These new places where they had woken up were very interesting, Maple noted. Different than the ones they had parted with, for one thing she had yet to encounter some deadly creature while exploring. Well, until now.
Because she found herself in the midst of a very angry looking woman. Who screamed at her. The ghoul tensed up, wanting to back away. They still had to fight things. Happening upon the scene Ceres narrowed her eyes. There was a monster, screeching, at the poor person. Poor thing looked terrified. Pulling out the guns she wasted no time, shooting at the monster. "I'm n-not very g-good at this", Maple told the other girl (very thankful for her arrival) in a very timid manner and a half sort of smile. Her grip tightened a bit on her lance and she attempted to take another swing.

"I don't think any of us are really, you're not doing too shabby." Ceres oddly felt as if her body was used to this sort of thing. She moved easily in the fight, narrowing her eyes at the enemy. She fired, almost missing herself. Maple had to wonder for a moment if that was true, "I've s-seen s-some others w-who f-fight like its s-so n-natural," she replied with a slight blush from the encouraging words that had followed the other girl's statement. "Th-they f-fight so w-well." Unlike her, though she at least felt a little more... at home, so to speak, with a pole arm type weapon than the gun she had been using at one point.
Maybe it was her frustration finally getting to her, because the next swing she took left a pretty good sized dent with a nice big whacking sound. "O-oh!"

"Maybe some of them have training towards some sort of weapon." A pause, a thought. "Maybe they are just damn lucky.Its possible, I've seen some horrible fighters here though. Some that cant even hit and instead face-plant in the earth." Truth be told, she felt more at home holding her earlier blades than the pair of guns too. They felt odd in her hands, heavy even. Her fingers were growing tired from pulling the trigger. "Nice hit!" She called, seeing the blow the other made. See? Sometimes its just a little luck or even encouragement. She too also pulled the triggers again, grazing once more. She sucked at this ranged hitting thing, damn. All this banshee screeching was a no-no! Thus did Mort hobble in with his simple pair of weapons to land a hand. Or a few slices to try and keep it quiet.
"You get better with practice," he added, trying to insert himself into the conversation because that was totally friendly. Right? "Although I'll admit I've faceplanted a few times. Also had a treasure chest try to eat me. Who knew!"

Alecto tried to cover her ears when she heard something scream. "Owow!" she whined. But rather than walk away, she walked toward the source and found a group fighting a banshee. "Oh, a fightfight!" Maple found herself smiling, albeit it was small but amused with how she - now two - were going on about face planting and their battle history. "I th-think I've f-face p-planted and t-tripped m-more times th-than I've h-hit things," she told them with an actual little laugh.
"Tr-treasure chest... t-trying t-to eat you?" She hadn't encountered anything like that before. Then again, this was her first new creature.
Just in time, the ghoul managed to noticed the other girl before it was too late. She squeaked loudly as she held her lance in her hands, trying to bypass her with a little spin. The momentum kept her going and she swung the blade, delivering the final blow.

"I'll t-try to remember th-that.." Maple smiled at Mort, it was nice to be encouraged really. And it didn't help to land the final blow on something to at least feel a little better about yourself. The ghoul smiled and picked up her loot. Finally, something she needed.
She also gave the other girl who appeared a little nod, and a little stare. Familiar...
