"You're here because you are!" came a growl from a commnity bus. Apparently, a cat-human was trying to peel off the tentecles of a certain Nautilus child. Said Nautilus child was resisting quite hard. "Naughty Laial! If you don't stop resisting and play here for at least an hour, NO MORE DVDS FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH!"
That got Laial to come along. With Maji, he never could tell if she was exagerating or telling the truth. And really, he didn't want to find out. Besides, whatever an hour was, it couldn't be that bad...right? "Why'm I here?" Maji didn't normally bring him to public places like this.
"Because you need to be social and interact with other people, otherwise you'll be just like Maji when you grow up. And you don't want that, do you?" she asked in a dangerously calm voice.
This sentance got Laial as far as the wave pool. He wasn't quite up to speed running, but he was getting there. He was actually walking fairly fast.

Laial paused and blinked at the girl. She had skin like his, but instead of tentecles and a shell, she had a tail that was spit at the end. "Are yu a 'Corp too?" he asked her. She looked like a mix of human and...some animal with a tail. He was that observent. But she looked like she had to stay on top of the water. Maybe she was an animal that swam, but couldn't breathe water? Interesting...
Maji, in the mean time, was eating ice cream under an umbrella. She wasn't outside much, and that fact showed itself by her paler skin almost reflecting in the sun. She started muttering under her breath about the weather.

Laial 'hmphed'. Why couldn't he swim as well as that? Could he even swim? He took a few steps more into the water, until it went almost to his neck. He attempted to stand up with his tentecles and float that way, but he quickly splashed backwards into the water. Oh, how he hated his shell...
Maji had one eye on Laial and her other eye on the gaurdian who was looking around for something. Stange person... Her eyes zipped back to Laial when he created a sploosh. "Laial, if you're going to swim, do it father out!" she called to him. The last thing she needed was his shell to crack.

Laial thought for a minute and grinned. "Tha' okay, I can swim underwater!" he grinned. Okay, maybe he wasn't completely sure he could, but Maji had said that D-Corp said that one of his abilities was water breathing, so in theory he could, right? He started to walk in up to his neck.
Maji twitched slightly. "Hello," she answered, not friendly nor cold. Damnit! I forgot about him! She kept an eye on him as she ate her ice cream. Most of her attention was on her charge, though.

Laial took a deep breath and walked in over his head. It felt quite nice, actually. The water swirling all around him had a rather soothing effect. He exhaled slightly and produced...bubbles! He could breathe bubbles too! They weren't as nice as the other girl's, but they were bubbles! He grinned and tried to wrap a tentecle around one, only to find it pop. That's okay, he could always create more! He exhaled again.
Maji stiffened at the mention of 'criminal activities'. She had worn a hat and gloves to hide her cat-parts, so how could he...? "D-Depends who's asking," she nervously answered. She felt like a rabbit caught in a trap.

Maji felt her ears relax inside her hat. "Well...I have heard rumers..." Maji started. "Some staff and owners have small charges against them..." She wondered what kind of work this man did, to bring up such a subject.
Laial blew more bubbles, then came to a relization. "I don't have any more air!" he mouthed. Just when it started to get fun, too. He sighed in disappointment. Back to the surface for more air. He began a complex movement of the tentecles-attempting-to-stand thing again.

Maji cocked her head and thought for a moment; the fact that that caused her hat to slip slightly unoticed by her. She immediatly dismissed the 'perfect kid' part, most parents thought that. What got her thinking was what they would do if something happened to the gaurdian. "Eh, they probably would just throw her in a new home. Maybe even erase her memory of you so she adjusts better." Oh, those words were sure comforting. "Wouldn't put it past a company that uses blackmail to have people take care of their creations."
Laial still collasped under the shell's weight. Sighing water again, he sat at the bottom trying to think of what to do. An idea flashed through his head as he took a big gulp of water and laid his tentecles on the floor like a spring. He forced the water out his mouth as he pushed up with his tentecles. Said action got him breaking the surface of the water to inhale some more. His appendeges quickly grabbed the inner tube that was floating by so he could stay above water.
