No, i know blood is one of the most powerful substuaces in magic. But i don't use it, cause if the wrong oerson was to get ahold of them they could use it against you. I mean yes it has my sweat on them so they are mine, sweat has dna in it to not as powerful but not noticable like blood.

Runes aren't really "finished" until they're blooded. Part of it is tying them to you, but part of it is also sacrifice - Oðinn hung impaled by his spear for nine days and nights to win them, I don't mind bleeding a little to ensure they're properly finished.

I agree but then again I'm not wiccan. Some might see it as direct violation of the Rede cus you harmin yourself. Of course breathing is also in violation of the rede because you kill microorganisms with each breath. I had a set of runes and I didn't take to them. I'm a tarot person, but a student of mine loves them. She just bought a beautiful set of runes carved on amethyst stones.

My thing is if you make them yourself and put your energy and sweat into them then why should you have to bleed them. I can understand using menstrual blood for the ultimate protection spell but anything else just seem archaic to me. Yes blood is one of the more powerful substances we can use but that doesn't me we have to.

GS Neo Queen Galaxia My thing is if you make them yourself and put your energy and sweat into them then why should you have to bleed them. I can understand using menstrual blood for the ultimate protection spell but anything else just seem archaic to me. Yes blood is one of the more powerful substances we can use but that doesn't me we have to. It's a sacrifice thing. Menstrual blood would be defeating the point, really. Oðinn hung impaled for them, we can't bleed a little? They're Heathen objects, and Heathen Mysteries. If bleeding is anathema to you, if you consider it archaic, you may not really wish to learn them... they're powerful energies that involve a lot of research and a lot of work. They can really harm you if you're not wise and wary about how you use them. And if bleeding isn't a part of your religious outlook, the Mysteries of runes may not be what you're looking for. Some rune-workers actually tie themselves to a tree as a part of making their set. Taking Up runes is a hardcore process.

It's not just about putting energy in them. I blooded my magic mirror so none else could use them.
