xoxo Gray lived an uneventful childhood as a nerdy, quiet, scrawny kid with few friends. Always the geek who had his nose stuck in a book, Gray never particularly felt attached to his home or family because he never felt as though he belonged with them or anywhere else. Struck with wanderlust in his late teens, he left home to go backpacking across Europe in some bizarre attempt to "find himself" or some such thing. He returned a few years later and, much to his parents' dismay, had taken up the fortune telling and stage magic as a way to scrape up cash while traveling. And picking pockets (occasionally)
Once he finally returned home, Gray's parents hardly recognized him. He had long since ditched his either of his birth names, and was going by "Gray." And on top of that, he'd grown half a foot and filled out quite a lot from the scrawny beanpole he'd been in his late teens. Gray loafed around for a year, not holding down any real jobs and just occasionally doing manual labor for cash but at his father's insistence that he get a real job, he finally began working at Disney World, of all places. But it was a proper job and didn't involve him stealing from people.
It was during an unfortunate accident during one of the shows that his right eye was injured by a panicked Ariel's sea shell bra, and he lost his eye. After that, Gray got a job working in a cheesy magic shop and entertaining children with sleight of hand tricks and small magic shows. It was during this time he took up his ostentatious fashion sense. Unfortunately, he found himself unhappy with his life and started traveling again. Somehow, he made his way to Nirvani and took up position at the circus, mostly doing the setting up and heavy lifting but after coming into some money, he decided to leave that job and settle in as the owner of the magic shop, where he also does fortune telling on the side. He doesn't know how long he'll stay but he seems to fit in amongst the slightly off kilter population of Nirvani better than he ever did anywhere else so he reckons he'll stay for quite some time.
