The choice of doors was hard. She wanted to go through the one with the nice smells, but she convinced herself it was probably a trap. That or it was the best thing ever-
No. It was a trap. She told herself that.
Instead she threw herself towards the creepiest door, where a child was crying. Clearly she was crying out of joy. Yes.
What she found was a mirror. She touched her hand to the glass, and out popped a little version of herself. Light blonde hair that hung in curls around her head. It was smiling, but crying. Something was wrong. That was her. She was not supposed to be out of the mirror.
It needed to die, that much was for certain. She didn't care if she was hitting a child. This one was spouting about her insecurities, her faults.
She couldn't catch up to Chris.
She couldn't reach the top shelf.
She'd never beat that level in Super Mario Sunshine.
She'd lost her virginity on-

Chel approached the girl with caution, worried that something worst might erupt out of the tiny cocoon. When it was clear the girl was nearly lifeless, Chelsea took the blade and twisted, causing the creature (whatever it had been) to disappear and fade into nothingness.
The part that stung the most was knowing that her younger self was disappointed in her. It felt wrong to take the remains of a small child, yet she had to. Within the chest cavity of the child sat a set of black claws, and a small red key. It was her victory token.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, then turned to go back to the original room.

Feng dove into the water immediately, ready to get this over with and get the key. Unfortunately, as he dove in he also opened his mouth and took a giant gulp of foul-tasting gold water. He choked and flailed.

As he finally righted himself and began to swim, something bit him, hard. He cried out and bled into the golden water, which in turn stung as it got into his wound.
This was awful.

He obviously hadn't stretched enough before swimming because he got a horrible cramp that made it difficult to swim and he was only able to do a single length until it was gone.

He lose one of his boots and it created less drag, and he was able to swim faster.

Soon after the first boot, the second boot followed. Without his shoes swimming was a breeze.

That didn't mean he didn't get cramps though. Pain shot through his butt cheek and he barely hobbled through another length.

He turned his face to breathe as he swam but he didn't quite turn it enough and took in a lungful of water.

Just when he got his breathing back under control something came up behind him and chomped on him hard. He cried out, and tried to get away, but there was no way he could keep swimming like this.

Ami decided that the room with the nice smells was the one she was going to pick. It might have been a trap, but she liked the way it smelled. IT smelled like ...
French onion soup.
A singular bowl of the cheesy dish sat on the table, tiny piece of fudge seated next to it on a lacy plate. A tiny cup of tea was next to the ensemble, completing her favorite meal.
There was a moment of glee in Ami's eyes, but it faded quickly. How had the gargoyles known her favorite food? Was it even made by the gargoyles?
She sighed and sat down to eat. The food was delicious of course- her mind filled with the streets of Paris, the alleys of New York, the table in her kitchen at Deus. It was perfect.
When she came out, the gargoyle handed her a mint and the key. That hadn't been difficult at all. Actually it was kind of pleasant.
