Step 1: Capture Win: 50-100 (-5 for Drakeins, -10 for Vlidean demerit) 65-100 Rolled: 76 Outcome: Success! Words: 457
Sam couldn't deny that he appreciated the quiet even more since bringing home a Dactyl for Crowell to call his own. Especially after training the little beast. Now, the caves the clan of Gaili called their homes was almost always blissfully silent. Except for about ten minutes, once every day. Every day, like clockwork, a single Vlidean, young and curious with its bright colors on display would glide through the rocky cliffs of Sam's home. And every day, Crowell's Dactyl would peep out a signal at seeing the foreign creature. And every day the Vlidean would display it's pleasure at being called out by hissing spitting and screeching in return until every Drakein had retreated back to their lairs in hopes of gaining some solace from the beast.
At first, Sam almost considered it amusing, since the Dactyl, startled, would fly out from Crowell's lair and attack the flashy creature. The young Vlidean was hardly any larger than the Dactyl and with it's poison, Sam thought the trained animal would have an easy win... Alas, that was not the case. The two would wage a sky battle, all talons and beaks and screeches. Eventually, though, even that was taken away as the Dactyl learned that the Vlidean wouldn't try to harm him or his clan-mates so long as no one interfered with it. Plus, it seemed to be getting larger each day. So now, it was just peeps and screeches every day. Thankfully, it didn't last very long, but after a few days it was starting to become a nuisance...
One day, Sam was sunning on a nice rocky outcrop, high over the caves and lairs of his clanmates. Unfortunately, he lost track of time, and before it knew it, it was time for the noisy Vlidean to come flying around. Sam had no idea how the creature instantly spotted him, out of his usual place, but upon seeing something out of the ordinary, it let out its angry calls and flew toward him like it wasn't an eighth of his size. As soon as he was opposed, Sam realized he'd had enough. Before the colorful creature could get too close, Sam leaped from his perch, pouncing directly on top of it. It was a miracle he didn't smash the little beast as the top of the crashed to the bottom of the crags. He tossed it away from him, hitting it against the rocks. While the beast was stunned, Sam called on his magic to form a small enclosed tent from the rocks to keep it trapped. Maybe after long enough in the box, it would be silent.
Nodding, Sam flew back to his lair, leaving the captured beast whining at the bottom of the cliffs.

Step 2: Taming Win: 50-100 (-5 for Drakeins, -10 for Vlidean demerit) 65-100 Rolled: 32 Outcome: Fail Words: 219
Samael couldn't deny that he felt bad about leaving the little beast there all night long. It was far enough away that if the Drakeins hunkered back in their caves, it's crying couldn't be heard at all. It was early morning by the time the creature piped up with renewed vigor. Loud, renewed vigor. No matter where Sam lay, quiet would not overtake him again. He padded to the edge of his cliff and glowered down into the valley below.
With a gasp of surprise, he instantly went to his stomach, tucking his wings in close and flattening himself to the rock. It was the youngling making all that noise, but an older, bigger Vlidean, who was now throwing herself against Sam's rocky enclosure to free her baby. The Drakein was half afraid to let it go, but as the mother's calls echoed up the cliffs, rousing his clanmates, he decided to take one for the team. It was harder to move the rocks from so far away, but he only had to inch them apart enough for the youngster to scramble free. Once out, the two Vlidean greeted each other obnoxiously, and Sam slunk back into the recesses of his cave, hoping they wouldn't appear at the entrance... Eventually, the two flew off, taking their noises with them.
