Somehow she had made it past the first round, but only barely. Alaska didn’t even remember how exactly it had happened. It just did. She would have to hole herself up in her dorm and mull over the battle later, but right now she had to concentrate on the next fight. The next fight, somehow, involved a certain hunter named Quinn aka Loser. But perhaps it was time to stop calling him that considering he had won his first fight. Maybe he had some skill after all.
She kicked up a tiny cloud of dust as she waited in the abandoned town. It was mostly cloudy with a bit of rain that tickled her face, but nothing that would hinder her much. “Alright then, Loser.” Some habits were hard to break. “Let’s start this.” Her weapon was already summoned when she took the first step forward. The runes glowed light green. Alaska raised an arm with the intention to bash him in, but her eyes caught sight of the dark clouds in the distance. A storm.

Quinn was honestly surprised he even made it this far. His battle against Land had also been close, SUPER close. Close enough that Quinn somehow, by some streak of luck, had won. He was nervous already, but upon seeing who his next opponent was... it turned in to all out panic. Why her? WHY HER? OF ALL PEOPLE? He couldn't help the whimper that sounded from his mouth, taking a step back. "Oh man why." He whispered to himself. He still summoned Oki, the staff taller than him now at his side made him feel a little more secure, but just barely. hp: 40 Dmg: 1 (lmao AHAHAHAHAH)

Quinn didn’t seem too pleased to see Alaska, but it didn’t bother her much. He had always been a skittish sort of guy, so the reaction was hardly a shocker to the woman. Instead she raised a single eyebrow at him as he muttered something to himself before finally summoning his weapon. He managed to hit her shield, which was always better than missing, right?
Unfortunately for the lad, Alaska intended to deal an even bigger hit, which she did with ease. She pressed her lips together as she kept her arms raised and brought both of them down on Quinn.

Oh.
Carp.
He thought in his mind, one of the things he saw before he was able to dodge being two sudden mace-like objects (with shark teeth?) hurtling towards him. The was little he could do, the attack hit home with a almost audible sound against his fear shield.
Best he could manage to do is, once again, back away from her. Somewhere in the process Oki had tapped her shield once more.
He seemed to afraid of the woman to really even try.

Apparently Quinn had managed to pass the first round, but right now Alaska failed to see how he had managed to do so. Bright green eyes squinted skeptically at the dark-haired hunter, but remained mute as she watched him flail around. Notably, he backed away from her, at the same time—somehow she figured it was on accident—tapping her shield a second time. “…”
There were no words as she merely stepped forward, bridging the gap between the two before she took another swing at him.

Being as there was seeminly little else he could do, Quinn tucked his knees to his chest, put his weapon against the ground in front of him, and covered his head with his hands.
His fear of the woman was turning into phobia levels, so if he sat there and let her do this... would she leave him alone?

He still wasn't doing much. Still just another light tap on her shield. This time Alaska furrowed her brows and bothered to ask, "What's wrong?" The sun hunter tried waiting a moment, but considering they were in a fight, she found it best to also swing at him again, but not as hard.

[ Spectator ] After spending a bit more time down on the sand rooting for Inoke, Land had checked back in long enough to find out where Quinn was fighting next. He made the Abandoned town his next stop and what he found there made his brow furrow. "Quinn! Get up!" He called out sternly, hoping that he'd be able to do something to snap the guy out of it. "Just because you don't have the advantage of the sand this time doesn't mean you should just give up! Throw yourself at her or something!" That had worked in knocking him down, at least. "Put some of Oki's weight into it!"

He stayed curled up waiting for the next attack to come, and she did not disappoint. Oddly though, it did not feel as strong as the last two. In reaction he swatted back before he realized it, bringing his arm back in a second later. It was only her question that brought his voice, even if a little mumbly. " 'm not really a fighter. Won first round on accident." Which was the truth. He literally fell and landed on Land, that was what ended it. Plus Alaska was scary as hell. Speaking of land, Quinn thought he heard his voice. Frowning, he uncurled himself enough to peer around at the source of the talking. Yup, that was Land alright. It seemed he was...cheering him on? Why? HP: 21 DMG: 3

Finally a satisfying reaction. And it had only taken him a million years to do it. Congratulations, Quinn. You’ve managed to somewhat impress Alaska for less than a second. A stranger’s voice broke her concentration and she craned her neck to stare at the spectator. Huh. “Friend of yours?” she murmured, slightly curious yet cold at the same time. Alaska casually lifted her leiomano for another attack, but immediately froze as soon as he explained the actual truth behind his passing. An accident.
As serious as she usually looked, Alaska suddenly turned disappointed and she visibly paused. “Oh. Is that so?”

"Thatta boy!" Because that's what everyone needed to hear after a successful hit, right? A whooping cheer complete with a fist pump to the air and a slip of a grin across his lips. "Up an at'em... Er... Her. Up and at her!" Really, cheerleading was not his thing. It was something he avoided, as a matter of fact... Or was that the cheerleaders? Eh, either way. "I don't think you're going to beat her sitting down on the ground. She doesn't look like the sort to lie down and take it, Quinn."

"Yeah, Land over there was my first opponent." He managed to mumble once more, this time pausing to dare and look up at Alaska. "The fight was close, we were both exhausted.... but the final attack that decided it was an accident. I feel i cheated him out of a victory." Why lie? It was the truth.
That was when he heard Land once more, turning around and giving him the look he felt that comment deserved. Confusion.
Land thought he should try?
Turning back to Alaska he breathed in deeply and let it go slowly. Land was somewhat becoming a friend. They met in odd circumstances, but... Arland was here to cheer for him right? He should at least try. He was the one here right now in his place. Quinn needed to at least give it his best right?
"....I'll try." He called loudly, answering both of them.
Grabbing at Oki, he pulled himself to his feet and waited until Alaska seemed to be ready once more before making a swing.

She didn’t think Land was his actual name, but a nickname. It seemed too peculiar otherwise. Her head turned slightly toward the observing hunter so she could take in his appearance more clearly. Alaska had never seen him before. Was he perhaps brand new? “Isn’t that how a lot of battles go?” she murmured. “That was a lot like how my own round went, but to call it an accident is…” Eyes narrowed and lips pressed together into a tight line. “Never say your win was an accident. A win is a win, no matter how close the race was.”
But it was nice to see his previous opponent wanted to cheer him on. It was nice to see that Quinn was actually going to sincerely try from now on. She raised her chin to clearly reveal the tattoos trailing down her neck. “Good. That’s exactly the way I like it.” The sun hunter spun the weapons in her hands before tightening her grip and pressing forward, the green runes glowing brightly beneath the stormy clouds.

He threw his hands up slightly at the look he was getting from Quinn, shrugging his shoulders before making a shooing motion at the other young man. He couldn't help but feel that the other should be having more fun with this; remembering that it was a competition as much as a training exercise. He overheard Alaska's words however and nodded in agreement. "Listen to the lady, man! She's talkin' sense. Head up, eyes forward... Swing batter, batter!" He flashed another grin, this time offering a bit of a cheer for both of them.
