Yawning, Calder turned to the pathetic lump that was now a very abused Barth. It would take him a few days at least to recover, but Calder was already planning to disturb his sleep again in order to further the punishment.

Rising out of bed, he slipped on his battered kilt, threw on his shirt, left it unbuttoned, and was ready to address the other end of the problem. There was no reason to freshen up, as he hoped Zar's animal half would smell even a slight hint of what had transpired and get the point. Smell was very important to him, and having Zar perfumed all over his boilfriend was not something he liked smelling without explanation.

Shutting the door behind him, he headed to Zar's room, wasting no time in knocking on it, waiting a moment, before testing the door handle to see if it opened.

Zar's door was locked, a habit he'd retained from the days when Nuru would plaintively return to the room and he was too afraid to face the dog boil and the emotions he made him feel. He was in a good mood, a very good mood, and had been the last few days. He'd sharpened his claws, eaten well and done some exercise, and he was feeling like a million seeds.

His desk hadn't even been touched since he swept all of the ruined papers into the waste paper basket and the deep claw gouges in the wood remained. His out tray was empty and his in tray overflowing. And he simply didn't care.

He was sipping a glass of wine when the door was knocked, and brightened immediately, swinging it open with a toothy smile.

He really wasn't expecting Calder.

The smile pissed him off, and his eyes instantly went from deep green to black at seeing it. Tail flicking, he considered that at least they had fun, but again was frustrated that they had done this behind his back, without signs of it even being of interest to them, and again, not telling him about it until now. It was aggravating, and now Calder had to size Zar up again and the potential he was in lieu of events.

This was the person Barth was introducing to their inner circle. It was fun to toy with ideas in his own head, but there were real life consequences that he had to understand when playing around with someone. If Zar was going to be looked at as a long term investment, then Calder had to consider that he was going to be here for keeps. That meant while Calder put a few facts straight with Barth last night, he had to make things perfectly clear to the incubi where he fell in all of this. If they thought for one moment that Calder was in no way involved, they had another thing coming.

He did not lay on his back and just let relationships bud around in his flower garden.

"You smelled up my demon."

"Your demon?" he asked, refusing to drop his smile. "He's his own demon, every demon belongs, quite strictly to themselves. It was a simple business encounter, that was all." He looked the other boil over lazily, curious as to what could possibly be the reason why he was so different in demeanor from the last time they'd spoken. "Can I help you with something?"

"I know what business you had. Barth and I had words over it." He moved in closer, making sure he was close enough in case Zar decided he might want to shut the door on him, which meant he was also close to the demon.

"What I mean is that we need to talk about a few things. You know I'm with Barth, and there are certain unwritten details in our relationship. I'd like to clear a few things up." His eyes continued to darken to deep pools of black with a creeping white around the edges.

"I'm sure you have the energy for a little talk, right?"

Zar did not step back as Calder moved closer, even going as far as to splay his wings and curl his tail, there were certain rules as far as he was concerned about entering another individual's room without an invitation. Invitations were rather important to demons.

"You expected me to have any other sort of business?" he asked with brisk politeness. "I assumed you could tell as much when I confided in you the nature of what I was and introduced you to my tail."

He wasn't adverse to further conversation however, and finally deigned to permit the kelpie into his room, stepping aside from the doorway with a formal bow. "Do come in, I should love to clear up whatever details you should like to put to paper. I certainly have a great deal to spare." He laughed dryly, as if to point out the wit of his own joke.

"On paper? I might wind up staining it." He warned, walking in and turning about. He just needed in the room. There was little else he was here for.

Still, he couldn't help but take a deep breath. Where exactly had the deed been done. Barth was easy to lay down anywhere, and he wondered if they were playing on the couch or the bed. Slowly, he began wandering, tail flicking back and forth as he did as his ears pivoted to listen.

"I already knew your nature. You revealed that much, but you never showed a lot of interest in Barth as far as the business you two had together. You also didn't seem to be that thrilled about your nature, and didn't hint at wanting the demon I am with. I thought you were just having a bit of fun teasing him. You also knew I was with him."

He passed by the couch, picking up a pillow and gently smelling it. When it wasn't what he was looking for, he tossed it back on the couch. "Is this a fling for you or something more? Are you challenging me, Zar?"

Zar watched Calder with blank, cool interest. "You would be surprised how demons show interest to other demons then. I always had interest in him and what his business was, you were present for our discussion before we went seeking artifacts, no?. And I did indeed know you were with him." he inclined his head. "What bearing did that have on anything? You aren't a human are you?" he said the word human with a curl of disgust.

He wasn't very pleased with the manhandling of his possessions, but for the time being, tolerated it with good humor.

"I am an Incubus my dear boy." he offered levelly. "I thrive on physical intercourse. It is practically enthusiastic discussion for my kind. It was and is, a business arrangement of sorts, on Barth's own terms, not mine." His smile sweetened. "Quarrel sir? No sir. But if you do, I am for you, I serve as good a man as you."

"I'm sorry, the last thing I remember was you getting your tail in knots over the fact I said I was prettier than you." He said, ignoring the demons knowing demons topic all together. It grew tiresome after a while to constantly be reminded that he was ignorant of how demons handled each other and how ignorant he was at times to their world. He was love to be able to tell Barth and everyone else in his party that they wouldn't understand monster things, but they never really associated with monsters. Calder was still waiting for that opportunity.

Turning, he moved over to the bed, breathing the air around it before taking a pillow. "So loose one boilfriend and go for another? Is that it?" He smelled the cushion and threw it back on the bed, bored.

"I doubt you would know how to serve a monster like me. Barth may be one thing, but I'm a entirely different matter all together. He might even have some fun playing with a young little boil.." Calder smiled at poking at an sort of hint of inexperience. "...but he knows who is better at the game of temptation and pleasure. I'm a creature of that island as well." He moved away from the bed to continue searching. "You'd be out of your element going up against me,[it] little lamb."

He passed him, grinning. "In this herd, I'm the stallion and you're but a colt."

Zar stayed impassive, simply watching Calder go through his things and feeling nothing for the objects, formerly everything to him, that were set into disarray.

He felt nothing until Calder brought up Nuru, and then all over again it was like someone seized his black heart in their claws and tossed it against the wall. "I never want another boilfriend." he said, and his voice was monotone again.

At the goading and bragging, he simply inclined a brow, he wasn't one to rile up easily, he took the insults, and though they hurt in many cases, he gave no surface level hint that they did. He wasn't able to substantiate his beliefs to the contrary, he had no sources to cite.

"If it makes you feel better." he added, but there was implied defiance in his tone.

Calder sighed, stopping as he stood in the room, unable to tell where the deed was done, and if it was even done here. For all he knew, they could have found a broom closet or went to the Doombuggy shed.

"It doesn't." He turned to where Zar stood. "And if you are with Barth as a long-term business partner, as he has put it, then you are his boilfriend in some regards. That means you are part of my herd." As much as he was still trying to figure out what that meant.

"I just don't want you to think that he is yours only or will eventually be yours only. I have risked life and limb for him. I'm not about to let him go, not for you, not for anyone."

He stepped away again, moving to another corner of the room. "I wish I was at least given some warning. I was pushing you two together to be friendly, but this. I guess I should kick myself for being this successful."

Zar gave Calder a slightly baffled sort of look, for one thing, he had no idea that Barth considered him a long term business partner. He hadn't even been one hundred percent certain it was a business partnership rather than a transaction. He noted it and pressed on. "I fail to see what benefits exclusive possession of Barth would give me. No business runs on two individuals, no successful business anyway. Why on Halloween would I ever request you to rescind your investments?" It simply didn't compute for Zar, he felt like Calder being with Barth was simply a deal sweetener, added security and backup, likewise with Christof's expertise in manufacturing. "I have a vested interest in you staying exactly where you are."

He shrugged at the Kelpie's lamentation of his success. "If you push an Incubus at someone, there is generally only one eventual outcome."

"You seem to have none of the territorial drive that monsters do, even with the little bit of a beast you show in your looks. I would think that with every demon wanting contracts and your tendency to want things on paper, you'd want him completely. Also, not all demons want to be associated with a monster in any way. We don't rank really high on a demon's list, even when it comes to being used. Barth is different, but I know enough with being with other demons that I'm not viewed the same." He turned away, and noticed the office where Barth typically worked. His "in" box was full.

He started to walk his way over to it.

"What vested interest do you have in me being with Barth? He seems to have his own ideas regarding you and I." He stopped at the desk.

He leaned over it and took a breath.

Zar smiled sweetly at Calder. "I do not mind monsters. I do not mind anything in particular. If it has the suitable parts to engage in entertaining diversions I can deal with its presence. Of course I would never expect the same social standards from another race, but one does what one can." His tail stopped idly waving as Calder moved to the desk, taking a much more feline and anxious flicking.

"The vested interest is that you care about him and will presumably keep him relatively safe. It is always handy to have a bodyguard on hand."

"Oh yes. Bodyguard. I'm good for just sheer bulk and strength. It's the pride of monsters after all." Though he should have hoped he was seen as more of a asset than just that. "But I offer Barth a lot more than that, and not just in ways of midnight fun." He smelled it, as much as it was a bit harder since it wasn't fabric. There was no smell of polish or wood cleaner to mask it, and he walked around to look at the edge of the desk and the cuts into the wood. That was not the typically abuse furniture usually took for a demon doing office work. In the monster dorm, it was typical to see claw marks on everything, but not here. He also knew enough about Barth's own claws to know what grooves they did and did not make.

"Your social standing, I'll explain as best as you might be able to understand. You're not a monster after all, and even Barth is still learning. If you are invested in him, you are part of his herd, meaning my herd. The herd, as it stands, if me, Barth, Christof, and now you."

Reaching out, he let his fingers trace the grooves on the desk. "You did have fun." He frowned, his own tail flicking. "I'm surprised you didn't break the desk. Furniture doesn't usually last with me." He said, boosting.
