...Or wait a minute. No, that wasn't entirely true, was it? Xiu had an odd feeling that she had forgotten certain things, things that she had had no choice but to give up under the circumstances. But...what were they? She had offered up...a number of them, quite a few, in fact. The exact number eluded her, but she knew that she had given them up for their cause, hoping that they would help. And then...wasn't it promised that these memories would be returned to them eventually?
It was hard to think with all the whispers flitting back at forth in her mind. Squeezing her eyes shut, the ghoul lifting a hand to her head. Focus, focus--what were they trying to tell her? Something about saving something, about being a hero (the thought brought an amused smiled to her lips--a hero? Her? Nope~) and then....
And then there was a very clear whisper, one that came from an unidentifiable direction. Stiffening, she turned to survey her surroundings, eyes scanning intently only to find nothing. Who said that? When another whisper followed, her gaze swept over the area one more time before she before she stilled, lips pulling into a hesitant frown. It sounded like an innocent enough request, at least. Deciding to obey, turning her head and glancing down at her shadow. It seemed...normal? Nothing particularly out of sorts, at least. It was the same shadow she had always seen, simple and ordinary and--
And shifting. One minute, the shape on the ground was clearly hers, and in the next, it had solidified into a familiar armored figure with a sword. Lips parting in surprise, she stared at the figure with wide eyes, completely at a loss for words. Fortunately, he spoke in her place, finally answering some of the questions that she had been mulling over.
She seemed relieved when the figure spoke about her memories, her tensed shoulders sagging in relief. So she really would be getting them back, then?

Of course, it seemed like it wouldn't be that easy. The ghoul was alarmed when a lock suddenly manifested by her hip, a number of small thin chains keeping it in place like a belt. Instinctively, she lifted a hand in an attempt to pull it free, but unfortunately--and as expected--it didn't budge. Frowning, she strained to look down at it in an attempt to get a better look. It wasn't an extremely large lock--thank goodness for that--but she could see that there were certain symbols etched along the sides. On closer inspection, she realized that they were all different kinds of flowers, a dot of color in the center of each of them. A daisy for innocence, a petunia for anger--
--were these representations of the memories that she had locked away? So many of them, Xiu mused with a little grimace, shaking her head. She brushed her thumb over the etchings before shifting her fingers over to touch all the chains that were wound around the lock. Something told her that this would take a while to get rid of, but in the end, she was grateful for the chance to retrieve them at all. She wouldn't rest until she had each and every memory back in her head, where they belonged.
When she looked back up, she realized that her shadow had returned to normal, and that the whispers that had been plaguing her were suddenly gone as well. Shaking her head, she tapped the lock thoughtfully as she considered what to do next. Well, it wasn't as if she could recall what she had forgotten (obviously), so actively seeking them out wouldn't work. Perhaps it would be best if she just went through her usual, daily life and hoped that things would come back to her.
The idea of living a normal life again almost make the ghoul laugh, but she managed to stifle it. It was just...strange. She wasn't entirely sure how much time had passed yet, but it had felt like she spent months--years--in that other world. Her adventures as Ixyguin, and then her own once she regained her name and her memories--it was probably going to take her some time until she could relax and settle in again.
Take it slow! She encouraged herself cheerfully, clasping her hands behind her back as she began to make her way forward and towards the school gates, You'll get them all eventually! And so long as everyone else is okay...what more can you ask for, right?
Lips pulling up into a faint smile, the ghoul make a mental note to call her Uncle tonight and to check up on her friends, just to make sure everyone was okay. Besides that...
It was nice to be home.
