A quest! An exciting quest to fill bags.

This wasn't L'Cakepies patron goddess, as it were, but she seemed nice and he wanted to help. Especially since she seemed so disappointed about the bag being empty.

The scissors also looked fun.

He trotted off to the doors, and was disappointed to find there wasn't a blue door. But red seemed like a nice color. And yellow was the color of the goddess who'd given him the bag. But the orange door seemed friendliest!

He put his key there, and twisted.

The path is lined with smiling lights.

L'Cakepies feels like he made a good decision. He follows the lights until he comes to the end of a path, and there's a grave.

He thinks the grave is pretty friendly too. He gives the stone a pat, and readies his scissors. He has to reach realllly far, arm-deep, to reach the source of the thumping noise (which is the sound a heart makes), and when he lifted it up...

He's warm, and wrapped up, and something disturbs him. Hands. The air is chilly. He squawks, and chokes on a noise. He keeps making the noise. The hands draw him close, and he's being covered in something that makes him warm again. There are new sensations, on the inside/outside, a smell, not like the deep and rich ones of the place he was drawn from, but similar, lighter, and if he knew the words, he would say it is the smell of wood. Paper. Dust. He can't see very well. But something's glowing, all sorts of colors, and he feels even more comfortable, and sleep washes over him.

Confused, L'Cakepies puts the heart in the bag.

L'Cakepies walks on, even though the floor's suddenly gotten all wet and sticky.

"Give it back."

L'Cakepies holds it tighter, and walks more briskly.

"Please give me back my-"

The water's getting deep, but L'Cakepies holds the bag under his arm, and strokes forward determinely. Just keep going. Nothing to worry about, nothing to see...

Two hands grab his neck and force him under the water.

"F-Father-" L'Cakepies wails.

He's sitting at a desk. He looks at the clock. He's been there all day, but today he met someone. They are maybe like a friend. They are at the company too. And he promised that person he could meet them, would meet them today, except he's working for his Father, and there's a lot of papers to finish, and spells to copy, and letters to officiate. Not that he can write any spells himself, or embellish them, he must in careful handwriting copy the exact strokes, or it will come out wrong.

And his are always coming out wrong.

So he ends up doing a lot of copying, and a lot more stamping.

He's stamped a lot of letters today. More than usual. He's been working really fast, and he's pretty sure that he can finish early. He can make quota. And then he can meet his friend. He eyes the clock. He eyes the pile of finished letters. He looks at the pile remaining. So close. Just a little more. And done! He's done! He's finished!

His father is walking by his desk.

He smiles up at his father.

He wants to ask if he can go. He's worked really hard.

His father does not smile. His father puts down another stack of papers. He wilts. He looks at the clock. He gets the stamp, and pulls over the next paper.
Maybe he can make it. Maybe he will only be a little late...

He's inhaling the water, and it doesn't feel good at all.

He used the scissors, it was all he had with him, and really, the stabbing seemed about right.

His Father and the water both disappeared.

L'Cakepies looked very pale, but he grabbed his bag, spit out what remained of the foul...water...stuff...and rushed very quickly for the door.

He could feel his father looking at him, and he walked faster.

Another task!

L'Cakepies takes the knife, but he can't make head or tail of what the goddess is telling him, exactly. When he wakes up in an empty room, it's even stranger.

"H-hello?" he tries.

And there is somebody there. But they're not nice. Not in this bleak, sad, colorless room. They want to hurt him.

Pickworth, what have I told you? Down-stroke, Up-stroke, you have to be consistent-

...Heeeeeee should probably get going.

Door, door, where was the door, there was a door, he was pretty sure....

And a piece of paper! Did that help! He couldn't tell.

Nothing to see here.

Scary people should just move right along and...there were numbers next to the door. Puzzles! Ha-HA, it was a puzzle, and he could do these in his sleep, this way, that way, punch the number pad- AND-

He took a moment to catch his breath, leaning against the door which was shut firmly behind him, before wandering into the forest.

"U-um, is anybody...?"

Pickworth...

L'Cakepies walked faster.

He walked all the way to the bridge, and then he walked across that too.

He reached a house! Finally, now, if only...the door, wouldn't be stuck...he pulled at the doorknob fruitlessly.

Give me your heart.

...COME ON DOORKNOB.

They are eating dinner, and his Father asks him to sit up straighter.

His Father patiently explains a complicated theorem.

His Father has thrown away his wooden toy, and replaced it with a secretarial set.

They are posing for a portrait together, and his Father tells him to stop smiling.

When Pickworth leaves the house, he steals some of his Father's good magics, and doesn't even have the courage to leave a note.

He wrings the doorknob, and never notices the knife. His Father stabs him in the back. And when his heart is ripped out, L'Cakepies is not really surprised.

A boy! Parties! L'Cakepies sat down cheerfully, and reached for the pink jar of course, because it was nice feeling.

The cake seemed really his kind of thing.

And of course he went for the rainbow cup!

Pickles is surrounded by his friends.

They are minipets, of course, but he knows them each by name. He has built tiny chairs from cardboard and scavenged whatever cloth he could find that creeple wouldn't miss- old shirts, sheets, and one very worndown quilt, and arranged them on the ground.

He has tried to put a few minipets in the chairs, but for the most part they wander down.

"Alright, attention, attention!" he says, clanging a pot. "Storytime!"

This doesn't mean much to them, but Pickles doesn't mind. He folds his leg up, and opens a great big book with pictures.

"Once Upon a Slime," he begins, "there was a beautiful witch, who lived next door to a tall and dark vampire."

As he reads, he's right there with the witch through her trials and tribulations. He boos the sparkling princess, who is always ruining everything, and cheers as the vampire steps in, fangs bared, at the crucial moment. The witch, and the vampire, and everybody except the princess really, live creepily ever after, weaving spells and preying on the annoying.

"Oh Dulcifer," Pickles reads, sniffing a bit, "I've never been so wickedly happy in my entire life." "Oh Gizellda, I thought I'd never be able to tell you how I felt, but now that I have, we'll join our houses and no one will be able to stop us."

There was a big page of their houses, bound together by magic, and the smiling pumpkin sun overhead. Screams of delight leaked from the upper window, while bats and cats played together on the roof.

Pickles shut the book, beaming at his minipets, half of which were missing.

"It's nice to pretend for a while, isn't it?"

Colour of Tea Tasted: Golden Brown
Description: Light, Sweet, with an almost bitter finish

Your commentary on its flavour: Gun couldn't help but laugh a bit at the memory. It was silly and fun, and brought a smile to his face. But the end felt almost sad as it rang with felt like too much truth. How long had this person been pretending?

Colour of Tea Tasted: Dark GoldBlood Red
Description: Enchanting, Nostalgic, Loving.

Your commentary on its flavour: It was childish, but she loved it. Something so sweet and tender. Even the flavours of the memory touched her soul. And she sighed as she finished the cup dry. This was definitely a feeling she loved very much. She would have probably remembered all the names of her own mini pets i she had...

Colour of Tea Tasted: Brown
Description: Light, whimsical

Your commentary on its flavour:
The taste of this tea was almost too sweet, but in a good way. It was simple, but tasted like happiness and good times. There wasn't as much depth to this memory as there was to the other memories Amati had tasted, but that was the best part of it, she thought--it was joy for joy's sake, and completely uncomplicated.
