 Scorch had returned the battlefield again with his God's blessing. Well, mostly. The blessing also came with threats not to fall to the Cursed. He really didn't want Venezia mad at him again, but he still didn't want others to think carnies were weaklings. As he scanned the battlefield, he found... well, he wasn't quite sure what he'd found, but it reeked of cursed vibes and that was all it took for him to rush in and attempt to strike it from behind. HP: 20

HP: 24/25  Veldri was hoping to be the first to strike a follower, but she was so absorbed into her hunting she was caught off guard by what she was looking for. Whirling around with a snarl from under her mask, she slashes out with her clawed hand, more irritated than hurt from the attack. It took her a moment to realize it was one of her old fellow followers, and the snarl turned into a sheer delightful grin, "Well, well, well! If it isn't a little puppet of Venezias!" She purrs under her breath, tail tip twitching in glee.

Scorch frowned as his strike did nothing but anger the creature, he was barely able to move enough to make the claws flashing at him a minor wound on his shoulder. "I'm no puppet!" he yells, before trying to punch her (he now realizes, after hearing the voice) again, this time in the stomach. He still hasn't recognized her specifically, even though she has recognized him. HP: 18

She swings her feathered arm around to block the blow, knowing she'd probably have a small bruise later from it. With a laugh she lashes out again with her claws, "Oh quite the opposite, the fool of a god has you all blind. If it weren't for the Corrupter opening my eyes, I would have followed him still blindly!"

Scorch evades the claws, and frowns. "Still?" He tries to bring himself to look at the abomination more closely, even as he lashes out with a kick at her midsection, trying to gauge her movements. He's never fought anything like her before... HP: 17

HP: 18/25 Snarling from the kick after she catches her breath, she pushes herself up on her hands and whips her tail around with a grunt. "Yes, you idiot. I used to be one of you, a mindless dolt who followed a fool." She attempts to curl her tail around the other, aiming to squeeze him.

Scorch was taken aback by her words, and he almost lets himself be caught by the tail, only with a bit of wriggling did he avoid most of the squeeze. He liked to think he knew most of the carnies, even the ones he hadn't seen in forever. He stares at her a bit longer and it finally dawns on him as the colors and patterns of her finally register. ".........Veldri?" he asks, now suddenly hesitant to attack her, instead of a strike he just tries to push her away. HP: 15

HP: 16/25 "Yessss." She purrs softly at him, only moving slightly from the shove, She reaches out with her feathered arm to brush the side of his jaw almost lovingly, "You poor fool, still blindly following the so called gods. You must meet my new God. He has shown me the true light to these false gods and has given me new meanings to live and serve." The ex-carnie uses the hopeful distraction of being soft to use her tail to pull a him closer, aiming to dig her claws into his stomach should he cringe away.

"I...what happened to you?" Whether he'd never been told about the corrupted, or just wasn't paying attention, the thought that this thing in front of him used to be a Jester, one of Venezia's own special followers, surprised him. He is pulled closer before he registers what's going on, but then he does try to withdraw, and pays for it with claws ripping into his stomach. Grunting as blood starts pouring, he struggles to get away, pushing against her chest he lets his hand heat up, trying to use the gift Venezia gave him to burn her. HP: 12

"Venezia tried to bless me....but when the Corrupter stepped in and changed me instead, the fool of a carnival god banished me from his sight. He doesn't care about his followers and that's the truth. Why would he even let his precious carnies even return the the fight if he did?" She snarls as her claws bite into his flesh, only to have burning hands placed on her chest. She lets out a shriek of pain and jerks away, shoving him away and flinging him at the same time with her tail, the pain giving her an extra bit of umph! the the toss.

All this new information was awhirl in Scorch's mind. A blessing gone wrong? "Corrupter?" Was that one of those new Cursed gods he'd heard snippets about? He's flung aside violently, and grunts as he lands; he takes a moment to put a hand against his own wound, attempting to cauterize it. "I can't believe there is something that can be stronger than a God...and I won't believe my God doesn't care about us!" He narrows his eyes as his already hot hand lashes out and a fireball soars towards her. HP: 9

((Sorry, hubby woke up and well......yeah. x__x; )) HP: 10/25 Veldri hisses at him, flinching in pain as her hair brushes up against the burns. "Then explain what happened to me!!" She shrieks at him and barely manages to dodge the fireball, getting her feathered arm singed as she drags herself angrily, and quite fast, towards him, attempting to tackle him to the ground with a snarl, "Your god doesn't love you and he never will! Once something happens to you he'll turn his back on you too!!"

Scorch winced from her words. He started to reply, but had to dodge her sudden quick movements towards him, he's barely able to pivot out of the way of the tackle and tries to kick her in the rear to help turn her momentum against her. He swallows a few times, conflict showing in his eyes. "Maybe...your faith wasn't strong enough." But wouldn't the jesters, over anyone else, be the most faithful towards Venezia? He brushed that thought aside, and continued. "I almost fell to the cursed in the last war, you know...almost let myself be pulled astray... yes, my Lord was angry with me. But his anger...even his disappointment... showed his concern for me. I won't doubt him." HP: 8

HP: 6/25 Grunting from the kick to her rump she falters lightly, her voice choking as she lets out a cry, "Then why, why did he turn his back on me when I cried for his help at this form? Why!?" She quickly turns around, fury in her eyes now as she lunges for the other again, clawed hand reaching for him. "He was disappointed; scolded you when you failed and showed only anger, no compassion when you were hurt! At least the Corrupter has shown physical affection and tends to his own like they are his own children!" She snarls at him, blind to his doubtful words. Veldri knew that even if she was defeated, the doubt she'd placed in his heart would spurn the hate of the carnival god more.

"I don't know why, Veldri. But cursed... have never been able to be redeemed again... never brought back to the light. I thought it was possible once, but I was wrong. And I know Venezia knows more than I on the matter." He backs away from her furious lunge, but still feels the claws tear into his shoulder, he grunts in pain, that arm failing him, going limp, he balls up a fist and aims it straight at her face, not even caring if the mask would hurt his hand. "Letting me stay at the carnival was all the compassion I deserved for what I'd done. And don't try to tell me some Cursed monstrosity could possibly show more love than the true gods." HP: 5
