Al had checked the schedules and eventually determined Jordan's location to be patrol duty along a stretch of beach. It took some time but he was determined. Finding a flash of red was all he needed before he ran full throttle in the man's direction while wailing a strange giddy warcry.

Jordan's reaction was immediate; he spun on his heel and summoned Ferros immediately, dropping into a battle stance, his attention snapping onto the movement. He relaxed a moment later as he saw that it was just Al, and desummoned, shaking his head and laughing ruefully. "Dude, good way to get yourself smacked into next week," he said as Al got within earshot.

Al stalled back at the sight of Ferros. Resuming immediately as soon as he was gone again until he got close enough to pounce jordan and grab his arm, "Yeahhhh but you promised you'd show me how to make coffee today."

"I did," Jordan agreed, "and I will once I finish this stretch of patrol. Besides being accountable for it, it's pretty important for someone to be patrolling right now. You can walk with me if you want," he offered.

"Okay!" Al hummed with excitement. He might have started marching to his own beat, notably faster than Jordan was intending to. "How much further?"

Jordan kept to his pace, smiling a little. It was amazing how much Al reminded him of an overexcited puppy. "Along the southern beach there, and someone will be taking up the circuit when I get to the cliffs. Keep a sharp eye out. I heard there's been sightings in the water."

"Oh. I remember people saying... uh. Something about the water." But not much. He was distracted at the time after all. He slowed a bit before moving back to Jordan's side. Then trying to speed up again hopefully.

"Krakens," Jordan explained. "With the defenses down, they can get a lot closer to the beach. I don't think any have been seen close enough to get a tentacle on land, but they're getting bolder." He shrugged. "There's also the occasional hostile sealife of other types."

"Ewww tentacles," Al sniffed irritably when he realized Jordan was determined to keep his pace. His sloooow sloooooooooooow pace. Al frowwwwned at him.

"I have to agree with that assessment," Jordan said gravely. "In my opinion, the best type of tentacle is batter-fried." Calamari, specifically, the fresher the better. He'd never had any problems with weird food.
He pretended not to notice Al's jittering impatience. It was sort of entertaining, and he did want to complete his patrol properly.

Al started to... walk circles around jordan as he walked. Like a living elemental shield enchantment. "Yuck man, why would you eat a tentacle? Isn't that what they WANT you to do?"

Jordan snorted, his eyes dancing with amusement. "I don't think they expect you to chew and swallow. Well, maybe swallow," he amended, grinning.
