Obsidian found herself racing swiftly through the shadow-cloaked trees of the woods. The moon was concealed in a sable haze, preventing but a few beams of light from being cast on the wretched land. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she glided across the shrub-infested ground. It didn't matter where she was going, no, she was simply enjoying the ebony night as she searched for a place to call home.

But her blood ran cold as she suddenly sensed the presence of another. The aura was dark, and led her to believe that a cursed was on her trail. Skidding to a halt, she scanned the area with her ink-like eyes. Baring her razor-sharp teeth, she snarled to the murky shadows. "What sorry soul goes there? If you plan on attacking, I suggest you flee now. Show yourself, fiend, if you have a shred of courage." Obsidian felt her body tense, and moved her stance to better guard herself. Something evil was out there, but she was determined to stand her ground, and find the naive creature who dared cross her path.

User Image Belsam had no home. Had no territory. Had no ties. He wandered where ever he wanted. He slept where he wished. It was a good and free life for the cursed centaur. Though the war raged on, Belsam wasn't in the mood to pummel anyone right now. He had not gotten his fill. Oh no. Not by far! However, the Cursed male found himself gnawed upon by a bit of wanderlust. Or maybe it was just the ever irritating need to distance himself from Riorden and his obscenely off key singing.

Belsam had come upon a delightful ring of tree's growing up between the cracked stones of what had once been a very large boulder. Within their center was a clearing of grass just big enough for two or three centaurs. With a high stone wall surrounding two thirds of the clearing. Stunted tree's with exposed roots burrowed their way into the deep cracks of the stones. The final third section had been merely covered by thorny bushes, which Belsam had taken delight in stomping and trampling a path through. The thorns had scratched at his legs and flanks, leaving pleasantly stinging wounds that scabbed over quickly. He had been pondering dragging some of the surprisingly fragrant thorn branches into the clearing to make a bedding for himself to lay upon when he'd caught the measured thumps of a four legged creature at a run. Belsam had slowly picked his way through some bushes to peer about for the source of the sound.

Obsidian's voice reached him before he caught sight of her. With a tilt of his horned head, he lightly hopped over a small fallen tree. As he lifted his head, a smirk was already plastered on his face. "Well now. Check you out." He commented while raking his eyes over the finned back of the female centaur. "Watch who your calling a sorry soul, little filly. My soul is never sorry for anything it does." He warned Obsidian as he snapped his tail to accent his words final point.

User ImageThe deep voice of the cursed centaur tickled her ears, she wasn't truly expecting the creature to show itself. Her fur bristled as his words sliced into her. But as she turned her head to face the strong voice, she noticed that the cursed was a centaur like herself. "Hmmm. No. I see now that you are no sorry soul. You are no coward. But in no way does that mean you are no threat to me. State your intentions, and we'll see who will be sorry." She stared fiercly at the cursed, but her expression also held intrigued. As much as she'd hate to admit, he looked rather dashing. And she had taken quite a liking to his attitude. He got what he wanted, and didn't care what he had to say to get it. He seemed to be like her in more ways than one.

She stood inert in the hazy light of the crescent moon, and smiled darkly at the mysterious centaur. The woods were stunning, but were no match for his dark and handsome features. Nevertheless, if he intended to challenge her, a fight he would get. She could never doubt anything at a time of war.

Deciding that he was worth investigation, she began to stride cautiously toward him. She kept her guard up, unwilling to display any form of weakness. But he was interesting, and she wished to know more about the lone centaur immersed in sable shadows.

Belsam took slow and precise steps with his little red hooves. he never glanced downwards, as his single eye remained fixed on Obsidian. He may have been a centaur, but his movements mimicked those of a predator. The pointed tip of his tail curled upwards over his back in the manner one might see with a scorpions tail. "Threat?" Belsam calmly repeated Obsidian's choice of words. "Filly. I'm a threat to everything and every one. When I say I'm not a threat, you can be sure I'm lying." The male lifted his head and gave his head a slight shake, causing his read hair to sweep back over his ears while his horns raked through some low hanging branches.

Belsam reserved making any opinions of the female beyond the initial physical ones. She was interesting. With her fin, and tail, and lack of eyes. She had nice colors to her as well. The silver hair reflected the moonlight nicely from the angle Belsam was standing. "My intentions.." he drawled slowly. Belsam ran his fingers over the front of his jacket where it was parted. "Well that would depend. If your one of those weak ones who have taken up with one of those Gods...then I'd have to say my intentions will be to pull your legs off at the joins, bury the parts in random parts of the forest, and see how long it takes you to find each one." Belsam's lips pulled back into a widening grin that exposed the sharpened points of his teeth. "Are you?"

Obsidian was facinated by him. He seemed to be a hunter by nature, and was just as fierce as he was interesting. Her stitched mouth stretched up into a cocky smile, her forked tongue flicking in and out. His sarcasm and arrogance matched her own. But at the mere mention of the worthless gods, a feral growl left her lips, and she shook her head. "Those disgraces of whom soil the title of a god... I am absolutely revolted by their ways and ideals. I see nothing but ignorance and pure cowardice in every last god and each of their pawns. They will pay. And I will laugh at each and every one of them as they fall. I would never stoop so low as to worship these overrated piles of junk. I'm assuming you feel the same?" Her tail swished, and she kept herself at a safe distance from Belsam. "You surely are a threat, but that doesn't mean I will hold fear of your name or presence. Surely you are not so naive to think I couldn't fight for myself." Setting her ebony eyes on him, she twisted her mouth into a sadistic grin. She could not bring herself to guess his reaction, so she simply waited in the clutches of the obsidian night for a reply.

The the chill of the night's frigid air swept over Obsidian, but she paid no mind. The clouds and haze obscured the moon from sight now, and the world had been plunged into pure darkness. But with her eyes having been rotted by shadows, she could see fine. And her eyes were locked on Belsam. The way he carried himself, he was poised and elegant, yet ready to attack. Her tongue darted out once more, helping her further take in her surroundings. It was just him, her, and the pitch blackness.

Carefully Belsam took a few more approaching steps towards Obsidian. In the darkness she appeared to blend almost perfectly into the shadows under the trees. Were it not for her white hair and accents she'd be indistinguishable from the shades around her. "Naivety was never a trait I've had." He shared with a slowly growing expression of smugness. His head tilted to one side, and he nodded his horns back the way he had come. "It's gettin a bit nippy out here, how about you come back here with me. I got a nice little cozy nitch and we can talk a bit more. What is it about the Gods that convinced you that they were the weak pathetic wastes that they are?" His single eye glinted as he watched the females lips for another hint of that strange tongue of hers.

(>.<' I am sorry. My post has taken so long and it's not that great.)

Obsidian snickered at his comment on naivety, refraining from saying anything more. But as he offered her shelter and a good chat, she was skeptical of whether to accept his offer or not. After a brief moment of consideration, Obsidian nodded, and began to follow the mysterious centaur deeper into the lush forest.

His question of the gods piqued her interest, and she found herself wanting to hear his own reply to the question. "Just the way they go about things. Their stature and nature speaks volumes on how conceited they are. And this war? Hah! It's all a charade for them to watch and bicker over like children. I would rather be slaughtered by you than ever consider being one of their servants." Her black forked tongue flickered between her stitched lips, and she could see a small hint of fascination in his eyes. Keeping her gaze locked ahead, she returned the question. "And what about you? What do you hold against the gods?" She hid her caution well, and made sure she could always escape. But this male was interesting, so she would be sure to stick around a little longer.

(No! It's fine!! In fact, I love your post! Mine is... Lacking. If I should redo it, please let me know. Thanks!!)

Belsam had a touch of a grin upon his lips as he followed Obsidian through the narrow parting he had forced in the thorn bushes. The clearing he had tramped down was only a few body lengths within, so her answer would be given by the time they reached the center. Belsam lightly pawed at some of the broken thorn branches as he considered his own response. "Gods ain't the only things conceited. They just have enough power to fulfill their childish whims." He stated before choosing a spot to lower himself down upon. Belsam lowered his eyes to the ground, and with a malicious intent he stabbed his sharp tail tip at a scurrying bug. "The way I see it. Anyone can become a God, with the right amount of power." Belsam lifted his gaze and fixed it on Obsidian. "What I resent is their purpose. Haven't you noticed how each God oversee's some aspect of the world? They bring a sense of order and control." Casually Belsam lifted his tail tip up, and he inspected the death struggles of the insect speared by the tip. "I live on the chaos of the world. The disorder and mayhem. Give me madness and strife and unchecked depths of depravity that can come only when one is truly free."

A sadistic grin plastered itself to Obsidian's face as his reply reached her ears. Resting herself on the ground, she turned to meet his gaze before shooting her own reply."Yes... But have you noticed that none of their domains are as immaculate as they say they are? I, for one, have picked up the traces of corruption budding within them. So I do believe that they will fall one day, and havoc will reign like it should." Obsidian's forked tongue flicked between her sewn lips, and she moved a silvery lock out of her eyes so she may continue to stare at the handsome centaur. "Well then, as long as they don't get their petty hands on these ebony grounds. If that day ever comes, I will be on a mission to slaughter them all. And I wouldn't care who stands in my way. One day, they will all fall, and I swear on my being that I will be part of what knocks them to the ground." Chuckling to herself, she turned her gaze from him to the haze-cloaked moon. But the beauty that the darkness had created in the sky was no match for the dashing centaur next to her. And he was a badass for sure. Obsidian didn't believe in perfection, but had to admit that he would have come close. Exhaling deeply, she turned to face him once more. "So, shadow-dweller, what be your name? I have not come across another of our kind within these trees. You would be the first, and I am finding myself glad to have met someone who has very similar views as mine. Who are you?" The sable centaur gazed at him with intrigue, wondering if he would disclose such information. She knew that she, herself, would not be so quick to answer her own question had it been asked. Though, for once, she found herself considering to trust this stranger, unable to parse what led her to do so.

[I am SO SORRY for making you wait that long. A lot has been on my mind, and the time ended up slipping from my grasp. Thank you for understanding.]
