They called to her.

Riyo couldn't be sure who 'they' were, or what they wanted, all she knew is that, for some strange reason, the cat ghoul felt like she could trust them.

It was like some kind of ethereal dream, walking through the calm fog. It was the first time in a long time that she could remember not being intimidated by the translucent blanket that hung over the world, and for that, she was grateful.

But the trees. Why were they so barren? She peered around her, but did not stop following her guide orbs, until they set her upon a tree. A large, silver tree. It's words would have startled her, had it not been so peaceful. Sure, talking trees. Why not.

The tree's words resonated with Riyo, her brow knitting together as her heart practically reached out of her chest towards the grief tree. "I will... Help you."

Riyo could not help but be in awe of the beautiful lake that she had come upon. The swishing and swaying of orbs on the water's surface gave the illusion of glowing fish swimming close to the top.

But... What was that noise?

With caution, Riyo sat next to the lake and dunked her head in.

"Heal my children,"

Perhaps even without the 'immeasurable' reward, the demoness would've completed the task anyways. There was something important about being entrusted with such a dire task. The task to nurture. It could've been the simple fact that it was a new feeling, being asked to do so. She couldn't say for certain, but there was no question if she was going to do it.

Her cupped hands gathered as much water as they could possibly carry, her tail swaying this way and that for balance. When she reached the old tree, the girl tried her best to get every last drop onto the roots.

And with a large shiver, it withered, leaving only a new beginning in it's wake.

Perhaps she shouldn't be thanked yet.

Rolling a 7: Your character is a wizard that goes to Pigfarts, the most prestigious wizarding school of them all. It is their first year transferring into the school, and they are scared they will be sorted into Serpentarius, the rumoured "bad group" among the four sorted groups. You secretly hope you will either be part of the Pegasi (hard working, but not very intelligent), Leo (Brave and noble), or even the Capricorns (Intelligent). If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a student of Pigfarts. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

Riyo knew she couldn't possibly be Serpentarius.

Why, she was too smart for that. The group was beneath her. She may have seemed rough around the edges, but really she was just terrified of disappointing people Riyo Felis didn't know how to make friends, she just knew how to windgardium leviosa and all that other bullshit.

At least she had her familiar though. Felix the cat always watched out for her. "Riyo Felis!" Areldore called, coaxing her forward towards the sorting hat. Time already? She hadn't even gone through her long-winded backstory!

The hat barely needed to touch her head before "Capricorn!" Resounded. As if there had been any doubt. Psch, really.

Okay no she had been scared for a second.

Rolling a 10: All characters in this world have the special ability that when they hit a certain age, they can summon a creature form of themselves. The most powerful are the zodiac creatures, the twelve animals that govern the zodiac (starting with Rat --> Pig), the least powerful are the lesser creatures that govern them, such as pidgeons, etc. When doing this prompt, look at all the minor achievements your character has collected. If you have less than 10, write for a less powerful one, if you have less than 20 write for an average one, if you have more than 21 write for a greater zodiac creature. How do they bond/ what is their role in this world/ how do they communicate with each other is entirely up to you. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

Another dull day at school, another reason to come home and mope. She was... Familiarless, unlike most of the school. Hell, even the freshmen were getting their creature forms before she was. A pigeon, a mouse, really... Anything would do. The very lack of her own special animal companion left her at the very bottom of the totem pole, and Riyo wouldn't have even cared if she ended up one step higher with the vermin lovers. She just... Hated being segregated like this.

"Honey, it's dinner time." Her father called cheerfully. Of course he was cheerful. He had a cat by his side at all times. A cat he could talk with, share secrets with, bond with. She loved old Binks, but it wasn't like she could speak to him as her father did.

Grabbing her pillow to scream into, Riyo was suddenly confronted by... Something of epic proportions.

Under her soft cotton headrest was... A... A baby tiger?!

The animal looked up at her hopefully, but all she could do was scream... And scream... And scream, until finally her father busted through the door.

"SWEETIE, WHAT- Oh... Oh! Ohhhh." The man stood in the doorway, pink apron outshining anything in his daughter's room.

"Well, congratulations! I told you the wait would pay off. You've got a very special familiar." The man gestured towards the white Bengal tiger with a proud smile.

When Riyo finally realized what was going on, her screams of terror turned into screams of joy, and she scooped up the little monster... Who scratched her on the face at being greeted so roughly. "You're not vewy nice mastew." The cub pouted, its ears rotating downward. It's mouth did not move, but the girl could hear the voice so clearly...

"Careful now, Riyo... If a familiar falls down the wrong path, it's master is sure to follow."

Rolling a 4: Your character exists in a part of the wild west, where law is no longer on their side. They must obey the Sheriff, and that is their only singular rule in these parts of town. Their town is often attacked by the unrulies, neighbouring crude towns that reside to no laws. It is up to you to keep your own town afloat, and remember what it means to be a cowboy. If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a cowboy, or something that exists in the wild west setting. They called her Miss Kitty. By day, she was the best sarsaparilla bartender in the nearest three towns with her swanky suit and fast pass... But by night, she was the vengeance seeking vigilante they called Tiger Eyes. Unmerciful, yet compassionate to the underdog (ironically). She knew what it was like to be under the thumb of power-hungry tyrants like the sheriff, and by tucking her identity behind a red bandana and cowboy hat, she did what she could to clean up their one horse town on her trusty steed Felix. Yeehaw!

It had been a slow day at The Cranky Cat. Not much to do besides watch the real ladies dance and clean out the cups with a nice spit shine.

That was, until they walked in. Deacon the Demon and Lou the Lecherous. The two were notorious for what they did to women the next town over, and Miss Kitty had been waiting for the two to rear their ugly heads and harass the women in her town.

What they didn't know is that come tonight, when they're knocked out from the drugs she put in the drink they'll undoubtedly order, Tiger Eyes would show all the crooks and criminals that dared to stop by just who meant business.

Also she'd made a cattle brand for just such an occasion. Oh how she'd always wanted a chance to stamp 'douchebag' on some outlaw's a**.

Rolling at 3: Your character exists in a world where Halloween does not exist. They are Human and they go to a Human high school. They are part of a swimming club, and they are currently about to face a great competition. They know their rival swim team is trying to race against them but they must win the gold medal, for their team! All else you can interpret as you please, including roles and canon. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.

The time was nigh. Riyo had prepared her skimpiest bathing suit for a more aerodynamic swim (it's not like she had boobs to weigh her down so whatever). The competition was fierce. Hot and fierce.

Deep down, the girl knew that the only way she could win... Would be to get in more gratuitous muscle and a** shots than their rival high school's swim team.

"My body is ready." She whispered as she prepared to dive in for one last practice. Freeze on a** shot for 30 minutes before proceeding, because the rest of this is just going to be boring, over dramatic arm strokes.

(I have not watched this anime. This is just what I get from everyone else)

Rolling a 6: Your character is a private eye detective, and this time, they have been hired on what is claimed to be an unsolvable case. You arrive there with only your handy notepad and your own, sharp eye. Something about the case seems odd, from the body, to the events happening, something paranormal. You feel like there is more to the story than what you've been given, but you can't place a finger on it, not quite yet. If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a detective, in Film Noir setting (in the 1930's). "Help me, private Riyo. You're my only hope."

His doe eyes and overzealous demeanor were hiding something. I just knew it, but knowing was half my battle. I'd earned my title as a prestigious private eye among the many gumshoe that hung around this city. I'd done my time as the underdog. Now I just needed to figure out what he was hiding.

"Don't worry your handsome little face, sweetheart. I'll get to the bottom of this."

"I know something you can get to the bottom of." The monochrome man immediately smacked his mouth shut, as if it had gotten away from him temporarily.

"... I'm sure you'll be able to show yourself out."

When I got to the scene of the crime, the coppers shot me dirty looks as I encroached on their turf. Poor thing. Pretty little girl. Couldn't have been older than 17... and it looked like she'd been annoyed to death. But how, how was that possible? No visible wounds... Wait. There was a bandage. And under the bandage... Teeth marks!

"Officer Felix, you've got to come see this." Felix was the only cop I could trust. Always true to his word, though he had a disturbing love for seafood.

Felix, smiling that smug smile as always, shook his head in disbelief. "You've pinpointed another thing that we failed to see, private Riyo. Red Lobster?"

"What, at a time like this?!" I shouted at him. "... Well okay. Those cheddar biscuits are to die for."

Riyo dove as deep as she possibly could to gather up as many memories she thought the tree would need to grow, each more bizarre than the last. Perhaps... The obscure humor would help the sapling grow faster? She certainly hoped so.

Five. She'd managed to gather five before she stumbled back towards the baby tree, dumping them onto the slowly growing vessel. Finally! It was starting to take form!

"You're doing great." She tried to encourage it, delighting in the fact that the little thing had managed to give her something back.

"Not quite."

Though it had become a tree, it was still not full. The poor thing needed more reinforcement, and so Riyo did the only thing she knew to do at this point.

head towards the lake.

"I'll be back."

But... Was this?

No longer the lake, but a castle. No longer one great pool of water, but many tiny ones. Riyo practically bit her nails over which one to choose before finally dipping her hands into the light pool.

She was tired of focusing on nothing but sadness and regret. the gentle memories, though few, poured over the tree. Memories of laying in her bed and reading a good book. Memories of brushing out her cats fur. Memories of spending lazy days with her friends at coffee stores, or in libraries.

As they shrouded the tree, her eyes sparkled as she watched it grow for a final time.

"Are you satisfied with what I have become?"

Riyo took a seat next to the tree, resting her back against it's now sturdy frame. "So very satisfied." She whispered, and curled up to take a nap.

As Riyo napped next to her tree, she recalled not just Felix, but all the lives she had nurtured over the years. Each cat had it's own individual name and personality. It's own way of showing her affection when she did something right, and scolding when she did something wrong. She cared for all of them, even those who were missing eyes or limbs. It was because they had been there when she needed something to care for, and while inanimate objects would receive, they could never give affection like her cats.

And in that way, they had taken care of her, too. Because without them... She would have never made it as far as she did.
