Hey guys. So there's probably a few of those around here that's watch a bit of anime at least I'm assuming that'd be the case.

I've kinda been out of anime for a pretty long time. But I'll still check out a few of them every now and then. So I'm not exactly a big fan of anime as I used to be.. sweatdrop

But anyways, I thought I'd ask if anyone here had an anime they didn't really like, or couldn't get into much but for some reason the opening/or ending theme is so darn enjoyable? As for me, for some strange reason I really found the 2nd japanese opening of Bakugan very catchy. At one time I actually gave the show a chance. I didn't really find the show very interesting very much to be honest. Then again the only card theme anime that I felt actually worked was Yugioh.I guess you could call it a guilty pleasure of mine. But despite that, for some reason that opening just has this energy about it that I really like. XD

Hm... this is a really interesting question, but I don't think I know of any anime that fit this category. Usually, I'll find a show I really like but don't care for the opening. (And there are a lot of shows that fit that category for me.) Usually, if I don't think I'll like a show, I don't watch it. Not even the opening. So I don't know if there are any shows with fantastic openings but actually shows that I can't stand.

But, as for intros to shows I don't really like, I'd probably say Black Butler. I didn't hate the show, but it really wasn't my cup of tea.

Bleach comes to mind. I watch Bleach more to make fun of it than anything else, though I do like a number of characters. Bleach has some nice openings.

I'd also mention Naruto, but I do still kind of like Naruto.... kind of! It can give me feels. But has generally fantastic openings and endings.

And much to Legault's dismay, I'd have to say When the Seagulls Cry, if just for the song itself. That show is too ******** up.

I think I'll also mention Future Diary, but with hesitation. I did like the show, but I didn't like where it went. Plus Yuki is the dumb. But its 2nd opening is great.

I'm at my wit's end. I cannot think of any openings I thought were really good, but then the show lacked in comparison, though I know I have thought this before.

The opening is supposed to give really quick details on what the show is about, and not drag it out. That's why I loved the opening to things like Dexter's Lab, Megas XLR and The Powerpuff Girls. That's anime, right? I bet they had at least one asian dude on set.

Or at least an Otaku, come on

But anyway, As for anime, the only openings I can place right now are Valvrave and Attack on Titan. They both are long, drawn out pieces that work, but I don't like to watch them. In fact, 20 seconds in, I was like, "Okay, where's the rest of the show."

Now, I will say I liked Big O's opening. But mainly because I thought the song was really similar to Queen's Flash and I thought the side scrolling was really, really funny. But it does nothing to clue you in on what's going on in the show, other than what the cover and title probably tell you.

Moving on to my last bit, If I had any to answer your question at least haphazardly, I really liked Neon Genesis' opening, but never gave the show a chance.

........................Attack on titan? Seriously?

I have my gripes about derp facial expressions, and how the first episode shoves the main character's view down your throat, but come on! That show rocks. And both of its openings are pure love.

How did I forget Naruto and Bleach? I mostly read the manga, but I saw the shows, too. But even the good parts left a sour taste in my mouth since neither of them has yet to come to an end. I really do like it when shows have a satisfactory ending.

I don't know about Megas XLR, but the other two aren't anime. Anime refers to animated shows or movies made in Japan, typically being voiced in Japanese before being translated to other languages.

Just gonna say this right here

First off, don't expect much out of me other than snark in regards to most anime. It's not terrible, but I'm not really into it for the most part.

Naruto is not about ninja.

It's about very fast wizards.

Ah yeah, I remember being into bleach way back in high school. I'm not really into the anime anymore, I dunno I felt the anime got kinda boring to a certain point.. But yeah those openings were pretty nice.

I still kinda like Naruto too. It did have some pretty good openings/endings. Not really a fan of it that much, but I definitely enjoyed it up until the Sound Four Arc for what is was..

Is it kinda bad that I want to agree with you Tibarn?

With naruto, it's using ideology from Hinduism, which is probably obvious. You're using chakra, channeling it through your body, and producing various jutsu based upon the elements. Personally, I find the idea creative.

It's not about ninja in how we know ninjas, but one has to examine what ninja means in their world, where you've got different villages and the shinobi carry out missions to bring in revenue for their countries. They're essentially mercenaries tied to one particular country, until they go rogue.

With this comes a struggle for power between shinobi villages and wars can break out. A big theme in naruto is unification and friendship despite our differences.

I'm not a die hard Naruto fan, but I'll give props where they're due. The concept is interesting, it has some nice characters and the themes can be powerful and heartfelt. That's why I can't just dismiss Naruto the way I can with Bleach. Plus, the manga is coming close to an end, and I ave high hopes for a satisfying one.

I have no problem with the derp, I actually look forward to derp titans. But however, I still feel like I'm watching recap; the anime from time to time. It's really dragging its d**k around in the dirt, and I'm getting tired of having to clean it. But other than that, very enjoyable watch. I loved Annie's character, and it's only getting better.

As for the opening, I just feel like it's too drawn out. I don't mind the music, not too big a fan of the choreography-- it's okay-- and an opening is supposed to be like an appetizer. Attack on Titan gives you chips, hummus, mozzarella sticks, breadsticks, guacamole, queso, nacho cheese, five kinds of salsa, but only in one-bite portions, and I'm a few chips and salsa kinda guy.

It's like the show is saying, "There's all of this s**t going on, there's all of this stuff you only know a little bit about, this anime is going to be more exciting than propelling yourself through the air with the most powerful fart." But then you watch it, and you're like, "Can uh... pacing happen at a normal interval?"

I'm glad it's not riding the brakes in stop and go traffic.

With everyone else not on the Anime bus, that's cool. There are many other things that you can do. But I personally find cartoons in general to involve more creativity, rather than Orange is the New Black, or some dumb s**t like Glee.

I know of Neon Genesis Evangelion. There was a time when I actually gave that anime a few episodes and I honestly couldn't get into it much. >.> The opening was really all I like about that anime. It's probably one of my favorite anime openings. I had given the manga a shot years ago too but then stopped to a certain point.

I'm gonna get some hate for this, but.....
I really hated Death Note. Just.... didn't like it. At all.
But the openings/endings were all really good. IMO, too good for that show.

I know how you feel. I watched the first two episodes, couldn't get into it. It just seemed like it was a story arc I felt I could predict and through all the hype, felt like I had seen it before.

It's about very fast wizards.
I always saw the Naruto characters as mercenaries with stealth tactics, rather than wizards.

I stopped watching/reading shortly after the jump to Shippuden, though. I'm still frustrated at how Sakura's character was written/addressed/presented. (and not because I dislike her. That's entirely WHY I'm frustrated.)

As for shows with good openings... steins;gate has one of the most interesting anime openings I've seen, but I've only watched 3 episodes thus far thanks to how slow I am with anime. RahXephon was also really interesting, but when I get back around to that, I'll likely just re-start because it's so heavily symbolic that I'll probably not remember what's going on if I pick up where I left off months ago.

Two other good shows are Baccano! and Durarara!!. Definitely give them a look.
