Well you might know a few but.. these are some bands I adore:
Heavy/Alternative:
Dir en Grey
DEATHGAZE
Rentrer en Soi
DAZZLE Vision- female vocals, great screamer, cute singer xD
Danger Gang- female band, singers got a heavy voice it's great
MAXIMUM the HORMONE - myfreemp3.eu go there, they have EVERYTHING you could ever search to listen to lol.
POP/MAINSTREAM/REGGAE:

LECCA- japanese shakira pretty much lol

Some of the bands I listed are disbanded but there music is worth checking out. But I also listed many other bands, Whether there music is good or not depends on the person i guess. I tried to list some bands that weren't already listed. (most of these I would just consider to be j-rock... I don't like get to technical.. you know how it works. one song could be all heavy metal type stuff to techno to slow rock to what ever you can think of..)

well... I think I listed enough. there are many more out there. Not all i listed are visual. Might have been at one time but I mostly just listen to the music.. the visual aspect is just a plus.

Exist Trace. They're an all-female visual kei band, the lead singer has some very cool rocking vocals.

I've been looking for Japanese music just to listen to while I'm doing other things. Thanks for this thread!
Right now I've mostly been listening to Koda Kumi(idk she does a variety), Arashi(pop), and a youtube playlist of anime opening/ending songs. smile I also have listened to some of Iruma Rioka because I met her at the Kawaii Kon 2013 and she is a very sweet person with perfect pitch, although not a huge star. I think she'd be considered Visual Kei? She's got a gothic style and her partner is Nemu who plays the electric guitar.
I will be checking out these bands listed though.
