He needed to leave, to get away from his family and out of their lives. He had given it a year of his time and things never seemed to get any better from his view of the world. They all felt too happy, too hopeful. Couldn't they see what was right in front of their eyes? The demons in this world were too strong for any of them to handle. 'Foolish foal' They hissed angrily. Ears flicking back as a strike of pain lashed through his mind, the stallion froze in his steps and lowered his head lightly as his eyes clenched shut. They tore at him constantly, mocking his weaknesses, scolding his childish belief in hope. Feeling the pain leave as their attacks cease, Regulus let out a low, deep rumbling sound before he suddenly reared up and slammed his hooves into the ground in his frustration.

They all needed to shut up.

He hated this silence he'd cast himself into, hated the worry he felt on his mother when he was growing up. Yet he wouldn't speak on these matters, he would be weak if he called on other's to solve his problems. He'd solve this even if it meant tearing himself apart in the process. Glaring at the ground for a moment, he soon lifted his head with a flick of his tail to stare off at the large lake he'd been searching for. Letting out a sigh he moved close to the edge, oblivious to anyone who may have been nearby. Dropping his gaze to the shifting water, he stared at his reflection with narrowed eyed that slowly softened. Snorting he shook his curled mane out before stepping down into the water, the flames that flickered up his legs sizzling before disappearing. Markings dulling in the presence of the cooling substance, he let out a sigh and settled in. Something about the water always set him at ease. Standing knee high in the water he soon moved to lay down, completely submerging his body as his eyes closed in contentment.

His mind always felt free with the disappearance of his fire.

The north was so...bright. Her brothers were asleep and Nina just couldn't sleep anymore. Sauron had already split from them and she had to admit, she missed him already. Yesterday, they had noted some large body of water called a lake. This interested Nina to no end, she had never seen a large body of water. She had seen an oasis before, but that was supposedly not even close. She walked off in the direction they had said before she spotted it. It was beautiful. These northern horses had it easy, they didn't have to travel to an oasis or chop down cacti for water. They definitely led an easy life up here. She walked up to the waters edge, not knowing that there was some one laying in it not far from where she was. Dipping her nose in, she took a sip. It was even nice and cool! She stuck a hoof in experimentally. Wow it really was cool! Moving farther in, she backed out quickly as her runes started to sizzle. The water produced steam as they hit her fire runes. She snorted as she went back in.

He was finally at peace, the water always seemed to shock everything to silence. Eyes falling closed as he relaxed into the water, Regulus felt a small smile tug at the corners of his lips as he listened to the calming sound of the water lapping against his side and bouncing off to ripple towards the shore. Fo focused on the sound of the water and solitude of his own mind, he was unaware of the other's approach into his small piece of the sanctuary. At least he was until the familiar sound of sizzling reached his ears. Was there a fire? Eyes flashing open, he swung his head around to the direction of the sound, his heart racing in his mild fear.

Narrowing when they landed on the bright-haired mare, he gaze flashed dangerously as he stood. He'd never seen her before. Ears pressed back as his mane hung heavy with water, Regulus watched for a moment as she observed the lake. It was almost as though she'd never seen something like this. Markings alighting dimly as the sun above dried at his pelt he shook his head in worry. It was still quiet, good. Yet as the sound of the water washing over fire persisted, he found his gaze flicking to look over the bright markings on her pelt. Hm. Like Romans.

"Does it hurt?"

His voice was low and rough as he called out to her. It was evident that he didn't often choose to speak out loud. In fact this was probably the first time he'd said anything the whole day, but he persisted. Wading through the water to move a tad closer to her, he raised a brow and motioned with a tilt of his chin towards the water at her hooves.

"When you touch the water."

The sudden voice startled her but she just froze in her tracks. her head swiveled to where the voice had come to find an interesting male staring at her very aggressively. Her eyes squinted as she looked at him. With him standing now, she couldn't believe she had been so fascinated by the water that she hadn't seen him there. She wanted to back up out of the water so it wouldn't keep her flames from coming back but she didn't want to show weakness to this male. When he spoke, his voice was rough as if he didn't talk much. Nina didn't like the way he looked at her and she felt out of her element suddenly. In the south, no one dared look at her like that because of who her grandfather was. But now, she was in his territory and he had the advantage.

Needless to say, she was shocked when he asked about her legs hurting from the water. As a matter of fact, it did a little, a steady burning sensation was on her legs where the water met her runes. She quickly dialed down her heat to a manageable temperature so that the water would quit vaporizing. She didn't let it show on her face that it did, the only thing that gave it away was the continued narrowing of her eyes. "Not at all." She lied. If she knew anything, she knew not to let people know her weaknesses.

If Regulus was anything, unobservant was definitely not one of them. In his silence he'd always found himself studying those around him, learning their quirks and habits quietly by himself. After all he'd never known when any of them may have turned like his dreams foresaw. So when she turned to her, eyes full of shock he took notice instantly, though gave little response to it. He didn't care if she was frightened or stunned. Instead he was focused fully on her general appearance. The way she held herself in the water confused him. After all, he'd seen the way she had back out of the cool lake in surprise when he had first taken notice of her presence.

Ears flicking forward at her words, they twitched slightly as the sound of the water's complaint to her fire slowly lessened allowing their surroundings to fall into a quiet lull. Lifting a brow he tilted his head, as if wondering if what she was saying had been true at all. Hearing the metal of his chain clink with his movements he let out a huff of air before turning to climb back out onto the shore.

"It didn't sound very pleasant is all."

He'd announced, matter-of-factly as his hooves hit dry land and he turned to face her form. He really had never seen her before. Giving a flick of his tail to rid it of a bit of the heavy water that clung to the strands, he shifted his weight on his hooves as the small flames of fire flicked back to life behind the armor he wore. Feeling a scowl tug at his features, he turned his head to look down at the ground below his hooves. Yet it all remained silent, thankfully. Lifting his blue gaze back to her, he approached a few steps.

"Are you new around here?"

The mare's careful gaze never left him. As he moved out of the water, she turned and followed feeling more comfortable on the ground. Niniane could notice his calculating gaze and it somewhat unnerved her. She too, shook out her short but colorful tail. Her mane was different though, even though she hadn't gone into the water very far, the bottom of her mane was wet and stuck to her legs. And that was when she noticed his flames which stirred more than one emotion in her. Fear, panic, curiosity and disbelief were among those. She made her runes grow hotter so she could call on her fire if she needed it. But he was very attentive to her for what ever reason. But for now, Nina wished she hadn't slipped away from her brothers. What if this was one of her Grandfather's lackeys that he sent to retrieve her. She should try to answer his questions, but give him no information, she decided.

"I guess you could say that." She said calmly, quenching her emotions and schooling her face back into neutrality. He took a few steps towards her and she flicked her ears back yet again letting him know she wasn't comfortable with him getting closer to her. Her tail flicked and she thought of calling Bronwen. The pup she rescued was now fully grown, and looked oddly a lot like she did. But she refused to bring Bron anywhere he could get hurt. Nina's eyes flicked down to his flames every so often, trying to think of any other flame wielders she knew in the south but none came to mind. Surely there weren't any in the north, and if there were, wouldn't they need to be related to her? Her brother Bruin had the flames, and Nascien had heat. This male really unnerved her, but with her face carefully schooled as she used to do around her grandfather, none of her emotions were showing.

Lifting a grow at her words, or rather lack of them, Regulus peered at her in silence behind his curled bangs as he tried to think while his mind was silent. He'd paused a few steps from her at her initial sign of discomfort. Strange mare, he'd never come across another who had such the ability to carefully hide her emotion. Lifting his chin slightly, he tilted it to the right in question as his tail flicked once more under the annoying weight of the water. "Could and I believe did."

His words were cold as he shifted his weight on his hooves, the armor moving against his hide as he did so. "People around here don't seem to be as tense as you are. At least from what I've noticed." Flicking his head to toss his bangs from his line of sight, he lowered his head to peer at her markings once more. They intrigued him, after all it was not everyday you see a mare with fire etched into her coat. As he fell silent to eye her markings he felt small flames from his fire lick up his legs as he appraised her. Almost as though it didn't want to be the one ignored by him. It always seemed like craved his attention. Feeling a scowl tug at his lips as the first hushed whisper reached his ears, Regulus let out a snort of anger as they twisted and flicked back into his mane in response.

He could barely hear what was said, but he refused to listen to them now after the welcoming silence of his mind. Eyes flicking to the water, he found himself wanting to return to it's cooling reaches. Drawing in a few, shallow breaths as he felt his worry and anger return, Regulus shook his head and huffed. After the tempting whispers disappeared, he allowed himself to return his gaze to the other. "Your markings remind me of my brother." He announced suddenly, his voice tense and hinting at the anger he was feeling.

The mare too flipped the bangs out of her face as she studied him. He seemed to make quite a few assumptions, though all were surprisingly correct. Niniane made note of his comments, when she got further north, she'd have to make sure she didn't seem so tense. At least she was learning something from this stallion. "I'm not like most people from around here. And from what I've noticed, you aren't either." Nina continued to eye him. There was just something about him that was familiar yet unsettling about him. Something that made her want to get out of there as quick as possible.

When he said that her markings reminded him of his brother, that's when she really got suspicious. Her tail swished more now as she was getting more irritated and wasn't as able to contain it. "And your flames remind me of my brother, grandfather, and apparently my father." Nina narrowed her eyes at him and her ears flicked different directions to try to sense if anybody else was around. Just then, she caught the familiar scent of sulfur which could be attributed to his flames but it just put her even more on edge. What if her grandfather had followed her?

"Most people from here are idiots." He snorted, his ears flicking back as he shifted on his hooves. They were all to trapped in their little world to see how things really were. Stupid individuals who follow others blindly, weak minded Azrein who succumb to anyone who shows the least bit of leadership. Manipulation and cruelty at every turn. Frown pulling at his lips his eyes flicked with inner anger as his inner flames licked at his ears, whispering the tales of his fathers actions. Fueling his disdain for family, and reminding him of the weakness his mother carried and ultimately he himself held. Sensing the growing tension in the air between them, he lifted a brow at her statement. Her family carried flames as well?

Stepping closer in her direction, his sharp blue gaze cut out from behind his twisted mane, and tail flicked behind him. "And what are the names of these Azrein?" His tone was serious, this was a question he wouldn't allow her to skirt around if she tried. If there were more Azrein who carried the flames outside of his family he needed to find them. 'She's lying to you..' Regulus' brows pulled together as the whispers grew on volume. 'You'll never find another to answer your questions. These names are pointless, you know that.' Feeling frustration building in his chest, he shook his head to try and shake them from his ears and out of his mind, but they persisted. 'She's useless, do away with her. Kill her you stupid colt!' Muscles trembling, he turned to look at the cooling water. "You will tell me." He snapped harshly before she had time to answer.

Niniane noticed the male's obvious discomfort. His snorts and ear flicking helped her get a better idea of his personality. But a war seemed to be waging itself inside him as she noticed the hint of anger in his eyes that was accompanied by a frown. She was instantly on alert when he took a step forward ans spoke. His tone was serious, almost dangerous sounding like his whole world depended on her answers. His brows furrowed as he shook his head and mane. Nina wondered what was making him so restless, was this a trap? He looked at the water before snapping at her again, this time with much more anger hidden in it. He hadn't even given her time to speak, not that she would have.

"Like I'm going to tell you. You want me to tell you something that could endanger my family. You have to tell me something as a show of good faith." Her eyes squinted as her runes heated up. "Why would I tell you something like that when I don't even know what kind of danger you posses to my family."

"Endanger your family?" Regulus started as a curt laugh left him. This stupid mare. "If you refuse to tell me I'll just rip you open and find a witch to read me the names from your heart." He snarled, the madness of the voices cackling their approval in his ears as he moved to circle around her in an attempt to block her in between him and the lake. He didn't need this right now. His temper already flaring, his sides burned as the glowing of his coat alighted to mimic his feelings harshly. The flames themselves seemed to feed off the frenzy his mind was falling into. Openly egging him on, but he wouldn't fall to that so easily, at least he wouldn't if he could keep calm. Drawing in a shaky breath to steady him resolve to try and coax it from her he closed his eyes as he let it out slowly.

"Ahh, I have no reason to harm them, there are just.." Pausing he struggled over his words as he opened his crisp blue eyes to peer at her. "I just need.." Shaking his head he drew in another breath, this would have been so easy if she just answered him. "I need to speak with them. There are questions that.." His voice was steady, but the strain in speaking so calmly at the moment played in his tone, as inside his mind reeled with holding himself where he was. Muscles twitching with the urge to go over and simply force her to speak, and the screams and taunts echoing in his ears. "..would help if answered."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 31, 2013 12:20 pm

"If these questions are so important, ask me. If I don't know the answers and I think my family would, you can travel with me to ask them of my family." Nina said calmly. It was plain to see that this guy was hanging by a thread, one breeze from falling into the abyss. She'd never met anyone so close to being knocked off their rocker, well, she thought many of the sixers were crazy but not in this way.

Nascien and Sauron wouldn't like this, but Nina thought she could always send ahead for her family so they could answer any questions this crazy has away from home. They'd have to put off the surely emotional homecoming, but that was fine with Nina anyway. She side stepped to try and keep from being trapped between him and the water. She wasn't too fond of the water but she'd swim through it to avoid hurting anyone.

She wasn't listening... Eyes flashing as his anger soared, Regulus stamped a hoof into the ground once. The force of the impact echoing through his body enough to keep him still for a moment longer. It was so simple, one word would work. One simple name. Were all mares this.. this.. daft?! "You?" He asked in slight surprise, his gaze traveling over her form for a moment before a harsh laugh echoed from his frame. Yes she held the markings of being flame-touched but she didn't bare the actual fire. She wasn't the right one! "Were you demonborne? Hm? I'm looking for the one they say came from hell itself, the one who carries the actual flames on his skin as well as demon runes. You hold neither of them, so tell me. What use would your answers be?" He snapped in his frustration.

"I just need the answers from someone who would know. I need.." he shouting rose and his voice cut off into a loud annoyed yell as he reeled back a step or two. "Dammit! Shut up! I can't think!" The stallion snarled to no one in particular, his ears pinned back almost hidden amongst his name as he tried to block out all the words swirling around his head. They mocked him, scolded him, taunted him. 'We'll shut up if you just kill the mare~' They laughed, lifting his front leg he leaned down and rubbed at his face with his knee before turning from the mare. He wouldn't hurt her, he wouldn't. They would get what they wanted. Walking back to the water he quickly sank into it's embrace and shivered lightly. He was here to keep them quiet and disappoint them at every turn. "Please help." He sighed as they quieted to a dull murmur, he didn't dare look at the other.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 31, 2013 1:14 pm

This poor stallion was mentally unstable. It became clear to her once he started shouting random things. She relaxed just the slightest bit. Especially when she realized the one he was looking for. The sting of his truth didn't go unnoticed though. Nina had always wondered why her Grandfather had taken her and Audro when it was Bruin who had the flame.

He turned to the water and nearly immersed himself in it but it seemed to help him as he said "Please Help." But what did he need her help with? She wanted to try to do what she could for him, as it would seem he's family. "What do you want with the demonborne?" She asked him. Nina was facing him now as he was in the water, even though he wouldn't look at her. "I know who he is and where you can find him. But you have to answer my questions first."
