Hobbies: Coffee shop music - Gerhard likes to go to coffee shops to have a drink or two while doing his grading. For those who can't multitask they should watch Gerhard in full on teacher mode. Not only can he sit and have a hot drink or two, or even three, but he can, and does, listen to little local live bands play at these coffee shops while drinking all the while paper grading. This goes back yo when he was up in Pittsburgh, where he's from, doing his own college work while enjoying his evenings. He was not about to sit in a dorm room doing his school work and miss out on such things.
Travel - While other people like to travel and brag about it, they travel simply to do so and to shop all around the world, Gerhard travels to see all these historial sites and see how people in other countries live and learn the cultures. He has been all over Europe and is now looking to expand into Asia and see cultural festivals and other things in these new parts of the world. He researches everything before he makes his plans, to make sure he is in a place when they have something cultural going on and so he knows what to expect. One thing he really wants to do is be in Napal when they are doing the trials for a new Kumari or to be there during the one time a year when the Kumari comes out to perform her duties. He really wants to see a Kumari. He'd also like to see these Japanese school festivals and the Sakura Blossom festival. Gerhard actually has a list of countries he wants to go to, a very long list, and another list of what he wants to see in each of these countries. It's all well planned out and researched.
He can't help it...he just wants to experience and see the whole world!
The only times he talks about these trips, and experiences, is in his history classes or talks about history. And then it's only in the sense of giving people an idea of what places look like and the feeling of being in these places. He doesn't talk about the modern things he sees/does, where he went shopping (which he does do), the food or anything else like that.
Adventure - Gerhard has gone hiking, white water rafting, and rock climbing among other things. He likes to do things of adventure and would try anything once, you don't know if your going to dislike it till you try it, and when he's on vacation he will try and find places to hike, mountain climb, and whatever else. Some of the places he's gone were because of what was near to them, a mountain for climbing, a river for rafting on or taking a canoe on.It's all about the rush, and not getting killed or too injured.
Paranormal Investigating - He's been to Gettysburg and other famous sites - sites which are said by many to be haunted. He'll swear up and down that he's seen or felt things at these places. It's because of this, and just figuring if so many have seen and felt things it's not a coincidence, that Gerhard is a tentative member of Destiny City Paranormal Investigations. He's not able to devote the time that other members are able to dedicate, he's got far too many things to do already, but he does investigate things when and where he can. He gets something of a rush from it even!
Virtues: Multitasker - Gerhard can do multiple things at once, most simple tasks, but he manages to do them with a fair amount of ease and efficiency. Gerhard has learned to do almost anything in combination with his work as a teacher. Due to this the idea of waiting days, or even a week, for grades to be returned is not an issue with him! But this is a skill he picked up while back in his college days, when he had multiple things he needed to do and several things he wanted to do. He wasn't about to let his school work completely destroy his social life and keep him from doing things he wanted to do. He may not get to do exactly what he wanted, or planned, to do but he still will go out and also get his school work done! He just may not get to go out to certain places with his friends, he just goes for the next best thing - late night cafe's where the music is good and the atmosphere even better.
Passionate - From history to music to activities to women Gerhard is a passionate person. There are many things Gerhard likes and enjoys and these are the things he is passionate about. From talks, long ones, about these likes of his to wineing and dining a lady he likes. Gerhard shows his emotions with ease and comfort. He just might get a bit carried away though, and move a bit fast in the case of the ladies. He honestly can't help himself, he's tried.
Honest - He's not brutally honest, can't be with his students, but Gerhard is honest in what he says. Whether it be an opinion he's giving or a question he's answering he does not believe in lieing though he will sugar coat things and soften things. The reason is simple really - he doesn't see the point in lieing (how do you change something nothing is said about it) but he is not out to hurt feelings, kill confidence, or be negative about things. He's a generally positive person.
Flaws: Gets lost - The downside to Gerhard's multitasking is he can, and often does, get lost in what he's doing. He may not notice things - such as someone trying to talk to him or even flirt with him. Too caught up in what he's doing, and needs to get done, though he can manage to add a conversation into the mix. Just know you'll have to sit with him and really gain his attention.
Rambling - When Gerhard gets on a roll, normally about history or politics and currant events, he tends to ramble and give more info than is needed or often wanted by his students. It's just a habit, one he has tried and failed to curb, he is just passionate about his subject and can't help but try to share it! Plus there are so many interesting little bits of knowledge/info out there and he wants to share them all!
Time Management - Gerhard doesn't spend a lot of time at home, he's always doing something somewhere, but he also doesn't get to spend a lot of time on each of his hobbies. He has got so many things he likes to spend his time on that he isn't able to dedicate much time to them. School, work, comes first and everything else winds up coming after it. This means that his hobbies and friendships with people he's met along the way also fall to the wayside at times, he may not call or communicate with a person for weeks or he may not go out with friends for weeks, only to suddenly call them to spend time out or just talk. It also means that if he holds an exam, or gets a lot of long essays, and has to do grading plans may have to suddenly be cancelled. Most of his friends understand this though some have not in the past, he has lost one or two odd friends due to it, there is at times some exasperation caused by this and the fact he won't put off his school duties even for a single night. He has, and will, of course bring his school work with him if they don't mind. But more often then not the night out with friends turns into a night at a cafe paper grading and listening to music. So he he still gets to go out but not in the way he'd first planned, he's ok with this.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Medium green color
Hair: Short with a wave to it. His hair is a brownish hue, not too dark or too light.
Face: Slightly tanned skin and seemingly always smiling. Nothing really noticeable,, at least not in his opinion.
Clothes: Already have his school attire/art.
