The wherholders might think that whers were in general the more cost effective and practical bondmates, but that didn't mean they dismissed the talents of dragons. No, when Thread was in the sky the old defenders of Pern were very much needed but it was quite clear that they were there to do a job not to be celebrated heroes. There were dangerous jobs all across Pern and riding a dragon was just one more of them.

Zephyr wing and Zenith wing were the first two to appear over Benden Hold, their leaders signalling riders to fall into lazy glides to conserve energy in the scant minutes until the Fall was expected. It was Illanor and Queth of Zenith who were acting as flightleaders today and so the blue reached out to address every dragon in the sky.

And with a bellow higher-pitched than Pern was accustomed to hearing from one leading the battle against the silver menace Queth surged forward, his rider below low and silent over his neck. They would excel today or they would die, and Illanor had no intention of dying.

2. Burn Posts are the action posts where one determines how much thread is burned and chance of being scored.
3. Damage Posts are posts made separately from the Burn Posts, should a dragon suffer Threadscore. These must be separate from Burn Posts.
4. Both Burn Posts and Damage Posts count towards the waiting period when a dragon's HP drops to 0.
5. If you are withdrawing your character, please note this in bold in your post at the top.
6. This thread is for adult Trine riders participating in the fall ONLY. There will be a separate ORP for those helping with firestone.
7. See below for information on how to play! An example fall can be found here.
8. Riders have until 11:59pm GMT on Monday 30th September to clear all waves of Thread. Failure to do so will have consequences.
9. Please keep track of remaining Thread after each burn post you make.
10. Posting etiquette guidelines. Do not double post your own characters, save for making a damage roll when you get scored. Do not post back and forward with only one other person. These restrictions are lifted if one hour passes since your last post.

Queen Wing System
- Dragons flying in the queen wing roll 2d4
- The first dice is the damage done, as normal

Acriculeth
Agility: -2
HP: 58

They had agreed some time ago that leading a wing really was not their style. When the dusky-backed blue charged off into the fray their opinion was only solidified. When you were a wingleader a lot more was expected of you in the sky, greater daring and more risk taking. The bronze pair slipped smoothly into formation with no intention of being so foolish. There was power to be won elsewhere in this brave new world they had joined, power that came with far fewer risks attached to it.

As they approached the leading edge of the wave Acriculeth gathered a breath and blasted out his first jet of flame of the day.

Acriculeth
Agility: -2
Damage: 11
HP: 47/58

It was an impressive first strike, whole tangles burned away to mere ash but apparently fortune was not on their side; Acriculeth's breath ran out half way through one of the large tangles, and the deadly silver threads tumbled on towards the pair. Before the bronze could react it struck his neck and immediately started to eat through his hide and into his flesh. Bellowing in pain the sleek dragon disappeared between to shake it off, his anger burning nearly as badly as the wound did. No matter how careful they tried to be Thread was unpredictable and they would always be at risk. There was no escaping that though, whether with the Wherholds or with Trine they were required to fight.

Crimson Mirath (Queen Wing)
Agilty: 0
HP: 59/59

When Lia had first come to the wherholds, she initially expected that she and her breeding crimson never get a chance to Fly Thread, which seriously limited their options for advancing and taking on some of the more interesting jobs. But then she found out about the Queen Wing, and signed up right away for flamethrower training. Granted that a flamethrower had a much more limited reach than dragonflame, but she'd still be in the air and contributing in the struggle to keep Pern free of their ancient foe, which was what counted.

While other riders collected sacks of firestone and fed it to their dragons, Lia had collected the flamethrower issued to her for the Fall, checked it over to make sure all was in order and it was full of fuel, then mounted Mirath and waited. At the Flightleader's signal (a blue; who'd have ever expected one to lead a Fall? More proof that there was respect and responsibility given to those who worked for it.) Mirath launched herself into the air with the rest of the dragons.

She took their position in the lowest wing, with her and Lia already scanning the sky for any stray Thread that slipped through the upper ranks. Spying a few strands, Mirath swooped closer while Lia turned on the nozzle of her flamethrower. The silver filaments were swiftly reduced to char, leaving Lia quite satisfied. It was only her first time operating the flamethrower in a real Fall after all, and it was a good start.

Jareth
HP: - 47/47

Jareth was ready and waiting, as soon as the call for Threadfall occured he'd roused G'nar and waited while his burly rider saddled up, he made sure G'nar checked his straps were tight enough, they'd recently been replaced and were still a little stiff but they were in fine order especially for a Threadfall battle.

Jareth liked Threadfall, he didn't really like being idle and unless G'nar took him out hunting felines, Threadfall was the only real excitement he got nowadays, he didn't count the fights with the dragonriders at Trine becuase he didn't remember them.

When Queth addressed the wing Jareth said nothing but he bared his teeth as he chewed the firestone, claws dragging rents in the earth before he launched into the air to take his place in the formation. No words really needed to be said, Thread would fall and burn to ash under the heat of his flame. G'nar as usual said nothing, he just gripped the saddle in front of him tightly. Unless it was needed G'nar wouldn't speak except to Jareth if it was needed, they kept an eye on thread and on each other.

As Queth surged forward into the lead Jareth found himself roaring with his fellow Blue Dragon, a roar that ended abruptly into a gout of flame as they hit the leading edge of Thread.

Jareth
HP: - 46/47

Unfortunately as he was beginning to flame a gust of wind took the his target spinning up and towards him, his flame practically useless but thankfully G'nar was on top of it and sent Jareth Between at almost the same second Thread caught the blue's neck, it broke away without doing more damage than a graze. They emerged back into the air and took their place back in the formation quickly, the whole thing taking no more than a minute but it was a minute that thread wasn't being burned and it galled Jareth they had barely dented the number of silver threads falling upon them.

Erinaeth

Agility: -1
HP: 51/51

The crimson pair had arrived with the others, keeping to themselves - as much as Eri could keep to herself anyways - and awaiting orders for the fall. Where Arlii just wanted to get this over with, Erinaeth squealed in excitement at getting to show off to all the handsome males and ooooh look at how close that dragon came to getting hit! She was way too excited about being here. Just do your job, beautiful! We gotta show them how it's done. Leaning lower against her dragon's neck, she urged Erinaeth up and after a ugly silvery clump of thread. With a roar, the crimson twisted and beat her wings towards it, a nice flame escaping her maw.

[Malta and Poecileth
HP: 35/35
Agility: +1
Zenith wing]

Malta and Poecileth HATED threadfall. They hated it so much. But Poecileth knew she had to do it, and Malta knew she had to be there with her.

murmured poecileth soothingly in Malta's mind.

Malta nodded, trying to keep the fear at bay as the silver came towards them.

said Poe, her mind voice a feathery kiss,

Said Malta, handing her dragon some firestone.

Poecileth blew an almost dainty stream of fire at the thread.
said Poecileth to her rider, a little embarassed. She needed to put a bit more power into those bursts.

[Z'radi and Rotatonth
HP: 35/35
Ag: +2]

Z'radi and Rota were ready to fly forth. They were always ready to work.

said Z'adi, preparing a bag. She gave the silver thread a leer of threat. She was going to kick it's a** so hard, it wouldn't even know what hit it! She was getting revved up!

said Rotatonth, chewing her firestone and readying herself to flame, She twisted and turned in the air, dodging thread with ease, she said, releasing a blast of flame.

Acriculeth
Agility: -2
HP: 47/58

Smarting badly from the deep score Acriculeth reappeared in formation but had to spend a moment getting his bearings before he flamed again. The wing was in the thick of it now though, and while he was svelte for a bronze Acriculeth was still a huge beast and very much in danger of catching tangles and strands on thread.

Acriculeth
Agility: -2
Damage taken: 3
HP: 44/58

This time it was the tip of the bronze's wing that fell victim to the Thread; a quick jump between and a hiss of pain was all it amounted to but the pair of them knew very well that these things soon added up.

Crimson Mirath (Queen Wing)
Agilty: 0
HP: 59/59

From down on the lowest level, Mirath had the time and vantage point to see how everyone else was doing. she told her rider, turning her head to watch dragons of all colors flaming the Thread.

Lia responded, pointing out a loose Thread that had slipped through the ranks. Mirath flew over as Lia released another jet of flame from her 'thrower.

Crimson Mirath
Agilty: 0
HP: 56/59

In Mirath's eagerness to reach the Thread her rider had indicated, she didn't keep an attentive watch in her surroundings. As the flamethrower seared the few strands to char, a sharp burn of pain scored Mirath's tail. With a honk of surprise she disappeared between.

Lia asked, alarmed, though through the bond she could already feel her dragon's pain.

Mirath answered, somewhat sheepishly, as they reappeared in the sky. she promised.

Lia turned to try and see the score, but she couldn't make it out at the moment. Ah well, it didn't feel like a bad one, and it could wait to be treated until after the Fall. She turned back to scanning the sky, determined not to let any more Thread catch them by surprise.

T’arn and Tahmoth
Agility: +3
HP: 35/35

All right. Precision and thoroughness above all else - just like we practiced. T'arn half-stood in his straps, craning his neck to see the rest of the wing, then settled back down onto Tahmoth's neck. The little green was steady under him, only the bright reddish flare of her eyes betraying her fierceness. Today wasn't a day for showing off with stunts and tricks, not when life was on the line.

The two of them might not have been flashy, but they were textbook-perfect: rising in formation, breaking away only to make sure that the tangle of Thread was charred thoroughly, and then angling back into place with a flip of Tahmoth's wing. No hesitation.
