It was a cool day with a blue sky, fluffy clouds, and a gentle breeze. Pushing her hair back, and pulling her hat down further to keep it in place, Truffles crawled through the pokey bushes with a heavy groan. The small eevee could smell the ripe berries, but just couldn't see them. Of course, there was no way around the thorn-filled plants...
Coming out the other side of the thicket, she groaned again, but with delight. A whole bunch of berry bushes, filled with berries from being protected by the brier thorns. Brushing her pants off, bright purple eyes danced around. Now, how to get them back to the house..? She pondered this for quite a bit before she yanked off her hat and filled it to the brim. Quite pleased, she began to wiggle her way out the path she'd come.
Suddenly though, right at the edge of the bushes, she felt a tug on her pants. They'd gotten caught on the thorns! Growling, she yanked hard, but only managed to get more of the fabric tangled. Crap! "Aatami?" She tried to peer through the branches. Where had that boy gone off to? "Aatami! Oy!"

Days like today made Mitsuru very glad that she had decided to stay in the forest. As much as she liked her new friends human life just wasn't for her, not when there was so many cool things in nature! She'd been up since the sunrise, always on the move from one part of the world to the next, making moderate time wild on foot.
But now she was so hungry. It really wasn't fair that a few acorns wouldn't fill up her bigger stomach, but it was to be expected. She just needed more food, that was all! And oh the berries that she could smell! It made her mouth water to think of them, being so close and yet so far.
Granted, that had been before she'd come across the little furry child stuck in the bushes. Why, they looked just like Cupcake! "Is that what you are? An Aatami?" She'd never heard of an Aatami pokemon before, but as she stepped out from the brush and got closer she could see the Aatami's predicament. "Hey, you're stuck!"

Ready to start tearing at the grabbing plant with her hands, she froze when she heard a stranger's voice. Who-? She looked up and blinked in confusion. An Aatami? "I am not Aatami!" she snorted, shaking her head. "I'm an eevee!" Her eyes widened again at the observation, and she groaned loudly. "Duuuuh! Why don't you-?" Hold on... She couldn't send this stranger to look for her brother. He would surely freak out and run, and she didn't want to be stuck here any longer!
Taking a deep breath, she looked up at the stranger with a slightly less irritated expression and tone. "Could you.. please.. help me get out? ...My pants got stuck on the stupid thorns."

Mitsuru jabbed the base of her staff into the ground, and squeezed herself in closer to Truffles and the briars. "An Eevee, huh?" So that's what Cupcake was. He should have told her a lot sooner; then maybe this little one wouldn't be so tore up about it. Had she insulted her?
"Stop moving around, you're just making it worse. And step back into them; the pressure is just going to tear them." Without waiting she grabbed hold of Truffle's pants, ignoring the thorns scratching at her legs, and started to maneuver the fabric.

Truffles sighed. "Of course I'm an eevee!" She scooted to the side to make room without digging herself further into the thorns. Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself back as requested. Sitting very still, she felt her pants jostled around, and just trieds to keep her foot out of the way. She heard a small tear, and then her leg was free. Groaning heavily, she crawled on out from the makeshift tunnel and looked back at her pants. "Great," she muttered, reaching down to pluck at the long tear in the fabric.
Huffing softly, she looked at the young pokemon who had helped her. "Thanks. ...Are you okay?"

She tried not to, but it was hard not to tear the eevee's pants, as much as Mitsuru tried to worm her out. The Shaymin shifted her legs around the thorns, her flowers flipping around on her head in the subsequent breeze. "I can't fix it," she said up front. "but I do have extra. Back at my den, that is."
They were small, as they'd been for her younger self, but she'd never gotten a chance to wear them. Mitsuru plucked herself out of the brush, nimbly moving and twisting as if she'd done it a thousand times, which she probably had. All the best berries were there, after all! "Oh, me? Yes, yes, yes! I am fine; just fine. Scratches aren't bad." She plucked up her staff, and held it in a loose grip. "Do you live here, Eeevee?"

Truffles shook her head and lifted it slightly. "I can fix it when I get back to.. my own place." She looked around, but her brother was still nowhere in sight. Where had he gone to...? She looked down at her pants again and wrinkled her nose. These were supposed to be sturdier than that...
Long ears twitching, she sighed heavily and looked at the young woman with exasperation. "My name is not Eevee. I am an Eevee. My name is Truffles. Jeez. And I don't live around here. A ways off that way." Pursing her lips, she looked at her helper curiously. "Who and what are you?

"Oh, okay." Maybe she could follow her, find out where her place was, and sit in the bushes? It wasn't stalking if you'd talked to someone first, right? They were friends and this was okay.
"An Eevee named Truffles? So your a furry thing named after a human food?" Mitsuru tilted her head and smiled. "That's awesome! I wish I was named after food. I'd be Cheeseburger." She nodded. They were her favorite and it'd be the best sort of name. "My name is Mitsuru and I'm a Shaymin. Please don't freak out; some people act weird when they find out about that." Not that she knew why. Was it bad to be a Shaymin?

Truffles cocked an eyebrow. "What? What human food? I don't know why I was named Truffles. I am Truffles, and that's what matters. Not why." The trainer who'd abandoned her and her brother was the one to name her... She didn't care about what had motivated the name.
....Cheeseburger?
"Mitsuru." She pursed her lips again and placed her hands onto her hips. "Why should I freak out if you're a Shaymin? You've been nice to me so far, even if you are weird. Quit complicating things."

"They're sweet, and sometimes chewy." She remembered stealing some once, and having some boy chase her screaming for them. A girl ran after her too, but she was more interesting in the ring box that fell out of his pocket than the Shaymin who'd ruined their picnic.
"Oh, well, sorry." Mitsuru straightened herself up and smiled apologetically. She knew she wasn't the best talker, so she'd try extra hard not to fub up anymore. "Do you need any help...getting your berries, that is?"

Truffles twitched her ears. Sorry? This girl would get along well with her brother... "It.. it's okay. You don't need to apologize." Kicking at the dirt, she looked at the little tunnel she'd just been rescued from. "Well, I filled my hat already... but if you know an easier way to get in there, that would be helpful."

Mitsuru's demeanor pulled a 360 turn about, and with an easier smile she reached for Truffle's hand to pull her away. "I'll show you the way out! The easier way, anyway. It's a little longer, but that just means we'll have more time to talk."
A little friend all for her own! She swung her staff happily, her thick hair bouncing around like a bush in the breeze. "Who or what is an Aatami and why were you calling out for it or him? Where did you get your human cloths? Where are you migrating to in the winter? I'm thinking about the city, because I have a few friends there, but I''m not sure they'll want me all winter."

Truffles stiffened when he hand was so casually grabbed, yelping as she was pulled along by the teen. What? Was this girl trying to steal her?! Oh, wait, no... just leading around another way to the berries. She held her hat to keep as many of the berries in it as she could while they hurried.
She pressed her lips into a frown, and groaned. So many questions. "Aatami is my brother, and looks like me. He was supposed to be helping me, but I bet he wandered back home." She huffed and shook her head. He better not be stuck somewhere. "Well, where did you get your clothes?" she shot back, perturbed by the shooting off of questions.

Mitsuru looked back at her new friend with a light hearted smile. It was so good to make new friends, especially Eevee friends! Since she was like Cupcake she had to be softer inside, underneath all of those thorns. Just like berries!
"Another Eevee? Are you from a clan? How many Eeevees are there?" There was more than one Eevee?! It just dawned on her then, at that moment, and the shock hit her. Pokemon didn't come in singles; there was more than one of a kind. THIS WAS BIG NEWS. "We have to find him! What if he's lost?! Or hurt?!" They had to save him! "My..oh, my clothes? I took them. They fit and I took them."

Truffles frowned. "A clan? What? No! It's just me an' Aatami. We came from a breeder. I don't think we're the only eevees, either." What a weird woman... And then all the voiced concerns about her brother... That only made her more worried. "Yeah. I'll go look for him as soon as you show me the easy way to the berries."
The comment about the clothes made her ears perk. Oh, really? "I... got them from my breeder," she murmured, thinking back to the day she'd changed, and how she and Aatami had been given similar clothes. And then... they were alone. "I should go find Aatami. Let's hurry up."
