Madryn had been told again and again by their parents about how careful they needed to be when they went out, but he hadn't been prepared for his sister's random pillow attack early that morning.

"H.....hey!" He chuckled being only a couple years older than his sister, if was hard to resist taking a pillow back and hitting his sister with the same amount of force. "Alright I am up I am up!" He continued as he tried to escape from Seuno's pillow attack, slipping off the opposite side of his bed and onto the hard ground.

"I give you win!" the boy continued as he then stifled a yawn and looked up at the window. "...Sueno..the sun isn't even that awake yet and your waking me up?"

Giving a slight roll of the eyes at the silly nick name Madryn struggled to get up and off the floor. Stretching out the stiffness in his back he went to ruffle his little sister hair, mucking it up in a teasing manner.
"Breakfast first! I could eat a dragon." Madryn groaned wrapping his arms around his stomach as if he was in quite a lot of pain due to starvation. Though he quickly laughed and went to change into proper clothes for the day. Which reminded him,
"Sue...your not wearing your pj's to go picking berries are you? You need help getting dressed?"

Even though she had told him she didn't need help, Madryn couldn't help but watch out of the corner of his gaze to make sure there were no troubles. While she was changing he went about to do the same thing for himself. Pulling off his night shirt and changing into rugged coveralls of his own before he slipped on a pair of sturdy boots. Once he had done up the laces he went to put on some work gloves. After all some of the berry bushes had thorns and he would much rather not get stuck by them.

Looking up as he heard his nickname he smiled and went about helping her tie her laces. "I though mom was showing you how to do this." He teased as he repeated the little rhyme that his mother would often sing when she had shown Madryn how to do the same thing.

Once finished he smiled at his little sister before standing up and stretching. "Time to grab something to eat and then we are off! I can't wait to bring the berries home, mom will make the best jams and pies with what we get."

Dragged away from his own breakfast as Seuno had other plans the young boy scarfed down what he could and trotted after his sister a piece of bread still hanging from his mouth. Seuno was so excited about going she had forgotten her jacket....quickly snatching it up and saying farewell to his mother who had already been up preparing bread to put in the oven for the evening meal.

The young boy was also happy to see that Seuno had enough sense to wait for him rather than boldly walk into the forest alone. Inhaling the last of his bread he chewed a few times before swallowing. Giving a bit of a face as the bread probably should of been chewed longer and it felt like a huge lump going down. Coughing slightly he banged on his chest before offering his sister the forgotten coat.

"Come on now, its still early morning and the sun won't be really warm for awhile put this on and I will show you where the berries are." He explained remembering the directions their father had told him many times. After all this was the first time they would be going unsupervised, the forest was fairly safe as hunters tended to frequent the area for dragons which kept them away, for the most part.

Being the responsible big brother he was Madryn made sure that he was on the look out for trouble while they walked to the berry patch. The forest seemed normal, birds were chirping the odd critter or two scampered through the tree tops or in the bushes.

The young boy laughed seeing as most of the berries were not exactly making it into Seuno's basket but he couldn't really get angry at her and continued to pick as well. Though he paused when she was now crawling under the bush to get under the branches and to the really hard to reach berries.

"Hey now get out from under there." Madryn chuckled using the boot of his shoe to tap against her leg. "Your getting filthy."

Putting down his basket which was undoubtedly fuller than Sue's at least until she finally decided to stop eating them. He just shook his head as she tried to get further under the bushes, once she had come out she was even more filthy than he could of possibly imagined. There mother was not going to be impressed, but she should expect that with kids like them.

Perhaps he sensed something amiss as well, as he noticed how she looked about and then refocused on the task at hand. The forest had suddenly gotten quiet so...what could of caused it? Looking over his own shoulder he felt the hairs on the back of his neck prickle. Something..w.as...out there...? Swallowing he tried not to seem nervous, after all it was just his imagination.

The sixth sense..he wished it would react a little bit faster than this. After all just as he thought about checking the bushes his sister's scream startled him, and then not only was there one dragon...there was two. Both dripping wet with a fanged maw that looked as if they were hungry for a taste of children.

Eyes wide his first instinct was to run, but he couldn't leave his sister there. NEVER. So instead he took a deep breath and threw his basket of berries at the dragon directly in front of them, hoping to blind or at least startle the dragon enough to get them enough time to get away.

Grabbing his sister's hand he dragged her forward with him.

"RUN." He shouted as he took a running leap to the right to avoid the snapping teeth of the other dragon before pulling himself and his sister out of harms way.
