For Professors

If you are planning on making a Professor profile make sure to read the following to make sure you are ready for the responsibility of being a professor.

What Being a Professor Entails

Professors are responsible for an entire subject so say you want to teach Herbology you will be responsible for each Herbology class. However if there is someone else who would also like to teach the same subject the Professors can than coordinate on what classes they would like to teach and split the burden but it has to be mutual. Thus if whoever is the professor of a subject already can decide they want to teach all the classes of that subject in which case the new professor will have to pick another subject.
(If this become a problem contact a Guild Captain and if we have professors for every subject already and get a new professor whatever subject they choose the other professor will have to give up at least 2 classes unless the new professor wants to teach more than one subject.)

If a professor wishes to teach 2 separate subjects they can do so but there has to already be a professor for the two subject they wish to teach. For example if someone wishes to teach Herbology and Flying there has to be a main professor for both Herbology and Flying. Of course the new professor will have to talk to both of the other professors for those subjects and ask them is they can take over however many classes. (Can only take a total of 4, so 3 from one and 1 from the other or 2 from one and 2 from the other, you can also take less than 4 but no more than 4) (Once again if there is a problem contact a Guild Captain and if all the subjects are already taken you must let the new professor have however many class)

Professors can teach up to 4 different subjects however if they do so they can only teach 1 class of each subject and they much not interfere with each other.

Giving a lesson on whatever subject your teaching for the appropriate years. There will be 2 Lessons (one for each year) for every class unless you are teaching a 7th Years class or a Special Electives class.

At the beginning of each class you must say what you will be teaching that day for each year present in your class. For a student to complete a lesson they must be active in the class when it is happening and attend 70% of the lesson. A full lesson can last as long as necessary for you (the professor) to teach it this is due to the cap of each class Lecture being only 5 pages long.

For those who can't remember or aren't sure how to get a number of classes they had to attend here is a formula. (Number of classes it took to teach a lesson X .7= Number of classes had to attend in order to Pass)

When a lesson is complete you must state so as well as who passed the lesson. This is so students can than mark it on there List of Lessons on there profile and keep people from saying they completed it when they really did not.

Professors can create class rules and if these rules are broken the professor can reprimand the student who misbehaved in anywhere they see fit. Some options could be taking house points (make sure to see how the house point work before doing this one), detention, ect. The opposite is also true though if a student does something miraculous or exceptionally well the professor can reward them in anyway they like most likely being house points. (remember to read the House points subforum on how house points work).

Professors can also take a class on a field trip however they must first submit an event request under the Requests forum and entitle it "(Class Name) Field Trip Request". If the request is accepted than the professor must put it on the classes main wall as well as announce it in class.

Setting up the Class

Each professor is responsible for setting up there own classes. Meaning that they have to get a picture of the class either of the professor teaching it or the classroom itself. Giving a description of the class and/or classroom if you didn't post a pic of the classroom itself as well as putting the List of Lessons, what Lecture blocks it is in and the Days it is on.

After you have copied the code below, go to the Requests subforum and create a new post entitling the post with your characters name and what class it is for. Once it is approved a Guild Captain will paste it in the correct class thread where you than can begin your class.

For Students

Students must follow the Professors instructions and rules for their class. If students do not Professors have the right to take points away from a house, give detention, or any other sort of reprimand for the misbehavior.

In order to complete a Lesson on your list of Lessons you must attend and participate in 70% of each Lesson. Lessons can last as long as they need to in order for the lesson to be taught.

If a student does not complete all the Lessons in a class they will not move on to the next class level until they do so.

Scheduling

Schedules will be pasted on each Professor and Student profile once they have been sorted. Students Three years to 5th years can pick up to 2 electives, while sixth years to seventh years can pick 3 though one must be a special elective.

If you are a Third year or above and have chosen electives make sure to add "electives done" to your profile title so the Guild Captains know you have chosen and can fix your schedule appropriately.

* If you have any questions about anything feel free to check out the Q/A subforum under the "F.A.Q" thread or any of the questions there and if you don't find your answer please make sure to post it under the Q/A thread.
