The morning breeze swept across the cub's face as gently as a the flap of a butterfly's wing, but one would think it was with the force of a hurricane. In the blink of an eye the tan cub's paw rose up and swatted aggressively at his own snout. Crazed grumblings followed the action, before his conscious thoughts stirred him awake. He rose slowly, ears twitching as he picked up on the brilliant sounds buzzing all around him. Looking around him, it seemed his family was still dozing around him. All of them balled into one giant circle, their fur helping to keep one another warm, while their Mother's slept around them shielding them from any possible dangers. Simba smiled as he looked from Momma Umeme to Momma Zara, he was so proud to call them his parents! Despite how annoyed he got when Momma Umeme refused to allow him to go exploring. They loved the three cubs more than anything, and he knew nothing would ever tear them apart. Simba's eyes perused a little further, and finally connected with his brother, who had apparently fallen asleep with his paw right in Simba's face. "So that's what that smell was!" He growled playfully, stepping away from his sleeping sister and nudging Ta-lem playfully in the side. "Just who do you think you are? Putting your smelly paws in my face!"

Ta-lem was walking with his brother, but they were older. Simba looked like he was almost fully grown, and judging from the fact that Ta-lem hardly had to look up, he was, too. The image was unfocused and kept cutting out, like trying to watch your reflection in the water while constantly dropping stones on it. He didn't understand what was going on; the two seemed unhappy, and he didn't recognize any of the terrain. And where was their sister, or their mothers? What was happening?
A sudden prod in the side shook the image and it faded. Ta-lem blinked his eyes open; his world was black once more. This was the second dream he'd had. The images confused him. They were the reason he was starting to think that something might be wrong with him. In his dreams, he always felt the same way as when he was awake, except there was more than just a blanket of darkness everywhere he looked. He was too young to know that, in his dreams, he was seeing.
He didn't have much time to think about it as his brother teasingly growled at him. Attention successfully distracted, he got to his paws and turned his face in the direction of his brother's scent. To anyone that didn't know the family, it would appear that he was looking at his brother, his eyes narrowed mischievously to match the smirk spreading across his maw. Anyone that did knew the slate blue cub was blind.
But, as usual, Ta-lem's lack of vision didn't stop him from acting like a cub. "I had to put it there to block your smelly breath!," he taunted in a whisper, careful not to wake the rest of the family. Sticking his tongue out, he quickly turned and hop-scampered outside, using his the sounds of breathing and the strength of the different scents to dodge around the sleeping forms. Depawsit I think this is the only other tag with me c:

Simba could do little more than laugh at his brother's quick reaction. That was one thing his brother had on him - one heck of a reaction time. Whatever it was, Ta-lem always had him beat at it, and Simba was always left in the dust to think of what his next step would be. Very much like he was at this moment. "Aww c'mon, it can't be that bad! If it was Momma Meme and Momma Zara would have said something by now!" He stuck his tongue out at his brother, knowing full well he couldn't see the action. But made a very simple sneering noise to attract his attention none the less. Simba was always the type to follow his brother's lead, despite the fact that Ta-lem couldn't see, he always seemed to know exactly where he was going. Which was quite the relief to his younger brother, who always tended to bring up the rear in their excursions. That of course wasn't to say he was but a shadow to his brother, oh boy far from it! But the two had a very fine balance, that very few could understand, even their own Mothers. "So where are we off to this early in the morning?! You hardly woke up and you're already setting us off on an adventure?" Flicking his tail around excitedly, Simba'moto followed behind Ta-Lem at a safe distance, when the time came he would no longer stand behind, but in front. That time just hadn't arrived yet. Rennekae Oh dear goodness, I'm so sorry this took as long as it did >_> I fail! Nema and Dhoru, coming at ya next <3

The morning sun faintly warmed Ta-lem's fur as he emerged fully from the den, telling the cub that it must still be quite early - with his dark pelt, the sunlight must still be quite weak for such a light touch.
As soon as he felt only emptiness for at least a tail-length in all directions, Ta-lem stopped and stretched dramatically, limbs sprawling every which way. In the end he was on lying in an arc on his side, paws stretched to their limits and tail curled over his back, scuff marks in the dirt around him that resembled a botched attempt at a snow angel. After a couple heartbeats, the now dusty blue Ta-lem raised himself into a normal lying position and listened to his brother's pawfalls as Simba trotted after him. "We should just go anywhere and see what we can discover before Mother Umeme finds us and brings us back again. Maybe we might meet some other lions!"
Ta-lem's ears twitched excitedly; he hadn't actually met many of the other lions in the pride. But he knew they were there; he could smell them, and hear them, and feel them. It might be nice to speak to someone they had never met before.

His brother had to hold in a snort of satisfaction as he watched Ta-lem fall to the ground in satisfaction. He seemed to get such enjoyment out of such simple activities. It really made Simba want to roll around in the dirt with him, and just enjoy the idea of being so close to his brother. But he restrained himself from doing so, for the simple fact that he didn't want to interrupt his brother's bit of peace. There would be plenty of time for the two to roll in the mud later, but for now he would silently giggle at the strange arches his brother made in the dust upon the ground. As his brother stood, now a rather dusty grey, and less of a deep blue Simba finally let out a snerk of laughter at his brother. "You look like a statue Ta-Lem." He knew his brother had never seen one, but it was funny none the less. "You really wanna go exploring don't you? You think you're ready to meet more lions? " Stepping forward just a bit, he left the space between them open, but knew that his brother could now feel his intrusion. "I mean, I just don't want you to get hurt Ta-lem"Rennekae REN <3 *tackle cling* If you'd like, I could toss in one of my females for this RP, or we could just RP the two of them in this RP and then we could do another where they run into one my girls .... OR they go a little outside the borders and run into my male. He's not a bad guy though, quite the contrary <3

Ta-lem's whiskers twitched with amusement at his brother's comment; they both knew full well that the statement wouldn't mean a thing to the sightless cub. Nevertheless, Ta-lem didn't mind when people referenced seeing and had always loved that his brother wasn't awkward about doing so. Unfortunately he seemed to be the only one.
Even without vision, Ta-lem could feel the dirt thick in his pelt. He gave himself a quick shake, returning some of the colour to his fur. He stopped as he felt Simba shuffle closer, a wave of concern rolling from the golden male. Closing the gap, Ta-lem butted his head playfully against his brother's chest and smirked. "You're just as likely to get hurt as I am. Maybe even more so!" he teased, before brushing past and trotting off without any real destination. Depawsit You can throw in whoever you'd like. If you want, we can do them meeting the male on the border, then being picked up by a female. c:

Simba grunted roughly as his brother butted him in the chest. It wasn't rough, but he liked making sound effects for his brother to react to! He knew he couldn't see the likely ridiculous faces he made when things like that happened, so making reaction noises had become force of habit to him. He didn't mind it not one bit, in fact he LOVED it, it gave him a chance to connect with his brother on a level no one else could understand. But he did, and that was what mattered.
"Hey! I know I can see, but its not like I could have seen that coming!" He joked, picking up his pace to chase his brother. "And what exactly was that supposed to mean?!" He mocked being offended as he finally caught up. Though he wasn't apying much attention and bumped right into his brother's rear. Or at least, what he thought was his brother's rear.
Until that rear made a very loud yowling noise and began to roll....
He'd been up most of the evening patrolling, he'd long since noted that that was when the pride needed the most assistance in its guard patrol. Of course they'd warned him multiple times against patroling the borders, but after countless attempts to prove his innocence and goodwill he had finally broken them down. He had been granted asylum, along the borders. Ability to patrol, so long as he did not cross paths with other guards, and under the law that he pass all information off to an elite guard as soon as possible.
He followed his position well, and had done so for quite some time. Until just recently when he'd taken a break to visit his other children. They lived quite a ways off, and it was at least a week's journey. But now, he was finally back and had completed his first patrol. Only to come home and rest, and be awakened by something kicking him in the back!
The male let out a yowl of pain as the pain struck him, and he slowly rolled over to discover the issue. Only to discover to cubs, one with very pale eyes standing before him.
"And just where did you two come from exactly?"
He asked, lowering himself to their level and speaking in a gentle voice.
Rennekae Here we go! Updated post with both in it biggrin

Ta-lem had scented the strange lion and stopped a few paces off, hackles raising; the blind cub wasn't used to the smell of a mature male and was caught between fear and excited curiosity.
A soft thud, followed immediately by a rather loud and angry screech, and Ta-lem flattened his ears to his skull. His brother must not have noticed the stranger and run into him by accident. Or else noticed him and run into him on purpose - he didn't know. Either way, Ta-lem couldn't leave his brother to face the new male alone, and he padded toward Simba's scent until his whiskers brushed the pale golden flank, then turned to face the new male just as he spoke.
"That would be a much better question for you." he stated boldly - much more boldly than he actually felt. While he wasn't aware that it was a real rule, he had noticed the distinct lack of mature males in the pride, so he knew this one didn't belong. And he didn't intend to give out too much information. Depawsit I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond - I have a lot going on. I'll try to get caught up this morning and then stay that way as best I can.

It felt like an eternity before the fear that had temporarily blinded him, lifted off and gave way to his sight once more. But when it did, he truly wished it hadn't. Because what stood before him scared him more than anything else he could ever imagine ... even worse than Ta-lem's smelly feet! And those, were quite the feat to overcome!
It was a large male, or was he large? He certainly seemed large to Simba'moto, but then Simba had never in his life seen a grown male before. He could only see what his own eyes could judge. Quivering a bit, he could hear full well every word that his brother spoke. His eyes bulged wide as his brother strictly threw the question back at the other male.
WAS HE CRAZY!?
Turning his head quickly from the large male to his brother and then back to the large male, he steadied himself long enough to stand and wobbled over to his brother.
"TA-LEM! Shhhhh He's BIGGER than us! Muuuuuuuch bigger!" He hissed in his brother's ear through whispers. They were intended for the older male not to hear, though that was only the logic of a cub speaking.
Drakma watched with curiosity at the way the duo responded to one another. One was cocky, yet steered clear of the front lines, while the other was more reserved and seemed to take the lead. It was a strange way of doing things, but he wouldn't question it, cubs would be cubs, and he was certain he'd done his fair share of silly things as one himself.
That would be a much better question for you.
The cub's words hit the male like a rock to the face as he reared his head back in slight shock. Yep, definitely the braver of the two. But at the same time, not exactly the smartest. It was quite clear he didn't want the male to know where he came from. Yet he so boldly asked the male why he was here. Insinuating that a male should be nowhere near the area.
A warm smile wrapped around the big oaf's maw as he plopped back down upon the ground and kept a careful watch on the boy's. "Well that's a simple enough answer I suppose. You see, I guard these lands." Pausing for a moment, he waited to gauge their reaction.
"And I suppose its a good thing I do too, otherwise what do you think would happen to two young cubs like yourselves out in the roguelands?" Rennekae It's fine! Take all the time you need <3

Ta-lem payed little attention to his brother's fretting. Just because he couldn't actually see the new male didn't mean he couldn't tell that he was larger - he could feel his size through the earth, the pads on his paws sensitive to the tiny tremors caused by the rogues movements, and he could hear it in the way his deep voice rumbled.
However, blue cub's ears flicked in surprise at the male's last word; Roguelands. Was he implying that the brothers had left the pride's territory? Ta-lem parted his jaws slightly and slowly pulled air over his tongue. The male was right. While Ta-lem could still smell the large gathering of felines that was his home, it was slightly stale in the immediate area, as if they were here regularly but didn't stay long. Usually, even Ta-lem hardly noticed his blindness. It was all he'd ever known, and his other senses more than made up for his lack of sight. He had always been able to function as well as his littermates, with only the occasional slip ups to indicate his difference. But this time it may have landed him in pretty deep trouble, and worse, he'd brought his brother along.
Fear started to creep into Ta-lem's mind, his pelt pricking along his spine. Not of this male - he didn't seem hostile in any way. Not of the possibility of unseen threats - he couldn't scent or hear anything unfamiliar close by. But of the wrath he and his brother faced when their mothers found out that they had wandered this far. The stranger temporarily unimportant, the blind cub's gaze flicked to Simba's face, his senses probing for any hint that his brother had caught on as well.
