threat at all, "Guess I will need to try that again." He murmured to himself, sheathing his bone blade, and started forward again in hopes of finding more dragons.
