Tiletk wandered out into the open once more and sort of crouched near the monster and began to just simply watch it. It had moved around with no purpose other than to hurt others it seemed.
It struck out at him as if to prove a point and he leaned back away from the strike. "Rude." She tried. She really did try this time. She walked into the arena, feeling a sense of urgency at her presence. She found the first monster she could hit, and her axe swung, but it hardly nicked it. She wanted to be upset. She would have been, a few moments ago. But when she realized Tiletk was there fighting this particular monster, at this particular moment, she did something she hadn't actually known how to do until this moment, and now couldn't stop. She smiled at him. "Hi again." Tiletk moved out of the way of another attack when he noted Lyzzi, "Hi again, friend~," he coo'd at her cheerfully as he struck out at the monster after greeting her.
Then there was the arrival of Fayre. A welcome addition. Someone that made him feel a little less lost and alone - more and more each time she showed up. Then she smiled at him and it seemed that his smile grew much wider - there was a thought in that smile, a feeling, a memory that playfully taunted at the edge of his mind.
He knew that smile though he wasn't sure why entirely but..
"Fayre~, I missed you." He said simply. "We've only seen each other a couple of moments ago?" Tiletk's voice was sincere but with an edge of playfulness. Fayre's smile faded. She found it hard to understand the smiling man, sometimes. She wanted to, but it was difficult. She chose to focus on the presence of the other girl, instead. She'd seen her greet him, but when Fayre thought about it, she'd seen Tiletk greet everyone.. "How could you miss me in a sea of friends?" He had to have dozens. Maybe more. Did he miss the girl who fought silently, now? Freya felt the sting of an attack beat her away, and slashed with her axe to try and fend it off. And then she attacked again, not really paying attention to the conversation or the creature; she was just fighting because it was expected of her to do so. Lyzzi's silence was accepted as it were. If she didn't feel like speaking then he would not force her to. Dutifully, almost like a mother hen, he was watching after her from the corner of his eyes.
There was something in Fayre's words that startled him to the point that it caused him to trip up on a dodge and become injured, but not badly.
How to answer that question? Was there a wrong way to answer it? Of course he missed his friends, all of them and yet there was something different with this. Something about her that made how he felt ...different.
"I miss everyone because they are my friends. Truly. I consider them all friends because they fight with me and do not betray me," Tiletk began as he turned toward the creature so he could attack it as he spoke, "But you Fayre...You make me feel...Like...I am at least somewhat whole again."
He still felt the urge to look. Something was still missing. Feathers. A soft voice. Gentle clicking sounds of a beak.
"Sometimes I just ... want to hold your hand a while but, can't do that in a fight," he laughed a little. She made him feel whole. For a shadowling, a creature so hollow and so unfinished that there was nothing but the fight and the blessings and the goddess - for creatures so wretched as they, feeling whole was a blessing they couldn't hope for. She looked stunned, and maybe a little disbelieving, at his words. No, not disbelieving. She might not have believed him, if the hollow glowing edges of her own heart didn't warn her that she felt the same way. She let go of her axe with one hand, and then looked at her palm. Why would he want to hold it? Hands were made for fighting. Tearing. Ripping. Killing - She turned and swung her axe over her heart, screaming in a sudden fit of violence as she lopped a nice chunk off of the monster. When it knocked her back, she grinned up at him wildly. "Then I guess we better kill it fast!" If anyone wanted to see Tiletk get stunned, this was their chance as he went to swing his weapon just to end up not even lifting an arm. He wanted to kill the monster so badly right then, but her words. The grin. The eagerness of her tone caused him to stop and he felt ...
Warmth.
At least phantom warmth. It started at his core and radiated outward and he could do nothing but let it consume him.
"Y..Yes!" He responded after a second or two. He was smiling still, eager. Someone that responded in kind to him. Proving that his feelings, the triggers within him weren't wrong. She didn't stop. Her axe went flying, over her head, into the monster. Over her head, into the monster. It started to feel good. It started to feel like she was doing something right, something she was supposed to be doing, something that - It fell over with a flop and started to ooze in the throes of death. Oops. She dropped her axe down to her side, turned to the smiling man with a curious expression, and held out her hand.
