xxxAND SO... Hotaru grew up in Kumogakure as a young boy, his training at the academy was like the usual student, he wasn't any great prodigy and he wasn't any great slacker either. He was just a regular old bland shinobi. But he was a Aburame, living with 'friends' was a little difficult while growing up, he had to learn to control his flow of chakra to allow the bugs to feed properly. Hotaru's studies did start to slack a bit after graduating from the Ninja Academy. As a genin he was put into the normal three man squad, nothing really to stick out he kept to himself for the most part. During this time his family learned that he was more advanced than normal genin, he was showing signs that his chakra nature's leaned towards Raiton and Doton; but he was most proficient in Doton: Earth Release nature.
Hotaru also during this time met one of the most important people in his life. Takiko Yuu, She was the strong willed Kunoichi. Her prowess on the battlefield was tenacious and something to be seen; she was going to be someone in the Shinobi world when they were older. His feelings for her went unnoticed for the almost fatal accident of their team mate Kai. It was then that Hotaru's feeling went into a distracting whirl wind, he lost his focus of chakra and during that time the bugs ate away at his body's chakra and his eye's completely rendering him blind. After his own accident he came back to the team, having to learn to see through his bugs by chakra and vibrations he learned that Takiko had already advanced to Chunin with their old team mate Kai. Hotaru's training started to become more narrow, he began to quickly hone his skills and learn how to control the bugs to a greater level than that of his ancestors, or so it seemed. He caught up to Takiko and Kai, in what seemed a race to greatness.
During his years as a Chunin he began mission's that allowed him to command younger shinobi in smaller teams, this is where he felt that he excelled in his ninja arts. He slowly began to fade further away from Takiko, and it seemed that she had all but forgotten him as she finally made the announcement that Kai and her were getting engaged. Well that did it for him, he began to dedicate his days as a Chunin to his students teaching him harder than the normal chunin would. But during his final day's as a Chunin he had learned that Takiko had once more advanced before him, she was now a Jonin in Kumogakure. Hotaru was soon after promoted to Jonin his dedication to helping the younger ninja below him caused him to get the job of teacher, he was quickly assigned teams left and right. Teaching them the basic's of being a shinobi, his own style was harsh and someone unorthodox but it seemed to work. But during the days as Jonin Hotaru had failed to stop the assassination of the Raikage, and for that he felt grief. News of a new kage soon being appointed spread throughout Kumo and it was once again he was beat. Takiko, she was chosen over him. It seemed that no matter how hard he tried she was always one step ahead of him. Well seeing as how he'd failed the last Kage, he swore to himself that he wouldn't allow something like that to happen to the newest Kage. 。
