He couldn't shirk the smell.
Bathed in the light of the evening, surreal illuminations rendering Destiny City in a minute twilight zone, everything looked beautiful. Including him. Especially him. As he sat atop the precipice of a roof, legs crossed, wind teasing out the folds of his sarong, Adonis watched carefully for the beginnings of his new assignment. He understood the basics of his mission, and marginally the reasoning behind it, but...
He still couldn't concentrate. That damned odor.
The corrupted blonde finally rose to his feet, stretching to his full height before assuming a more languid disposition. Oh, but that hair... Those swaths of hair tied up behind him, heavily restrained and cumbersome as they hung from the back of his head. How was he expected to do much of anything when adorned in a strange outfit and sporting leagues of hair? Surely he could pull anything off, but he doubted the Negaverse intended for him to play the supermodel part. No, they made their orders clear - drain the energy of those around him. That had little to do with his tantalizing looks, but that didn't mean that seducing someone into letting their guard down and draining a helluva lot of energy was out of the question.
This would simply be easier if the smell of bleach didn't cling to his senses. It was terribly distracting.
Adonis walked toward the edge of the building, quite enthralled with how the wind teased his hair and all fabric remaining free. It felt good to have a breeze, something to cool him off since he desperately needed it, right? One couldn't be too hot.
And maybe he was, for the aftermath of his job still plagued him. No amount of sessions smelling coffee beans had much of an impact; did he somehow get bleach in his hair again? For that reason, he was thankful to be a blonde, but it didn't help his case. How was he expected to utilize his charms to fulfill his mission when he reeked like a chemical factory?
Obviously he learned his lesson: take a long, hot bath before going out.
Still, he dropped to the streets below, knowing full well the ramifications of doing so in a skirt. He didn't care; someone likely saw the graces of God if they looked up at the right moment. Something else nagged for his attention though... It felt like a mild chemical burn, something just beneath the surface - too deep to rinse with water. Though it didn't quite hurt, it felt irksome and distracting. Oh, that's right - didn't they warn him about this? Purportedly, this was his ability to sense nearby enemies. So if he could sense them...
They could sense him. This might not go so well.elza magica let me know if this works!

Medea, on the other hand, stunk of roses and sunshine, but she wore the biggest frown, thinking, What is bothering me? Something is bothering me, but I locked the door and turned off the lights, so what could it be...? She sighed. Could it be the 80 pages of reading due on Monday? Yes... Or! It could be a youma. Or! It could be one of those Negaverse agents. But nooo, she thought because it seemed unreasonable that tonight of all nights--ten minutes before she returned to her apartment to finish her analysis of dogs in The Reef--an agent of the Negaverse would challenge her to a fight.
She rather liked some of them--especially the ones who complimented her--but the fighters worried her because they aimed straight for her pride--told her she didn't know anything, which made her want to nestle so deeply into her blankets that no one could find her--particularly her mentors, whom she feared she failed.
Are you really going to flirt with every guy who looks at you? She sighed. Maybe she could wish on another shooting star? She felt she wasted her last one on Remarque, though it brought her closer to la verité. Besides, they'll only leave you, like Lord Byron or Rhett Butler, or they'll kill you: Bluebeard. Henry VIII.
She looked to the rooftops, hoping for another wish.
But wait.
She squinted.
What?
SUDDENLY! She found herself stretched across the ground, something heavy on her back. "Ughhhh." Her head throbbed. "Wha--?"

So where was this feeling coming from? It pervaded his presence there, set him on edge. And he far preferred being reclined than being on edge... So it fell to his shoulders to locate this discrepancy and disarm it through any means he saw fit.
That is, until he realized the source of his discomfort lay beneath his feet.
"Oh, well then, that's one way to sneak a peek. You could've just asked." Quickly he stepped off the trampled senshi and offered a light laugh to (hopefully) dispel any suspicions that he intended that little stunt. "You always hang around buildings like that, babe? Maybe you should pick a safer venue." He offered a gloved hand to the purple-haired girl as a means to get her on her feet.
As much as he was loathe to commit to it, Adonis was instructed to fight the enemy, to assault them at any juncture. He wasn't comfortable with the idea; wasn't it possible to simply convince them to join the Negaverse's cause? Better yet, couldn't they simply cloak their machinations in shadow and avoid the senshi altogether? This girl didn't look anything like a trained killer - rather, she looked quite the opposite. Between glorious curls and beautiful golden eyes that nearly rivaled his own (nearly - ivory was clearly the superior color here), she couldn't possibly be a weaponized teenager like they described.
Adonis crouched down to help her to her feet, though he clearly knew nothing of how to operate while dressed in a skirt.

"Thank you, kind one." Medea grabbed the Senshi's hand and rose, dusting off her skirt. She glanced at his ivory and eyes gleaming like the pale moonlight off jasmine...HOT, and they hand-touched! This night didn't seem so awful after all: Maybe they could hunt or grab coffee or study the stars? Supermodels didn't fall from the sky all that often. How romantic and sudden--straight out of a B rated rom-com. "Or should I say, attractive one...?"
She laughed. "Oh, you are clever. No, I typically prefer museums and libraries, but this is my job, so..." She studied the black markings on his head and chest. Were those markings? She squinted. Were they...indents? Thraen warned her about holy Senshi, but the stranger helped her off the ground when he could have stomped her face in, and he could have run away, but he stayed to chat.
He didn't seem evil. Yet, Medea felt obliged to ask as she grasped his hand between hers, "So is this the part where you say mean things and toss a few punches, or would you prefer something more interesting...?"
She smirked and released his hand. The others wouldn't like this, but she couldn't out-fight him, could she? Maybe she could reason with him--convince him Senshi weren't so terribad and they could be friends.

Adonis absolutely adored compliments, and she indulged him thoroughly without prompt. Who was to say these senshi were such horrible beings? Charmers and flatterers, perhaps, but he deserved both. He flashed her one of his sultry smiles and replied in kind. "Attractive will do nicely, since I absolutely floored you, babe." Following that pet name was a quick wink.
However, his good mood soon gave way to confusion when the girl's eyes drifted toward his chest. Considering he wasn't a woman, he didn't have much to offer in that region - and a moment later, he realized what might've drawn her attention: the black holes. He saw them himself in passing, and felt they looked markedly ominous. Despite that, his outfit drew attention to it by framing it in a large golden ring. Was there some importance to the hole in his chest, or was it more of a warning?
Stay away - there's something missing here.
No matter - she didn't attack him afterward, so things couldn't be all that bad, right? "Yes, of course - how could I forget? I might even strangle you with my hair." He adjusted the twin tails as he mentioned it - the weight rested heavily on the back of his head. How did the rest of those Negaverse senshi put up with it?
"I can't say I'm too inclined to fight such beauty like yourself. Besides! Look at how we're dressed," he gestured to the entirety of his outfit, as well as hers, "how can they expect us to attack each other in such cumbersome clothing? It's like they expect us to strip it off instead." It sounded like a far superior idea, given the state of the weather these days. All that black under the burning sun... Though, the ventilated skirt helped a bit. Her outfit, as colorful as it was, lent a little more forgiveness for the summer months.
Adonis grinned slyly. "But if it makes you feel better, you can convince me to just... stay and chat for a while." Though chat wasn't really what he meant.

Ahh...This was how he wanted to play? And that wink! Oh, he seemed devious, but she liked it. A bit of flirting never hurt anyone, right? The bothersome feeling that plagued her earlier vanished as she studied his smirk and eyes and hair and physique...Yep. She could definitely go for that.
"You're a cutie." she laughed. "And so complimentary! Thanks for the ego boost!"
Ruthie... No! Not her conscience! This man didn't seem evil! He just fell off a building...onto her face! No conscience! No! Remember what Thraen said...These guys are trou--
"Sooo, do you come here often?" She smiled and glanced at his skirt. "Prancing about in that delightful thing? You're right: It seems very practical for battle."
The enemy seemed so eager to chat! What a relief--based on her first battle, she feared they would attack her without warning--and her colleagues implied they would stick their hands down her chest and tear out her soul, but hooray! Thus far, most of them liked to muse or flirt. She purred: "It would be in your best interest to make friends, don't you think? After all, the more friends one has, the less likely one's chances of facing harm..."
"...Though anyone who hurts someone as lovely as you should be punished."
She stepped closer, smiling to soften the question: "This may come off as forward, so please forgive me, but what are you anyway? I've heard of Corrupted Senshi, but you seem far too kind..."

"Depending on what type of battle we're talking, it's quite practical." Oh, he had a million of those. Maybe he'd successfully disarmed her, if anything? She appeared disinclined to fight; that had to play into his favor. Surely there was nothing wrong with a bit of a cease-fire... Not everyone had to die.
She had a good point, though. "Is that an invitation? Because we can certainly get acquainted somewhere more private." Especially if she intended to bring punishment into this whole affair. Who knew the senshi were such charmers? He might as well take advantage of it! Perhaps he might be rewarded for such endeavors? Not that he knew the Negaverse too well; Adonis was learning what was required of him, and if he happened to slip up and fail to attack the enemy? Why, he was confused, that's all.
However, he paused at the mention of corrupted senshi. What a terribly negative connotation.
"I've... Never heard that term before. But, you may call me Adonis." With grace becoming of his confidence, he offered a bow. His unruly hair slipped over his shoulder and brushed against the ground, and in a moment of ruffled annoyance, he pushed the tails back into place. Perhaps the cosmic barber might see to correcting that problem sometime? No one else seemed to sport this fashion issue - if this enchanting young lady was any example, she remained fit with curling violet locks tapering off just past her shoulders.
"I'm a senshi just like the rest, I suppose. A little different in appearance, maybe, but as far as I know, we're more or less the same." Opposite sides notwithstanding. "But if we're going to be forward here..." His voice tapered off and he indulged in a charming smile. "You are positively enthralling. Tell me your name, mm? Or do I have to settle for 'beautiful'?"

"Adonis! You charmer!" She wanted to curl up with him, but did he only flirt to protect himself? Obviously, he had nothing to fear, but still, he seemed just as new as her. Maybe he felt on-edge? How could she show her sincerity?
Wait.
How could she trust him to be sincere? This seemed almost too spontaneous.
"Hmm...That seems reasonable, but how do I know you won't spring fifty officers on me?" She pouted and glanced away. "It just seems so unlike me to go along with a stranger, anyway, and one of the opposing faction, well, that's just shameful." She smiled up at him. "But maybe...what were you thinking of specifically?"
She wasn't completely sure he was a run-of-the-mill Senshi. If he were, he would have magic, right? Yet, he didn't seem aware of Corrupted Senshi either. Maybe he was something else?
She laughed, blushing. Ughh. That made her seem vulnerable, but maybe in an endearing way? Hopefully he wouldn't notice. "Thank you. Oh, you make me smile. My name is Medea, Senshi of Enchantment."

"My dear, if I had fifty officers to spring on you'd I'd be entertaining those fifty officers right now! Fifty..." He whistled his surprise. "I don't think I could keep up with [i[fifty. If it takes that many to take you down, I'm lucky you haven't killed me yet!" With a subtle raise of his eyebrow, he backed up a couple steps.
Soon after, with a flick of his wrist, he pointed toward a location yet unknown. "You seem sweet enough. Why not the Sugar Shanty, right down the road? We can't just stroll in as we are now, I think everyone might have a bit of a heart attack. That's too much sexy in one central location. But," he drew out his last word with a smile, "what's to stop us from hopping onto the roof and enjoying the view, mm? Nothing wrong with that, even if we are 'terrorists'." The only thing he could possibly be terrorizing was the hearts of Destiny City's hardworking citizens. Surely no one could pass him by without a swoon? Well! That explains all the exhaustion in these parts.
"Miss Medea, it seems we have some strange nicknames. Though I think you got the upper hand on the enchantment bit - I can't say skin sounds endearing... Maybe a bit foreboding." After reclining a bit and resting a hand on his hip, he shot the girl a curious glance. "So, am I still too suspicious for you? Too enshrouded in doubt and mystery? Maybe if you ask nicely, I can strip a little on the way there. That wouldn't leave too much to the imagination..." With a lewd smirk, he faced the direction of the candy shop and started down the alley.
Inwardly he remembered that heading into public grounds was frowned upon, but how could he help himself?
"You coming?" He asked over his shoulder, beckoning for her to follow. However, the more he thought about it, the more he realized his folly - if this was truly a war, which he doubted, then one of his own might spot him fraternizing with the enemy. And then what? A slap on the wrist, or would he find himself standing in front of a firing squad? Though the thought was chilling, he tried to push it from his mind.
He still smelled bleach.

Ah, he seemed too clever, comparing her sweetness to that of Sugar Shanty, and she laughed at his surprise. She felt lucky that they met on friendly terms. She wondered if he did this with everyone. Probably, but it's not like you're in a relationship or anything. You can still go out and have fun. No one would blame her, except of course, her mentors, but how would they know? She didn't expect Adonis to say anything, or else they might come after him.
She worried about her reputation as well, but...
It wasn't like this would influence her professional life, and besides, she was only 20. 20-year olds were known for their crazy, midnight adventures.
"Mm. Adonis." She grabbed his arm. "Senshi of Skin, like pleasures of the flesh? That suits you."
Where do you go, Adonis? Where do you go when you are lonely? Does someone like you feel lonely, Adonis? When are you happy and bright? I want to get to know you. Are you what I may become?
"So how long have you been doing this, my dear?"

"Doesn't it though? Even the name suits me." As if he was born for the job. But he hadn't yet seen his powers, so he couldn't attest to any lewd aspects of his abilities. Inwardly he hoped he wouldn't have to use it, for what good would he be in a fight? Her assertions suited him far better than any soldierly aspect could.
Unfortunately her next question merited a dismal answer. He could tell her the truth, and thus she'd learn he hadn't seen much action as a senshi (if any at all, in either sense), and she may surely turn on him in her knowing that he's weak. Course, that could've happened anyway so why dwell on it? He wasn't here to impress anyone but himself. Maybe a couple superiors, but that was mostly a superficial thing.
"Truth be told? Not very long." Was there any way for her to tell? If so, that might've been a loaded question.
Oh, how exciting. This was turning out just like a game of poker.
Adonis crossed the street with the girl, despite the growing number of awkward glances in his direction. They must not be a fan of the hole thing - admittedly he wasn't either. And they did warn him about meandering into the public eye... But he heeded that advice in his own way - he wasn't taking her into Sugar Shanty, was he? And since he wasn't terribly fond of the fact that he might get in trouble for his demonstrative personality, he diverted the pair toward the lesser populated streets. If anything, it was marginally better than trying to hop between rooftops.
"How about yourself, Medea? Seen any action in your time?" He purposefully didn't specify; any sort would suffice. "Have you ever used your attacks?" Despite his forwardness, he was interested to hear about her senshi magic. What did enchantment look like in action? Purely from a spectator view, of course.

Oh, he loved himself, and he wanted others to love him too. She figured that from his comment about the name. She didn't mind for within limits, loving others required loving oneself. Smiling, she shrugged and said, "Yes, perhaps you're destined for it, and I'm quite new myself. I haven't seen many Senshi powers yet, so I'll show you mine if you show me yours? I've only used mine a few times, and it's intriguing, I guess. Best in tactical situations?"
From her experience, most Senshi powers were buffs: Concentration boosts, speed boosts, etc., and her magic seemed relatively harmless, so how bad could his be? It wasn't like he would burn off her skin or anything.
She rested her head against his arm. "Oh Adonis, this is bad, isn't it? If anyone finds out..." She sighed--always liking the troublesome ones. She wondered with whom she'd end up. She smirked. "Regardless you're very cute. No wonder all the civilians were looking at you!" She tugged his sleeve. "You like it don't you?"

Was she going to ambush him with some monstrous attack, then? She didn't really behave in a manner that suggested hostility - her body language informed him of the opposite. Why not engage in a little show-and-tell, then? "Sure, how bad could it be? I haven't seen any senshi magic before, but it can't be that bad, right?" Did they even receive offensive powers? If her attack wasn't a painful one, then surely the rest couldn't be so bad.
And this provided a stellar opportunity to witness his own attack. What powers stemmed from Adonis? Being of skin, he suspected something tantalizingly lewd, much like himself. Who knows? Maybe he had healing magic.
"Of course it is - but it wouldn't be fun if it wasn't bad," he replied, a lesson he learned himself long ago. Afterward he wrapped his arm around her narrow shoulders and guided her into another convoluted alleyway. From what he remembered, they were getting close. "You must like it too, with such attractive arm candy." That wasn't to say she was unattractive herself - quite the opposite. "Do you always cavort around with your sworn enemies, Medea?" He teased, punctuating the lighthearted joke with a laugh.
He was in a good mood - good company, good weather, good destination. Naturally a little fun in the alley would only bump the day's status from good to excellent, but he was careful not to hope for too much.
"If we're going to play with each other, though, it might be a better idea to do it here. I don't think either one of us wants to experience falling off a roof. It's messier than you could imagine." He would know - he's seen it firsthand.

She warmed at his arm across her shoulders. How could dangerous magic come from such a friendly guy? She pressed her head to his chest, careful not to catch any of her hair in the...hole. Hmm... She hadn't met any Senshi like this before, but he claimed he wasn't corrupted, so...
Maybe he didn't know what corrupted meant? How could someone kind be someone sinister? She didn't understand. She would trust him for now. After all, she trusted others of the opposing factions, and they became her friends, and Adonis seemed one of the friendliest.
He wouldn't hurt her, right?
"Oh no!" She laughed. "We're not supposed to do bad things, Adonis! This is so unlike me!"
She grasped the hand on her shoulder and smiled.
"You're very attractive, and I'd hate if you fell off a roof or something because it might mess up your bone structure and you have very nice bone structure."
She nodded. This was flirting. Flirting was good. Yes.

"I have a lot more to offer than my bone structure, pretty. Trust me." As saddening as it was to part from usch a warm and attractive presence, he slipped from beneath her leanings and his lithe fingers traipsed along her arm until he finally parted with her touch, nails against fingertips. Now he turned to face her, widening the distance between them by walking backward down the alley.
Finally he stopped, when he was certain the cover from prying eyes was greatest. "Bad is relative, Medea. Hitting someone with your attack is bad, but we're just experimenting here!" He leaned to one side, propping his elbow against the grainy wall of the closest building. His hand easily entwined itself in his hair, just above the twin tails of spooling hair. "So why not show me what you got? That attack of yours sounds pretty interesting. Maybe I'll show you something equally interesting in return, mm?" He flashed an inviting smile.
Oh, he knew exactly what he'd like to show her. Certainly anyone would pin him for an exhibitionist at this rate.
"Just try not to hit my face and all's well." After all, how was he supposed to play poker with no poker face? It seemed odd to think of such things right now, but he had both very normal and very abnormal experiences in his existence in the Negaverse. On one hand, he found the militaristic aspects very jarring, especially when considering his outfit and the methods by which they had to operate. On the other hand, the majority of the people he dealt with were his age - provided, they were indeed adults, but... Shouldn't they fraternize rather than paint the sidewalks with each other?
He'd seen the realities of this war, as evidenced by his sudden increased workload, but then he was faced with instances like these. Did Medea bear that kind of malice? Had she killed anyone, and had he cleaned up after her? An eerie thought - one he would discover an answer to shortly.
