The sun in Sauti had just reached its highest point in the sky and the wind was blowing a small breeze across the terrain, creating a slightly cool summer's day in Mez. A messanger boy was jogging through the town, under instructions to deliver his cargo in as fast a time as he could muster. He turned his head back and forth, looking for the person he was seeking out. He saw the indigo hair from a distance and sped his run to catch up to the man.

"Hey! Here, this is for you!" The boy stuck out his arm and practically threw the piece of paper at Rastian. "It's important, I guess. Or at least it better be since I ran all the way here." He huffed and turned around, running back the way he had come without a second glance at Rastian. One thing was sure, he wanted to get home as fast as he could and he wasn't waiting around for any questions.

The note Rasitan now held was scribbled in a quick and somewhat sloppy hand, obviously rushed.

Rastian,

Meet me at the base to the northern Sauti mountains in one day's time. And don't be late.

Vescillea

It was an oddly cool day in Mez, something that made Rastian smile as he wandered about his daily chores. Usually he would be out wandering and delivering goods for others in some sort of heat and misery, but today was his day to "relax." Which, in turn, meant cleaning his clothes, taking a bath and actually not doing much else in terms of resting.

After coming back from his washing, he could hear the sound of hurried footsteps behind him, and turned to see if it happened to be Natsu or Ogbonna coming to chat with or annoy him, respectively, and was taken aback when a messenger boy came running up to him. What the hell could he want in such a hurry? He opened his mouth to tell the kid to slow down but instead had a piece of paper thrown at him. He blinked, cocked an eyebrow, and quickly furrowed them as the kid ran away.

"Yeah! You'd better run you... Paper throwing... Kid!" Insults don't come easy to Rastian when they're directed towards strangers. He sighed and grasped the paper in his hand, and mulled over the scribbled writing. Who the hell was Vescillea? Wasn't she like... Someone important? He shrugged his shoulders and nodded, as if replying to the note itself. Sure, he'd travel to the mountains if she wanted him to, this important person...

---

He had packed everything up and tied his bags on as usual before setting out on his journey. Thankfully it wasn't a terribly hot day or he'd be fuming as he walked along. It wasn't long until the peaks of the northern mountains came into view, he would be there within the day if he kept up his pace. Hopefully nothing would bother him along the way.

It was as if the spirits had been listening to the young boy's thoughts and had plotted many things to disrupt the young man's advance to the mountains. The day that was once cool had picked up heat from the sun and began to feel moist. The air was getting heavier as time went by and soon enough, even the insects could no longer be heard humming and chirping in the area.

In the distance, where the slopes of the mountains began a sharper incline, a large dark grey thunder head rumbled. Though it had not started to rain there it looked as if it was boiling and bubbling. The dark grey clouds rolling and gathering in size could only be described as immense, and low rumbling sounds of thunder wee so loud one would swear it was much closer than it actually was.

Ahead an old woman was hobbling her way forward, bent almost in half at the waist with a makeshift cane of sorts helping her plod on. She was muttering things, strange things...conversational things to no one but herself since she was obviously alone. The way she was walking betrayed a twisted foot; whether she had fallen recently or it was the result of an old injury it was hard to tell. But the thundering clouds seemed to loom ever closer and if shelter was not sought out soon all travelers trying to go up or near the mountain could be in trouble.

As soon as the heat began to pick up, Rastian quickly went to take off his heavy shirt along with his long pants. He had ducked into the forests for the quick change and emerged in clothes that he had obviously borrowed from Natsu. The orange shorts made Rastian's face turn sour, but it was far better than over heating. He trudged along rather steadily, despite the heaviness in the air, and didn't seem to pay much attention to the gathering thunder clouds. He didn't care for rain, but it never did much harm to him, why should he let it wear him down now?

Then, his eyes caught a glimpse of the old woman up ahead, and a he couldn't help but say. Poor old lady, hobbling about and mumbling, probably tore her hip or broke her muscle or whatever. He plodded along, glancing towards her every now and then, and found himself pausing to actually consider the weather and the situation at hand. Okay, old decrepit women don't do well in bad rain storms, they usually die if left alone. The moral thing thing to do is to help her get to where she needed to go and continue on your way... He took a breath and heaved it out before wandering up to the old woman.

"Are you alright ma'm?" He asked, smiling. "There's a great storm coming, do you need help getting somewhere before it hits?"

The woman didn't respond at first, but getting close one could see she was well on in years, perhaps...even past those years and beyond them. Wrinkles lined her sun beaten face, her fingers were calloused as well her feet; one would have to wonder how she was even able to see as her eyes were mere slits as she looked on ahead. She was of the wind tribe though her hair was silver and white it was the pink crystals on her body that betrayed her heritage.

"These ol' bones feel a storm a comin..big one dat for sure. These bones don't lie to missy no more. No sir , deh don't lie." She was muttering mostly to herself, shaking her head and clucking her tongue against her teeth (or what remained of them) as she stare at those thunder heads before them. Looking over it was as if she just registered that she was no longer walking alone.

"Why aren't you just a nice boy....helping old Missy 'ere in her time a need." A wrinkled hand came out to pat the young mans cheek, "Is that you Inuk? Where have you been all these years?" She demanded and it became quite apparent that this woman wasn't entirely all there.

Rastian's posture softened more as he looked her over, realizing that this woman wasn't as with it as he had thought she was. He sighed and smiled pleasantly towards her, even as she cupped his cheek and assumed he was someone else. Poor old lady, confused and disoriented, she needed his help before she really got hurt!

"Inuk? I'm afraid you've confused me with someone else, m'am." He assured, patting her on the shoulder. "My name is Rastian and I'm a healer in training." He paused, a little nervous about admitting that he wasn't exactly proficient at his chosen career yet. "Though I'm not exactly the best healer, I could help you if you'd like me too."

The old woman had to strain to look up at Rastian's face, her narrowed eyes seem to go even impossibly narrower as she looked him over. Apparently something he had said to her didn't quite make sense and now she was trying to figure out what. Taking her cane she lightly batted it against the males leg as if testing to make sure he wasn't some figment of her imagination.

"What was that Inuk? A healer? Why would you want to do dat for?" She demanded looking positively ruffled at the concept. "Thankless job dat! Runn'in around, people demandin 'elp." Giving a heavy sigh she paused in her rant if only due to a large rumbling boom in the distance. The storm was becoming aggressively closer now.

"We best get to some shelter Inuk before dat storm wipes out de path." Old wrinkly hands reached out to take a hold of Rastian's and though there was no real strength behind her tugging, her thin skeletal like fingers seemed to have an iron grip on him.

If Rastian's hands hadn't been upon the old woman's shoulder, they probably would have gone straight for his temples. The look upon this woman's face screamed 'I've lost my marbles in an abyss that I've created with my own imagination, could you find them for me?' and he wasn't certain if he wanted to deal with her much longer.

"Ma'm, my name is RASTIAN. I have not the faintest idea who Inuk is!" He protested, before he found himself being tugged away. Oh no, he had to meet some important woman at the base of that mountain! But, the old lady! She... He gazed upon her face again and sighed. Morality really sucked sometimes.

"Okay, shelter is a good idea." He sighed, gently pulling back as she tugged him in order to get her attention. "But before we wander off just anywhere, I would like to know your name."

The old woman was quite persistent about trying to pull Rastian along, as if standing still would only summon those thunder heads immediately above them. They were not making any real progress, her twisted foot slowing them down, but she was looking around as if trying to find something very specific to be their shelter from the storm.

"Your sister would be right mad with ya Inuk, bein so far from home..." The old woman lectured as they walked, completely ignoring, it seemed, that he had corrected her and informed her of his real identity.

"Can't tell me you've forgot yer gram mama Missy? I am disappointed in ya Inuk." She continued heading straight for the what looked like a strange wall of rock that didn't exactly look promising as a place for shelter. Starting again to click her tongue against her remaining teeth as she peered at the rock wall with scrutiny.

"What are you talking about?" Rastian blurted, his stress limit increasing. No, lady, you're freaking INSANE. You do not have your GRANDSON, you have a random stranger who is trying not to scream his lungs out right now! He wanted SO BAD to just TUG AWAY and RUN. But the clouds, MOTHER ******** CLOUDS! He gazed to the sky and sneered. Sauti, your weather is a volatile as a toddler!

"Missy, right. Okay." He grumbled, his gaze glazing over. Okay, she found a giant rock to hide behind? He shook his head, it would have to do for now.

"Okay, grandma..." He seethed, deciding that it was best to go along with her delusions. "Do you want to sit under that rock? We could wait out the storm there. Then, once it's over, I have a very important meeting with someone at the base of that mountain. I would really love to stay with you longer, but I can't keep my elder waiting too long."

Nodding her head she finally seemed content enough to release Rastian's hand, returning her bony fingers to grasp her make shift cane before hobbling towards the rock overhang. Hopefully the wind wouldn't pick up and make it rain sideways and ruin any chances of staying dry.

Lifting her head, she looked about as she neared and then proceeded to pick out a rather large rock sit upon. Perhaps it was the way she sat down, as if gravity finally won out against her that she seemed to fold almost in half. Smacking her lips she looked up to Rastian and then patted the space beside her; sure there was hardly any room for him, but what did that matter to family?

"You say you meetin someone? Did a pretty gurl finally catch yur eye Inuk?" Missy started looking at Rastian with such fondness it was hard to just ignore it. "Maybe it was a secret meetin? Oho ho ho I should tell yur mother, she'd have a fit I am sure."

At that moment a flash of light seemed to envelope the area, it lasted only a moment before a bellow of thunder came almost immediately afterwards. The heavens tore open...and there was such a downpour you could barely see two feet ahead of you.

He adjusted himself so he could sit somewhat comfortably beside the old woman and sighed. Still, she insisted on calling him by a name that was not his, what was wrong with her? Olive eyes dwindled over her form and eventually drifted back to her face, finding an odd sense of comfort within it. Maybe if he continued to play the part of someone he wasn't, she would feel better? He smiled and reached out to touch her shoulder.

"Oh no, not yet, I'm afraid." He chuckled. "I have been summoned by a very high elder in our village. I'm not certain for what or why just yet, grandmother, but I hope that it makes you proud to know that I've been found as important in the eyes of such an important person."

The lightning caused him to jump slightly, and he instinctively pressed himself closer to the elder woman out of fear. Once the rain started to pour down he relaxed and pressed himself against the rock. Still, he kept his eyes upon the old woman, feeling a growing empathy for her.

"I hope this storm passes soon, grandmother." He said, taking a breath. "Why don't you fill me in on all that I've missed while I've been gone? I must have quite a lot to catch up on."

The old woman hardly moved when the crash of lightning struck and was then quickly followed by a resounding boom of thunder. She gave Rastian a light pat on the thigh as if to tell him there was nothing to fear, acting as if she had done this a hundred times to the young man.

"Dun chu worry Inuk, the thunder is all dat is, like a Radaku which is all bark and no bite." Missy chuckled as if she found her analogy rather humorous. Storms like this one were the type though to be heavy but brief, and if they were lucky it wouldn't wash out the trail up the mountain.

"Oh you know how it is," Missy started as Rastian so kindly played the dutiful role of grandson for her, "I got tired of bein at home so I thought I'd go on an adventure!" The old crone of a woman hardly seemed as if she was fit enough to travel, never mind going on a prolonged adventure. "But ma foot start botherin me so I figured I best 'ead back." The old woman used her cane to tap against her twisted foot, and upon closer inspection it appeared an old injury as it wasn't swollen or red. Granted she never stated how long she had been gone, but given how she acted it hardly seemed logical that she could have left her home for longer than a day.

There was a pause, as if she had forgotten that they were having a conversation, when she suddenly lifted her arm and half turned, before pulling a satchel around that was on her side. Opening it with arthritis ridden fingers she managed to pull open the flap and then dig deep into the bag, quickly pulling out what appeared to be a dried piece of fruit. Giving a cackle as if she was proud of herself at how quickly she was able to get it, she thrust the food item towards Rastian. "You look like skin an bones Inuk, when we gets home Missy gonna make you something to eat." The smile she gave him was completely trusting, and it did seem like she would if she were able to drag him back to her home and feed him.

"But chu say you meeting a important person?" Missy began again, as if suddenly some of his words actually registered in her feeble brain, and that perhaps she should inquire into more depth about why 'Inuk' was going to meet such a person.

Rastian nodded along and listened carefully to Missy, as if his life depended on every word she was saying. He enjoyed how she spoke, it was rather strange and disjointed, but humorous at the same time. His eyes grew wide as he was offered a piece of dried fruit and shook his head in protest. No, he was fine, he didn't need anything to eat. However, he found himself wishing that he were able to accept the offer to have a meal with Missy at her home later on, even if he knew he couldn't. It was just something about her that kept him clinging on.

"Oh, yes, a woman named Vescillea has summoned me this morning to the base of that mountain." He explained, smiling kindly towards her. "A close companion of mine told me that she was the person who granted him the title of Rouge not too long ago, and it could very well be my chance at the same. I hope she won't mind me being late, grandmother, I'm supposed to meet her in a day's time."

Smacking her lips, the old crone nodded her head; her hand still offering said fruit as if she missed his polite decline. Mulling over something as she mouthed words without actually saying something...it turned out she was repeating the name he had told her as if it rang a bell. Retracting her hand finally she looked to the fruit a moment before looking over her shoulder to where the rain was finally starting to lessen in ferocity.

"Well look like you'll be late, but the storm 'as blown itself out at least." Came her comment slowly; did she realize how much of an inconvenience she had been to him? Slowing him down he probably could have been there by now if it wasn't for her ramblings.

"Oh Inuk, sometimes I wonder to ma'self...Missy why didn't you just settle down...have more kids...like you Inuk? Instead Missy wants to adventure..even in her old age...and people think me crraaazy." The old woman groaned as the fruit dropped from her hands as if it had been forgotten. Moving to stand she gripped her staff and let out a grunt with the effort to stand up straight. It only lasted a moment before she seemed to fold in half again.

"Better go then Inuk, else your lady friend will worry 'out cha." Then turning she headed out and towards the remnants of the downpour, now only a drizzle as the thunder heads began to dissipate in the sky above them.

In the distance, a figure was approaching them with a sense of haste. She seemed to be looking all around and when she spotted Missy coming out from the outcrop of rock she rushed forward.

"Missy! There you are, I've been looking for you everywhere!" Blonde hair bobbed and swayed as she rushed to the old woman's side; a bow and quiver strapped to her back indicated she at least had some skill in hunting. Gentle hands roamed over Missy's face as if she was making sure nothing bad had happened while she was gone.

"You know better than to wander off when a storm is coming." The blonde's stern voice stated it as if she had told this old woman the same lecture numerous times. It took her a moment however to register that Missy wasn't alone, blinking she straightened turning to look at the young man who had apparently sat out the storm with the old woman.

"My gratitude for looking after my 'grandmother', she is still full of spirit even at her age. I am Vescillea of the Wind Tribe."
