Tyra jolted upright as she was slammed against the side of her tiny room. It felt like something was wrong. But then, she could have just turned wrong in her sleep. Celestia only knew how much she enjoyed lounging and sunning her tummy. Something she'd never admit to anyone else. The lioness shrugged, curling back up before the explosion. The tiny bed was nice and warm, and she was sleepy. It wasn't long before the loud boom. She groaned at the noise. It wasn't time to be awake yet. That was before she got splashed with water. Oh Celestia No!
Panicked, Tyra tried to fight the waters that were closing in around her. She didn't want to be wet, she didn't want to fight the current. No no no. She growled, trying to power her way out of the situation. No such luck. The female groaned, telling herself it would be alright. There was no way she was going to just let the waters take her where they wished. Water was nasty, she hated it with a bloody passion.
That was when she was dumped around a tiny little islet. Tyra may not have been the best swimmer, but she could at least make her way to the surface. Salt water stinging her eyes, the lioness kicked and struggled her way to the top of the water to get a breath. Oh sweet air. She inhaled, one ragged scratchy breath. Yeah, this wasn't going to be fun. Now where was that isle she'd been pushed into?
Imitating a doggy paddle, Tyra swam to shore. Ugh. Wet cat. She shook herself off, making sure she had the luxury of being dry before starting on figuring out how to survive.

The night fae had been snoozing on the deck of the ship after the announcements of the staff leaving. Good for them, sticking up for themselves. Or at least, that was what she had thought at the time before sleeping. If she had known a full staff might've stopped the broiler from exploding...well, there was no way to readily know that. As it was her nap had been fully disturbed was she was all but flung off the ship and into the cold water below. In a confused haze she struggled to the surface, her now wet wings making it impossible to fly away. What? We crashed? There were more important things to do though than ponder what had happened. Instead, she started swimming breast-stroke around to see if any pae needed help. But as soon as she started to move around the boat, her body was abruptly pushed away. Currents. A very strong current. She tried to swim against it to go back, to help, but it was stronger than her. As it pulled her along, she was forced to put all her strength into staying above the water rather than control any sort of direction.
~~~~~~~~~
Water! The female woke with a start, clawing at the water to stay afloat. Only, there was no water. Niday blinked at the shore, realizing she had been clawing at the sand. I...must have passed out as soon as reaching... The ocean lapped at her feet as she somehow managed to avoid the high tide that would drown her in her sleep. Slowly, painfully she half crawled higher up on the beach to collapse again. Everything ached from her working so hard. No resting yet. Though she dearly deserved a respite. With a deep breath, she pushed herself to a sitting position to be able to look around properly. Sand, sand, and more sand. And...something red. She narrowed her eyes to hone in on the object further down the beach. A moving red thing. That meant standing up an investigating. She winced. Maybe in a minute.
Tyra was busy shaking herself off from that awful water. Oh how she hated the stuff. Her mane always took forever to dry when it got wet and she was stuck waiting for it to dry out so she didn't overheat. She grumbled to herself, debating trying to contact her inner lion to help dry off... No, that was too risky, she didn't know if he'd let her take back over... She'd just have to tough this out.
Sharp ears honed in on scratching noises. Was there something else on the beach with her? She hadn't exactly been paying attention when she'd gotten to shore. She may not have been able to see what it was clawing at the sand, but she certainly did see the sparkle in the sand where a metal pipe was half buried.
With a grin, she sauntered over to the sparkling thing. Shiny. Tyra grinned, shiny things were best. Even more when they had weight to them. She squatted, digging up the object. Must have washed to shore when she did. The faun picked up the metal pipe, ignoring the dry sand pouring out of it. Time to see what was clawing the sand.
With a slight grin, she resumed her saunter towards the clawing noise.
The moving red thing was getting closer. Great. With a slow breath, she pushed herself into a squat before raising up to stand. It was around then that she realized her staff was mysteriously missing, as was her hair tie. Her long, black and white hair stuck to her like a second skin. The ends tickled her lower back, reminding her why she kept it up. Her bracers remained though. Not exactly helpful, but it was something. She gave a quick look around, wondering briefly if her staff had washed up with her. First glance revealed nothing. Her golden eyes flicked back up, the red form now close enough to make out to be a pae. So she wasn't alone. While she enjoyed her solitude, Niday also was smart enough to readily acknowledge more pae meant more help. The island was obviously not home, so help would gladly be accepted. Now that she was in the presence of another, she dared not show weakness and walked without wince towards the faun-esc pae. The other loosely fit the description of a faun but then again, didn't. "Greetings. Are you also from the cruise?" She noted the metal contraption in the others hand, quite obviously some sort of piece from the boat.
Tyra changed her grip a bit on the metal pipe, she wanted to be ready to lift and swing if she needed to attack. A nagging voice at the back of her head told her that she should just swing first and ask later. The lioness faun knew better, she would likely need this pae in order to get off this bloody isle. She didn't like the fact that they were surrounded by water.
And then it spoke. Female voice. Well, it was about what she expected, to be stranded with someone who would probably have to be taken care of. That was just great. Tyra didn't care for the thought, but it would be a lackey if she needed it.
"The ship that crashed?" She replied, keeping her grip on the pipe. There was no way Tyra was going to let go of it, not without a damn good fight.
Of course the female saw the grip on the item changed, bringing more attention to it. She had no interest in stealing it, but rather was more wary of it being swung into her head. "The same." It wasn't lost on her either that the other didn't answer her question. The red pae was wary, but Niday could scarcely blame her. To the other, she was the stranger with shining battle bracers and a cold demeanor. "So I'm in need of the essentials until I can leave in a boat, whether my own or a rescue teams. If you would help, I'd be appreciative. But if you do not want to, I won't hinder you." She wasn't the type to waste time beating around the bush. "Have you seen or know of a fresh water area or a gathering of growth?" She was however, similar to her brother Raken in taking charge. If the red pae wanted to join, that was the most favorable option. If she did not however, Niday would not bat an eye.
"Go from sunning myself on the deck to covered in sand..." She grumbled to herself, not really caring if this other pae heard her or not. If the black one was going to assume that Tyra was a native to this isle, she was just going to lead her on a wild goose chase. The thought of it was rather interesting.
"Growth is all around, you just have to open your eyes to see it." The faun almost spat. She was working to keep her voice at the same level of distrust as the first words out of her mouth had been at. It was a harder job than she was expecting. But that was also because Tyra knew she needed the other pae if she wanted any hope of not getting her fur wet again. At least her hair was starting to flicker up once more. That was nice.
"Fresh water... No, just woke up a few minutes before I made it over here." She admitted, offering the one weakness as her grip on the pipe loosened. She wasn't going to let it go, but she also wasn't going to go swinging away at the other any time soon. At least not until a threat was established.
Snarky. The midnight pae simply looked at the other, unchanging. From the first -albeit quiet- admission, they both were stranded and Niday was not about to waste energy bickering. Especially when under her kept together exterior she was completely exhausted. "Then there is a lot of work to be done, hopefully before the sun sets. Obviously we will accomplish more together than we would separately. My suggestion is we split up and comb the island for resources, then return to this area in approximately..." Her golden eyes flicked to the sun briefly before going back to the unnamed red pae. "Midday for collaboration. Agreed?" Partially the hope was to get a little further from the others metallic weapon. Even though the grip was more easy-going, her new 'teammate' looked just as dangerous as herself. After all, the night fae wasn't the only one there with armor.
Tyra wasn't about to take orders from some pae that thought she was the best around. Yes, it was what she was going to suggest, but that didn't stop the faun from being rather irate at the concept. Idly, she swung the pipe in a circle, letting it come to rest on her shoulder. In all, she looked far more dangerous than she had intended. Her guard wasn't going down any time soon.
"We shall see." Tyra was fairly good at lounging in the sunlight without a care in the world. That desire was intensified by the darker pae trying to boss her around. The only other creatures she took orders from were the faun higher than her in the hierarchy. They had earned the right to give orders, and she was more than happy to listen to them.
Without much more, the firey redhead took a step back, not letting her back face this dark pae. The faun wanted her back covered, even if it was simply by herself.
Who was in charge made little difference in her world. If the red faun had said the same thing first, Niday would have taken it in stride and agreed. But to her, survival was more important the petty pride. At the others lofty response, the night fae already started to walk away. "Indeed." Whether or not the other returned at midday with useful information was moot. She was bound and determined to get off this island with or without the others assistance. Perhaps the other would see that.
As she walked, the female kept a golden eye in her peripheral to catch any hidden attack. She was confident enough to face her back to the other, but smart enough to be wary. Hmm...Haven't even exchanged names. Niday dismissed it however as unimportant. Maybe later if the other faun proved intelligent enough to help instead of hinder, she'd be worthy to partake in social small talk. Later. After they were out of immediate danger of starvation, dehydration and exposure.
Tyra waited until the darker pae had a few more feet of distance between them before she to turned and walked away. The firey female hadn't desired quite the show, but it had turned out that way. On second thought, however, Tyra stopped and marked the sand with the pipe. She wouldn't remember anything in the area if she didn't leave a mark.
It seems there were other pae out there just as distrusting as she was. Whatever the case, Tyra had gone out in search of water. One of the more important, if not nasty, things needed for their survival. It was an interesting thought to say the least.
Yes, there was water all around them. Was it drinkable? Not a chance. Too much salt. She was coated in the stuff. Idly, Tyra could hear her hair protesting it's usual crackling appearance because it was so caked with salt from the ocean. But she was a being rather inclined towards fire and earth, if need be, Tyra was certain she could make a fire to boil some water. She would probably need to in any case. Better to make sure the water was safe than to drink something horrible.
With that in mind, the faun kept walking the beach. Eventually she would find something of use out here. Drift wood, ferns, tree cover... She'd seen a couple trees off in the distance earlier, but she couldn't gauge how far off they were. It was a small island, how could she not be able to tell the difference? Perhaps she was already dehydrated. Tyra shook that thought, not liking the notion of that.
She'd been distracted enough thinking about the trees that she had seen in the distance that she forgot to look down. Tyra had tripped into a pool of water. Groaning, she pulled herself out of it as fast she could. If this was fresh water, she was going to ruin it with the salt caked over her. If it wasn't, she was making it worse.
Well, it was something at least. And it'd taken her a portion of the time she'd been thinking it would. Tyra grinned, stretching. She'd spend the remainder of the time drying out. She'd earned a nice stretch in the sun after finding that water.
~~~~~
It was well past midday when Tyra had woken up from her nap. She was dry, mane and tail flaming the way they were supposed to once more. She'd retrieved her pipe and was walking back to the spot the other pae had wished to meet at. It was easy enough to get there, just follow the beach and look for the mark where the pipe had been. Or the angry black pae that was likely waiting for Tyra to get her lazy rump over there. Tyra wasn't lazy, she was just easily distracted by the warm sun on her soft fur.. Now that it was soft instead of caked with salt.
"I found water."

As soon as a proper distance had been placed between them, Niday relaxed to bring both eyes forward in her search. A little further still, and she allowed her shoulders to sag in her exhaustion. Just because she didn't show her aches and pains, didn't mean they had magically disappeared. Though that would've been nice. That looks familiar. A light frown appeared on her forehead as she strained her sights forward. Yes, that did look familiar. Her pace quickened. Her staff! How useful. As she reached it, she plucked the item up. Very useful indeed - as a support. The tired female leaned against it as she hobbled along.
The red female was right. There did seem to be growth on the island, which meant worse came to worse they could nibble on some leaves for the meager water they'd provide. Though the leaves could be poisonous, meaning that would be a very, very last resort. More importantly however, she caught some trees steadily getting closer with every step. Trees. That meant wood for burning and building. Leaves for bedding. Perhaps even animal life to hunt. Alone, Niday allowed her face to broaden in a smile to show her excitement. This was very good news. Despite her body protests, she quickened her pace again.
Her efforts were soon rewarded as she stepped under the first tree's shade. It wasn't a dense forest by any means. Could barely be called a forest really. But she heard the sweet sounds of birds chirping overhead, bringing her golden eyes up. Birds could be cooked and eaten, if they were able to catch any. And birds ate things...like the delicious mangoes that hung above her head. Niday lifted her staff up and started to beat down the ripest looking ones, letting them fall into the soft sand. She proceeded to sit down under the shade with one and dug her fingernails to scrape away the skin. Then, dug into its sweet insides.
~~~~
She only dawdled long enough to eat a mango before resuming her search. In the end, the female walked back with an armful of mangoes, a handful of sticks, and a rock. Thus she arrived right on time at their meetup location. It was simple enough even without a marking, as they were the only pae walking around in sand. Only, the red female wasn't there. Decided to survive on her own? She sighed at the thought. Despite her uncaring demeanor, Niday had truly been hoping the other would come around with helping. Since it seemed she was on her own however, she had to work twice as hard. She sat down with her treasures and picked up a stick. Carefully with her rock, she started to carve a point. If she wanted to hunt, she needed a weapon after all.
~~~~~
Hours passed, the evening sun finding the fae with an adequately sharp stick. She was admiring her handiwork when a noise brought her attention. Her golden eyes lifted and fastened on the radiant red pae. She looked a good bit less disheveled than she had been left. But that wasn't her main thought. The other was late, by more than just a few minutes. Hours. Unreliable, and untrustworthy. Niday ticked off in her mind, like check marks on a list. "And I found food." Her immediate thought was to horde her mangoes. The other had proven to be an unreliable ally. Why share her precious resource? Her second thought was more reasonable. For now, Niday would take the high road. The fae plucked a mango from her small pile, and tossed it at the faunesc female. "Did you have trouble?" It was obvious the tardy appearance was of poor time management skills. But perhaps she had a good reason. Attacked by wild animal, fell down a cliff...
Thing was, the other looked entirely too refreshed to have been held up against her will.
Tyra caught the fruit tossed at her. Redish and orange in color. Mango? The faun didn't seem to mind, it was good for both liquids and nourishments. "Mangos?" She asked before biting into the fruit she'd been offered.
The faun took a moment to enjoy the bite of the deliciously fresh fruit. They'd have to walk back to the waterhole soon anyways. Tyra took a moment to ponder the question. Trouble? She'd gotten wet again, had to dry herself off and keep her armor from rusting... Trouble, no, a pain in the a**? Most definitely.
"Fell in the water." She shrugged. "And the sun was warm. We're stuck here for a while, might as well enjoy the sunlight." Another bite. The black pae had shared her find, Tyra might as well share her water. "Pretty sure the water is fresh, and there's plenty of drift wood around to burn and boil the water."

she nodded at the first question. "And birds. There's a small gathering of trees down the path I went." She then lived her new weapon. It wasabout the thickness of ones wrist, which was why it took so long to carve. But it was sturdy. "And I crafted a sharp weapon to your blunt." It was just as much to show her usefulness as it was to display her danger. It was good to establish fighting would have bad consequences for both parties involved. "Good find. But we need something to put the water in to burn..." She pointedly looked at the others aforementioned blunt weapon. It had a round cavity to it. If they sliced it open, it would be a good bowl.
