The warm glow was so inviting she couldn't help but follow it, walking forward until she realized she was actually following something almost tangible; a little wisp, leading her towards a path. The mist that surrounded her was nothing like the harsh fog she was used to, and it was a relief, really. Her journey ended at a particular tree, one that seemed to have something slumbering deep within.

All they wanted was to serve, and their only request was to have one last desire fulfilled.

That didn't seem so difficult, and really, how could she refuse such a seemingly simple task?

With a nod she continued on, finding a lake. Amrita wasn't sure that possessed her to stick her head into the water, but she did, and she was rewarded with a soft voice giving a soft direction. Water the children? Perhaps...the tree, again? There didn't seem to be any buckets nearby, though.

Her only option was to use her hands.

Rolling a 8: Your character plays This is Halloween, the greatest online MMO ever created. While in reality they may exist as their somewhat boring, ordinary selves (with jobs, or school, or whatnot), online they can be whatever they want. Part of the noble (but human) faction of Deus Ex as a Hunter, or the more neutral faction of Halloween, or even the feared Horsemen faction. PVPs, raids, and even some roleplayed events occur for your character to get loot. Basically, they are humans ICly playing their actual TiH incarnations, feel free to interpret as you please. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

Their meeting time was fast approaching, and she wasn't even at her computer yet. She barged into her apartment, only barely managing to at least lock the door behind her, and threw down her purse as she kicked off her shoes. She needed to get online. Had to get online! There was a very important meeting she had to attend to! Damnit work, didn't you understand she had gaming to do?!

Her red laptop was opened and logged onto quickly, all before she even had a chance to properly sit on her day bed.

Start Menu > This is Halloween.

She tabbed quickly through the log in info, and the moment she had control of her character - someone she had fashioned into a Patchwork, only because the mods amused her - she was running towards the spot in the Park that had the carriages, where a player named Otto from the Hunter Faction was supposed to be waiting for her.

He was already there, waiting in a carriage. She hopped in, and the background began to move; apparently, they were in motion now.

PatchworkCopy: Oh thank god, I made it on time!
PatchworkCopy: Sorry, I cut it a little close there.

She hit a few keys and her character moved as if scratching the back of her head sheepishly. This game was fun; it was even more fun now that she had met someone, and they were going on a little adventure on their own to find this creature that did...something. Honestly, she couldn't quite remember. It was just fun to play the suspect. Especially since she was playing on the side of Halloween.

PatchworkCopy: So...you wanted my help on a case?
PatchworkCopy: I can't promise I'll get you some answers, but I can promise to at least try.

Rolling a 7: Your character is a wizard that goes to Pigfarts, the most prestigious wizarding school of them all. It is their first year transferring into the school, and they are scared they will be sorted into Serpentarius, the rumoured "bad group" among the four sorted groups. You secretly hope you will either be part of the Pegasi (hard working, but not very intelligent), Leo (Brave and noble), or even the Capricorns (Intelligent). If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a student of Pigfarts. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

"My Calibur...? But I'm just a first year! I don't even know if I have calibur!" Amrita protested, wriggling in her seat uncomfortably. The train ride to Pigfarts was taking forever, and the second year student next to her was being a little too calm about the whole thing. "But what if you're wrong? What if I don't end up in the right house?" She fidgeted nervously, twisting a lock of dark, curly hair between her tanned hands.

"Wait, what you do mean, had a hand in it? Are you talking about that fight in car two? I didn't have anything to do with it!" She insisted loudly, bringing her knees up to her chest to curl into a little ball of nerves. "But I did hear from Mary Coralsberg - that farm girl from the States - that her friend's friend saw it first hand, and he just started jumping up and screaming, and then picked a fight out of the blue!" For a moment little Amrita looked curious, distracted from her thoughts of which house she would end up in, all because some seemingly docile third year started picking fights like a raging bull.

"I wonder what happened...Do you have any idea?"

Rolling a 6: Your character is a private eye detective, and this time, they have been hired on what is claimed to be an unsolvable case. You arrive there with only your handy notepad and your own, sharp eye. Something about the case seems odd, from the body, to the events happening, something paranormal. You feel like there is more to the story than what you've been given, but you can't place a finger on it, not quite yet. If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a detective, in Film Noir setting (in the 1930's). You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

"Since when was this ever a fight between us, Detective Graves?" Amrita Vetala laughed, rolling her hip to shift her weight from one foot to the other, her hand gracefully pushing her hair over her shoulder. The so-called Detective was overstepping his bounds again, and put all of her hard work at risk, and over what? A trail of evidence he imagined in his head? Laughable.

Her lidded grey gaze shifted, moving towards her crime scene and down towards the body that lay on the ground; it looked like a suicide, plain and simple; it even had a note nearby, bidding farewell to the world. The next-of-kin already identified the handwriting as that of the deceased, and yet, despite all the signs pointing towards a suicide, it couldn't have been. This was the fourth in a string of apparent suicides, and they had long come to agree that this was actually the work of a serial killer.

There were no physical leads, no finger prints or dna samples of any kind. The manner in which the bodies were found were suspicious, and long ago someone pointed fingers at the Paranormal. This one Detective though, who had a vendetta against her since the beginning, was the only one pointing his fingers at her. She imagined that it had something to do with the absurdity of a culprit that wasn't human; that just wasn't the world they lived in.

What was worse, his argument was convincing, condemning the brilliant Amrita. He was already getting a few others on his side, and now she had to watch her steps. No matter, she was well ahead of him; she had a few to spare.

"I think it's adorable the way you pin this on me, Detective. What did I ever do to you, to make you think I have ulterior motives?"

Choosing one roll down

Rolling a 5: Your character has been a minipet their entire life. They grew up in the Scarefari, where their parents told them to go to Minipet Battle School. Their hopes is to one day breed with a big, strong minipet and create beautiful children. However, on the way there are many adventures, including being bullied by stronger minipets in the Battle Arena, and nearly being sold to the Black Market, or taken to the Altar of Sacrifice. It's a cruel world in the minipet world, and not everyone is out to help them. If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a minipet, in the minipet setting (anywhere on the site is fair game for interpretation "icly"). You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

She was cornered. The Ottokoyo had cornered her, both literally and figuratively.

"I don't know what you're talking about." The glowing thing chittered through it's constant grin, still feigning innocence. "I'm just doing that all of us do: Survive, one way or another!" A twisted little paw knocked over a pebble before it flopped down onto it's tart-like bed, unceremoniously and grumpy. The minipet in front of her didn't seem to buy her act, and so she had to switch tactics. Nonchalantly she got back to all four paws, keening prettily and nuzzling against the fluff of the Kitsune's neck.

"A mini's gotta do what a mini's gotta do, or it's straight to the Blackmarket! Or worse...the Altar!" Her innocent act was dropped and she pushed forward, headbutting the Ottokoyo hard before scrambling away as fast as little paws could take her.

Already done 7...and 6...and 5...and 8...choosing 9!

Rolling a 9: Your character only knows about the Arena. They exist in the Arena, they fight in the Arena, they are slaves in the Arena. Every single day, they live, caged, watching countless faces also get roll in, and countless faces die. Every single day they wait for their 99th kill. They are on kill 98. Tomorrow will be kill 99. Tomorrow, they will face -

It is up to you how your character looks, and (optionally) what weapons they use as well as who they face. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

"Game over." This was her moment, and she knew it. It had all come down to the two of them. Amrita verses Otto. Both had 98 kills under their belt, and the winner of this match would get their lucky 99th...and their freedom. She deserved to be the victor. She had worked so hard, had snowed so many guards and opponents, killed so many seemingly on pure luck. It wasn't luck, it had all been calculated, carefully and methodically, the whole time. How anyone could still have counted her as innocent was beyond her.

Otto had been the only one to ever see through her rouse, and now it didn't matter. She had him on his knees, his weapon on the other side of the arena and his arms too damaged to do more than hand limply at his sides. Amrita raised her hatchet, letting the bloody blade gleam in the harsh glare of the sun, and allowed him, her 99th kill, the privilege of seeing a real smile, twisted and vicious.

This victory was hers.

And as the blade connected with his skull, it was sweet.

The more she fed it, the more it grew, and before long she had a beautiful little tree, becoming healthy and strong.

Not quite, the voice whispered, and she agreed. While the sapling was growing strong and healthy, it still wasn't complete yet. There was still something missing from it, and as she searched for the very thing to make it perfect, she came across what should have been the lake. In its place were several little pools, and the voice whispered to her again. One handful of water from each of these pools, huh?

Hmm.

She inspected them all, looking for the one that was perfect for her little tree, and when she found it she brought a handful of cold, resentful water back to her precious little sapling.

"Are you satisfied with what I have become?" It asked.

"Yes." She replied, without a second thought.

A memory flooded back to her, of her taking care of her fish, all nine hundred of them. Nurturing them, caring for them, collecting them for no reason. She lost a few but gained others, as life went..
