Civilian-- wants to be a farmer/Tamer Stage 1: Apprentice Age 6
The Tale that Started It
It's that time of year again, and rumors are once again flying about haunted places and strange creatures being sighted. The Blood Moon is shining and the world of Magesc seems slightly darker and more dangerous. Normally you count all these strange rumors as just that, strange rumors. But you overhear one conversation that perks your interest: a man, badly wounded, is talking to a woman. Apparently he found an odd place out in the wilds filled with danger and treasure.
You may rp out his conversation; talk with him or merely eavesdrop if you wish.
He doesn't know who made the place, describing it as an odd and spooky underground labyrinth filled with alcoves where the dead are laid to rest. The skeletons don't have much treasure on them, the fine clothes they wore to their funerals have all rotted away, but their jewelry still remains. The woman looks disgusted, stealing from the dead? He quickly shakes his head: No! He saw but didn't take those, for who knows what curses were on them. The dead keep what is theirs. But he found other treasure, deep inside the crypt. It was in a huge room that reminded him of a temple, but had three statues in it. He had seen the chests, but dare not go and look inside them: strange things were floating about in that room. Huge shadows that looked like carrion birds, and bright balls of fire with a floating skull inside of them. He hadn't wanted to explore the place any further, the Blood Moon made things too dangerous! The woman asks if he would try to go there after the Blood Moon is gone, and he shakes his head vehemently. He'd been all over that area many times before and had never seen the entrance to that place before!
To get the location, you have 2 paths you can choose: eavesdrop some more as he speaks about where it is, or ask him directly. Either way, go to The Entrance.
Sueno was with her parents as they delivered their produce to a near by village. Madryn, her big brother, had been let to look after the farm. Sueno thought of this as a grand adventure, it was her first time helping her parents in their deliveries. Her parents were talking with another farmer, complaining about how this Blood moon was disturbing their farms. The animated pumpkins being quite dangerous, which is why they had to leave Madryn behind: he was to keep the farm safe.
Sueno had one and clinging to her father's pants and the other near her mouth, holding a lock of hair that she chewed. Her eyes were staring at the couple at the next stall. The man was filthy and wounded, Ma never lets me get that dirty she thought. She listened intently to his tale; vanishing crypts! So cool! Madryn would wanna go there, maybe I should see if I can visit it and bring him something? But it sounded scary.... and dirty Tombs were filled with dust and dead people right? That wasn't the type of place she wanted to visit.. But Dyn-Dyn.. I wanna impress big brother by bringing him something from there!
Her mind kept thinking on this as her parents wrapped up their talk and headed back to the wagon. She overheard them wondering if it would b safe to camp halfway home. Since it'd be too dark and they didn't want to risk hurting their hastar that pulled the wagon. "Ah dinna mind camping!" Sueno pipped up with a big smile. They'd be camping near this tomb, she knew it. Mostly because shed recognized the landmarks the tomb guy had mentioned. It was half way between here and her farm!
That night as they camped, Sueno crept away from the camp, a small bag with snacks and a few things she thought she might need on her back. She was wary of the dark; not that she minded the night, but that was when bad things lurked and she was just a little girl out in the wild...

Xenosa had been on her way to meet Daesat when she overheard the man speaking about some crypts. Stopping mid step, Xenosa hooded herself and leaned against a building near by, keeping the man within view and earshot. He’d even spoken of chests, which meant treasure. She didn’t care much for the birds of prey, those could easily be dispatched and anyways the man was probably exaggerating his tale. If she wanted ehr own place, she was going to have to do extra jobs on the side, this sounded like the perfect opportunity to make a few extra bucks on the side.
When the man was done his tale, Xenosa headed back on her way to grab a few things for the journey. She doubted she was going to be gone for long, but you never know what you might need. When night fell she headed towards her destination.
(( Just letting you know they’ll probably meet at the entrance biggrin ))
You've traveled deep into the wilderness, fighting some monsters, slinking by others, until at last you have arrived at the location the wounded man had described. The sun is barely above the horizon, painting the sky a blood red. To the East, the moon has risen; full and glowing with that odd amber red color. You can clearly see the entrance, it lays like a black hole on the side of a huge hill, and all around it is a flat grassy plain; no trees grow near it, nor are there any other hills nearby. The entrance is made of stone, and there were once words carved into the archway above your head.Time though has caused them to become cracked and faded and all you can make out is the word at the end: "Fallen." The stone archway holds no door and beyond lays a room that you can only see shadows in. From within comes a sudden breeze; a dusty and earthy scent fills your nose as the breeze passes you.
Go to The Hallway.
Sueno crept quietly through the woods, starting at every noise. It was scary out here at night with out her big brother to protect her! Not that it was completely night yet, the sum still hung right above the horizon, making the shadows seem darker and everything else look covered in blood. But to her young eyes, it was still scary: dusk was a time to be heading home for dinner not entering a scary crypt! But she wanted those things for Madryn..... She came to the edge of the woods and saw a large glade full of tall golden grass, quivering slightly in the wind. The Moon was rising as the sun was setting, glowing an amber red, the color of the apple cider that Sueno and her mother had made earlier in the week. Its red light drew her eye to a hillside, where a dark shadow loomed where there should have been no shadow. Swallowing nervously, Sueno crept across the glade towards the hill, completely hidden by the tall grass with only the wavering of the grass marking her passing.

Xenosa for the most part, had simply avoided all encounters from the monsters on her journey. There was no need to waste some good energy that she might need later on for these monsters anyway. The do coloration of the land creeps her out just a bit, it’s weird and unnaturally and the moon doesn’t help at all. At last, she gets to her destination, she peers into the darkness hands on her hips. Maybe she should have brought Daesat along with her; this was not safe to do alone. The Orderite made a final check on all her weapons she only turned around when she heard shifting in the grass. Narrowing her eyes, Xen grabbed one of her daggers and yelled out. “If you’re going to hide, better come out now.”
Sueno hadn't noticed the older girl and squeaked when she heard the voice yell. Startled that someone else was out here, but relieved at the same time. I hope they're going in there! It'be a lot less scary if I had someone with me.... "It's just me!" She chirped as she stumbled out of the tall grass, "Not hiding at all! Not my fault the grass is to tall." She looked up at the taller girl. Kinda serious looking, she thought as she smiled up at Xenosa, "I'm Sueno. Are ye goin' intah the crypt thingy too?"

If she hadn’t noticed the girls light complexion and lack of draconic appendages, Xenosa would have sent a dagger flying the girls way. However, this was anther full fledge Orderite, she lowered her weapon and put it back within her hidden folds. “You shouldn’t sneak up on people.” She said mildly, putting her hands on her hip and looking very much older. She have a glance into the cave and then at the little girl. “Yes, however you don’t seem armed and I don’t think you should be going in.” Who was little children run around unarmed in such a place anyway?
psst, as sue steps through the entranc, Xenosa shouldn't be able to hear the last bit of her words. "And now yer ...." Should be all that she hears.
Sueno frowned up at the older girl "Ah heard that there was some items in there, good treasure! A wanna get it for mah brother! He's a-gonna be getting his weapon soon and Ah wanna give him a gift..... " She skipped past the older girl and walked into the crypt saying over her shoulder "And now yer here! So it works out! We can do this together right?" Amazing how having company got rid of the fear! She didn't feel that bad at all! nope... nothing to be afraid of now...
Hallway
As you enter the crypt, you notice that it is unnaturally silent. You can't hear the sound of the wind or bugs anymore. If you look behind you, you can still see the plains soaked in red light; but they look farther away than they should, and there's too much darkness between you and the outside. Into the room you go. It is small and narrow, more like a hallway than a room. Statues of armored figures line the walls. If you take a closer look at them, you'll notice the statues that line the right wall have no eyes. While the statues on the left wall have carvings of wings on the wall behind them.
Opposite the entry way is another archway, this one has stairs leading down beyond it. The light in this hallway is dim, and the stairs themselves vanish into the dark. A light may be needed to explore this place.
You may go down the stairs, Go to Downwards. Or you may leave Go to Quit.
As Sueno walked into the darkness she stopped. Suddenly she couldn't hear anything from outside! No bird or insects! Panicking slightly, she spun around saw that the entrance was still there... but it looked farther away than it should have been... It's just fear, she told herself. My mind's making things up! I have a warrior with me! And I should stop getting so scared of things. Big brother's going to be away a lot now so I need to be able to do things without him! Gotta be a little stronger!... Though I can rely of this girl today, yeah. Small steps towards courage is what I'll take...
She took a deep breath and took another step forward, looking at the statues on both sides of the hallway. "Why don't they have eyes?" She asked aloud as she looked at the non winged ones to her right.

Xenosa stared at the girl with her eyes wide and mouth open, really? Who had let this wild child out I the wild? And yet, Xen couldn’t stop from a smile forming on her lips. Here was this little one, coming unarmed to probably some place that was way too dangerous for her. She was fearless, daredevil, Xenosa liked her instantly. She decided than that she felt very much like Daesat had when she’d followed her, feeling like she needed to protect this little one from whatever lay ahead in the cave. “Yes, we can do it together.” The Orderite answered with finality, except she’d been so spaced out that she’d miss Sueno going in and now she couldn’t hear her talking anymore.
“By the Goddess!” Xenosa turned around and stalked right into the hallway after the girl, catching up with her easily with long quiet strides. She makes it to the girl’s side just in time to hear her question. “Oblivionites.” Xenosa narrows her eyes and observes her surrounding, was this some sort of Oblivionite hiding place? If so, she fully planned on killing all those that they met. Taking a knife from her side, Xenosa held it out to the girl. “You ought to have a knife with you, if something happens to me, at least you’ll have something to get you out safely.” She waited until the girl took the knife. “Let’s keep moving, standing still is never a good thing.”
I'm not stealing anything, but if you want to go ahead! I'll leave the choice of battle or not up to you!
Sueno looked at the statues. They didn't seem that different from the other ones.. a bit more solemn and angular, plus those missing eyes, but not like the monsters that the Olbivionites were in the stories she'd heard! Maybe the stories were wrong?
She looked at the knife and frowned as she shook her head. "No, Ah don't want that! What if Ah fall and stab mah-self with it? Ah'll just run if things git bad, don't'cha worry." Sueno didn't know why, but she just didn't want that weapon. The thought of actually having to kill something made her unhappy. Though of course she'd seen deaths before, she lived on a farm after all! But those blades weren't the blades used to end farm animals lives to prepare them for the table, those were for a much more deadly purpose and Sueno didn't want to touch them.
She turned and looked down the stairs into the pitch black shadows. Pulling her back pack off, she dug through it till she found the small candle that she'd put in there. Lighting it, she put it in a small holder and walked downwards carefully.
Downwards
Light may be created by any Orderite mage, any Kiandri, Firani, Auedaun Dovaa/Drakein, and by using items. Fire Feathers also put out light. Or you can rp your characters making a torch, that works to. If you wish to do the adventure in the dark that's fine! Just be aware that your character won't see all the details and stuff!
As the stairs go down, the air gets chillier and the scent of dust and earth gets stronger. The walls of the stairwell are covered in carvings depicting battles. Some you can tell are between certain races and others are against dragons. But all involve death and violence. Once you reach the end of the stairwell, the corridor widens and you see a large room filled with statues. Along every wall are alcoves that contain a skeletons. Some of them have rusted armor others have rotted clothing, all have a weapon of some sort lying next to them. Above each alcove is a name carved into the rock. As you wander the long corridors of the Crypt, you see every wall is covered in alcoves and statues. The statues depict all races, and you wonder who they were. If you look close enough, you notice at the bottom of the statue is a name carved into the rock. And if you look hard enough, you can find that same name above a skeleton... Someone took the dead and carved statues of them, but there are so much more skeletons than there are statues. Who did this? And why? The silent walls hold no information on who built this place. Maybe deeper inside you'll find some clues...
As you are wandering, another thing catches your eye. The glimmer of gold. Forged gold is special, it never tarnishes, nor do the precious gems set in them. Every skeleton in here has something that shines, and flickers in the light. But should you steal from the dead?
If even one of the group steals from the Dead, Go to Combat!. If everyone decides to leave the Dead in peace: Go to The Shrine. Your choice Tasi
As she walked downwards, Sueno's hand trembled a bit, this was spooky! The chilly air smelling of dust and earth, the battle scenes carved into the walls. Why were there so many deadly scenes shown? What about happy scenes? People doing nice things? This isn't a nice place, she thought to herself. That thought was reinforced by the sight that greeted her in the room at the bottom of the stairs. Skeletons! She quickly trotted back to Xenosa and hid behind her, the hand not holding the candle gripping the older girl's tunic. "Dere's dead people down dere!" She squeaked, afraid of the strange and creepy skeletons. The thought that they had once been alive but were no longer scared her. She didn't want to think of death! What if she died here?

No stealing for Xen.
“Fall and stab yourself?” Xenosa’s mouth hung open just a little in surprise. Who had trained this child? Did they realize she needed protecting? Xenosa rubbed her forehead with a frown on her face, unsure how to go about the whole thing. She wasn’t about to fight with a kid, but then again this kid was not her own and she shouldn’t even have offered the knife to begin with. Sighing deeply at her mounting frustration, Xenosa shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose. “I doubt you’d be able to run that fast, you’ll die.” Pessimistic, but the truth to her eyes.
The older Orderite followed the little one down the steps carefully, at least she’d brought a candle with her, and they’d be able to see what was going on. Granted when her eyes set on the dead corpses she wasn’t thrilled by what she was seeing. “Keep your hands to yourself; stealing from the dead is rude and never good for your afterlife.” Respect the dead because they might not be completely dead. It was hard to ignore the girls squeak so Xenosa gave her a push forward. “What did I say about standing about?” Standing got you killed, Xenosa moved on.
As you go deeper into the crypt, after fighting your way down or not, you come to a large door. It's the only door in the entire place. On either side of the door are statues of small Dragons.. or maybe Drakeins. They are the only Statues of their kind in here that you have seen. What is beyond the door? As you open it, you notice that the door is completely silent. No creaks or squeals at all... Which is odd, the rest of the crypt looked and smelled old as did this door, and old doors creak...
Peaking beyond the doorway you spy exactly what the man had. Huge shadows that flap about silently, completely black except for the odd sharp bird legs. Mixed in are floating balls of green and blue fire with vague skull shapes at the center. And yes, there is the chest! In fact there are 3 chests. One at the foot of each large statue. As you look at them, the majority of the status are covered in shadow, but you get a feeling that they look familiar.
Looking at them closely, you suddenly recognize all 3 of the Gods! This must be a shrine to them...
No matter what you do in this room, the Draugur and the Will-o-Wisps merely pass you by, just floating silently about the room. Should you try to touch them, your hands become chilled and numb for a bit as your hand passes through the creatures. It is oddly silent in here, and a feeling of deep sadness presses down upon you, but these chests are calling! Should you go to a chest that does not belong to your god, the chest will not open, but the one at the foot of your god does... Drakeins of all clans except Diabi and Aeduan find the chest at the foot of Abronaxus' statue opens. The Diabi clan find the chest at Soudana's statue opens and the Aeduan Drakein find the chest at the base of Seren's statue opens. Chest contains(no matter which one opens): x2 Firani Dragon Tears and either a Shield of the Ancients, Arrow of Courage, or Bottle of Dreams. You chose which you want! Post in the finished adventure thread and make sure to specify which one you want! You may now RP leaving, all the dead and will-o-wisps are quiet and nothing moves as you leave. But you get eh sense that eyes are watching you and it would be a very bad thing to disturb the dead right now....If you do try and take their loot, the dead wake up, take back their loot and chase you out.
Sueno kept a grip on the older girls tunic end as she crept forward. The crypt was filled with so many alcoves and skeletons that she wondered why this was here. Why was there a place full of bones out here? Why hadn't anyone taken them home after they'd died? The flicker of gold held no power over her. Small Sueno was far too scared of the skeletons to even reach out a hand to try and take their treasure.
She kept to the center of the hallways as it wound about the crypt, her wide eyes flickering all over the place to make sure nothing snuck up on her. Eventually she saw a door, the only one she'd seen anywhere in this whole place. Pointing it out to Xenosa, she tugged on the tunic end. "Xenosa, dere's a door! Is dat tah place where tah loot is?" She asked in a soft whisper. The man had mentioned a room... and she hadn't sen any other room other than ones filled with dead people, so hopefully this was it! She wanted out of this creepy place! She waited till Xenosa acted. She didn't want to go first into some scary room... she'd already had a bad enough scare entering this place!

I was like having the little sibling she’d never had, Xenosa felt over protective of the other girl as she felt Sueno’s grip on her tunic. Maybe at some point she ought to ask Daesat how it felt to have siblings, maybe it would be nice for once. Either way, Xen ignored the skeletons as they crept along. If none of them tried to grab her or the little Orderite, than she had no reason to feel fear.
“Yup that’s a door.” Xenosa fingered one of her daggers, eyes narrowing as they got closer. “Stay here.” The Orderite put her back to the wall as they got closer; she gently pulled the door open and peered inside. Her mouth fell open at the creatures inside, however none of the creatures seemed to acknowledge their presence. “Okay, so…” What could she say? “You’re going to go towards our goddess, get to the chest and I’ll cover you. You run as fast as you can, grab up what you can and we’re getting out of here in a heartbeat!”
Xenosa looked at Sueno. “On my mark.” The Orderite gave one last glance into the room, oh boy. “GO!” Xenosa pulled the door wide open and waited for Sueno to run in so she could cover her back if anything attacked her.
She peeked into the room and her eyes went wide as she saw strange floating fire and shadows that sent shivers down her back. Sueno looked up at the older girl with pitiful eyes and sighed; she had to enter there? But she wanted those things for Madryn! Sueno swallowed and took a deep breath as she gathered her courage before she bolted into the room towards the familiar statue of her people's goddess. She ran as fast as her small legs could carry her and almost slammed into the chest. Her hands shook slightly as she threw open the chest adn grabbed the items in there. Turning back around she squeaked as a will-o-wisp passed right by her. Sueno ran the opposite way, circling around the room dodging the creepy shadows before running into Xenosa and dropping the items. She hugged one of Xenosa's legs to comfort herself. "Scary!" She squeaked.

The older Orderite was right on Sueno’s heels, arms raised in a defensive manner as her eyes moved from one skull to the next floating one. It never occurred to her that somehow they may not be after them, none had attacked them so far, and Xen had put arms down when Sueno had begun running around the whole place. “I don’t think they’re going to attack us.” She said with a smile, and then she reeled and almost feel to the ground as Sueno grabbed onto her leg, dropping everything and almost sending Xenosa tumbling to the ground. “Ho Sueno, no one is chasing us, look.” Xen pointed up.
Gotta finish this one soon. We got the required 5 posts before Nov 30th so it counts but we should finish it
Sueno peeked around Xenosa's legs. "Oh," she giggled as she saw that she'd been frightened for nothing. "Guess that's that then?" She peered hopefully up at Xenosa, "Done? Back up tah surface?" She'd had enough of darkness and gloom for now. All she wanted was to get back to her parent's camp before they noticed her gone and panicked.
