For ever since the beginning of Humankind, there has been a question bothering us to a point in which some people will
a.Commit suicide

b. Commit genocide

C.Start a war

d. Have an intelligent discussion on your own beliefs

Hopefully your one of the people who like D, so lets talk about it, debate about it and do everything nescessary to hear eachother out!

How do you think the Universe was created, and why do you believe it?
PostPosted: Sat Mar 11, 2006 7:46 pm

Tender. Okay um... I seen this topic a lot, and it's never black and white. It depends on who you are, if your Christian, Catholic, and all of that you would beleive that God created everything, but He has no beggining, which always confused me. I beleive that it was God (im Christian) who started everything, because that's all I really have, right? Until there is solid proof I won't beleive other wise.

Heres a thought for all those Scientific people who "claim' that a giant cloud of particles exploded creating the whole universe, its called the Big bang theory. But this isn't very.well..making sense, How did that big cloud of Particles get there in the first place eh?
PostPosted: Sat Mar 11, 2006 8:04 pm

Oh I misunderstood! I was thinking life as we know it, like the everything, not just universe. You do mae a good point, how did those particles ever begin to exist? I see right now how hard this is gonna be, because eventually we're gonna end up on the origins of everythng. So let's see, Philosophy or Science? Do you think there's a combination of both? Like a higher being set everything for us then just let things happen?

Nah man, I want everyone on this thread to give there belief of how the universe started, not just religous ones and scientific ones, but personal ones and other ones you've hear about. This is like a Creation theory thread.

The Discussion is about your core beliefs on the creation and meaning of life.
I should've clarified that, my mistake.

Now, there used to be this guy named H.P lovecraft who believed that before the universe was, there was big darkness full of strange almost aquatic creatures, they were Alien gods like Ctulhu and Yog sothoth. And it was them who controlled the universe and created in, simply for thier dark lawless ideals. But thier was an optimistic side, Since thier were Giant octopus alien gods controlling us, we should forget about trying to all solve lifes mysteries, and just enjoy life as its given. Ya know enjoy the simple things..

Thats one creation theory, not my own by all means, but an interesting one.

Yes, I beleive that's Scientology. Im probably wrong about the name, but whatever. Anyways, that could be true but I don't take it as seriously as the other religions. I guess that's my own fault, since it's weird to me since it's different. Most of the other religions are based on the world and the contents in them, and they all somehow seem to feed off each other eh? Like, there's the Muslim religion, which came after the Christian religion, and then there is the Jewish religion. All those religions share more in common then they don't have in common. I used to think that those religions were the same one but translated differently. Pretty weird?

Not wierd at all, who knows perhaps-god made a book of rules and sent it to Babel. But seriously what if. What if there was just one book, one tome on how all civilization can change to become more than just a bunch of savages, but that book has been interpreted differentlly by different cultures. Who knows perhaps that one book has created a load of other ones.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 11, 2006 8:41 pm

Alright, so let's say that there was a testement before others and somehow they were missinterpeted through out the years. Do you think anyone has ever come up with a theory like this? It might be great if it turns out me and you just started our own religion.

I've never heard of something like this. It is an interesting concept and seems to be found in fact. Like you said, All these relgions share similiarites and it seems that if they got them from somewhere, this sounds like a pretty good explanation.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 11, 2006 8:53 pm

There's one problem, and I have to say this: Where did those religions derive from? Was it like the story of God? He does not have a beggining or and end? If you compare that to what we're talking to, then Judism could be what the others derived from. Then there's the other option, there was something way before that could be simular to our religions but they were changed into what we have now. What's you opinion?

Ok Ok , all humanity were once more primative than the humans that came after them. The very first civilization was Egypt-right. So something came to the egyptians at one point which gave them the idea of Civilization, you see Religion is the ultimate good, because it is good, all religions have rules and rewards that keep human civilization from crumbling. So at some point in human history, some sort of already civlied being must have bestowed the knowledge of civilization upon us. Thats who god is. The writer of Civilization, and Gods words have been brought through so many different people that who knows how they woudl perceive them.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 11, 2006 9:10 pm

Well yeah, the world did exist without religion at a far point in time. I really don't think that religion has gotten that extreme though. If religion were to fail, then civilazition would crumble? Don't you think sometimes that our world would be better without civilazation? Look around you, there are so many examples that tempt us to this opinion. Wars in time? Al Queda (Sp)? Sometimes I feel if the whole world had no religion, or maybe shared one single religion, then we would be well off.

I'm saying that Religion became philosophy, Philosophy became Culture and Culture became us. Its the culture that shapes tomorrow, if one voice in culture is strong enough, whole governments can fall, and whole goeverments can be born. But humans still are individuals whose evolution has brought them to a point of reason, and somehow every single human knows right from wrong and how is that, because we are raised by three things, Our experiences, people, and culture. And if any of those pieces fall, the view becomes constricted, the choices become less. It is up to us all to give different messages, different religions, different ideas, to fuel the choices given to us, and taken by us. But at some point all humans were nothing both in thier heads and in thier actions, something gave us choice and that was god and religion.

There's a flipside to all of this you know? Some fools have taken religion beyond the point of reason. The religions I know of encourage life and tell you how to live your life, but is there any religion telling you to take lives? Extremists are taking religion and using it as a reason to kill people, and they think they'll be praised in the afterlife (if there is any) for it. The bad overshadows the good.

Like any part of life, whether material or philosophical. Anything can be used for either good or evil. Most people know what good is and most people know what bad is. I'm not saying the majoriy is always right, but its good to go to sleep knowing that most people are still human. Because when someone gives everything to one beleif, even to the point of killing innocent people. They are wrong.
