Mooncake was perched in a corner of his mother's shop knee deep in a book. His snout practically touched the pages as he examined the words scrawled across the book. A large leather bound volume titled The Compendium of Creation Myths across the World. At the moment he was reading quietly aloud to himself the Shinto myth of creation.
Visions of the gods danced in his head as he read the words. He could practically see the spear they used to create the islands on the earth before him. The beautiful ink drawings on almost every other page simply added to the beauty. The way the ink seemed to flow so perfectly in the illustrations. He sighed contentedly, satisfied with his reading for the day, and struggled for a moment to nudge the heavy book back into it's place on the shelf.
With a toss of his mane the little flutter boy rose onto his hooves, his wings buzzing with excitement. In his minds eyes the gods were still there, creating, doing good, and causing trouble. It was fascinating to think that what was now myth was once considered to be truth.

It was the biggest book which made it the best book which also made it the perfect book to gift to her sister. It even had pictures in it! Shrill X had taken a peek at it earlier and had then left it alone, making sure there wasn’t anything better. There wasn’t. It had to be that book. Mooncake had only just put the book back on the shelf when Shrill X trotted over and took it down again. She was quite pleased with her generosity. After all, she’d noticed the little guy reading and had let him finish in his own time, instead of demanding it for herself right away. Shrill X grinned. Singsong was going to be so pleased!

Mooncake watched in horror as a little filly removed the book he had just been reading moments before. That book was his! What did this girl think she was doing with it? What if she ripped the pages or smudged some dirt from her hooves onto those wondrous illustrations.
He couldn't have that. He couldn't lose his favorite book and so he would endeavor, despite his small size, to retrieve it from this phony. His face contorted with determination, eyebrows knitting together.
"Like Autolycus stole the helmet from Odysseus, what are you doing with that book?" It took all his will to keep from shrieking those words. He hovered an inch or so above the ground, flying as best he could over to the filly.

Shrill X wasn’t sure what half of that sentence had been, but she could answer the second part well enough, "I’m buying it." She turned to face the Flutter, stretching herself up as tall as she could and giving him a challenging stare. "You got a problem with that?" She'd kick his add before giving over her prize.

Mooncake's jaw dropped. This filly wanted to what? He stomped his little hooves on the wooden floor as hard as the little flutter could muster with his spindly legs. His wings were buzzing angrily now and his antennae twitched with agitation. He knew hat when it came to size and strength he had no chance, but maybe he would be fast enough to snatch it away and run.
"Y-you can't buy that! It's mine!" So filled with emotion was he that he could barely properly form words.

"Has it got your name on it?" Shrill X retorted. She dropped the book to the ground and pressed her hoof firmly down on top of it. "Do you know what this place is? It's a book store. For buying books. So that's what I'm going to do. You put it back. I saw you! So buzz off."

"My mom owns this shop!" Mooncake huffed in return, trying to seem as intimidating as possible. But, when she stepped on his book the little colt crumbled to the floor. That perfect leather cover and she was ruining it. "You gonna break it! Get off!" He wobbled over to her, trying to do his best to nudge her off the book. "Why do you even want it for?! I bet you don't know anything about creation myths!"

"So what, you think you own all the books in the store?" Shrill X refused to budge, pushing back against the smaller foal. "Bugger off, bug boy! Not that it's your business or anything, but I'm going to give it to my sister and since she's smarter than me I'm sure she knows about those whatever myths!"

"No!" He pouts. "I don't think i own all the books here. But that one is mine!" He is easily pushed aside, which only increases his frustration. "Well who cares about your sister?! I just care about my book!" With a whine he bends down, trying to pull it out from under her hoof with his teeth. "She'll never love that book like i do!"

Her eyes narrowed and she sucked in an angry breath. "HEY! I care about my sister and I'm about to kick your tiny a**! I'm buying this book and you can't stop me." She took her hoof off the book, but only so she could give the Flutter a shove.

Mooncake yelped loudly as he was shoved, his eyes watering. "I don't know your sister! Why does she deserve my favorite book?" He cried, trying to regain a firm stance on the ground. He spotted the book, no longer shielded from him by hoof and pondered whether or not he'd be able to snatch it away. It didn't hurt to try (or maybe it would) and so the flutter darted towards it.

"She deserves everything!" Shrill X shouted back and then gave an angry shriek as Mooncake darted forward to try snatch the book away. He was quick, but she was too close for him to get away clean. Rather than try grab at the book before he got it, she threw herself straight at her enemy with a battle cry.

"Why?!" Mooncake shouted back and within a few brief seconds he became more like a squished flat than anything else. The little flutter wiggled and squirmed, trapped beneath his larger opponent as he howled. "That book is my favorite out of the whole store! Why should see get to have it?!" His little legs flailed about as best they could beneath her, trying to regain some ground.

Shrill X was now almost entirely on top of her nemesis and was doing her best to go limp and heavy to crush him even more. "Find another favourite! You can't stop me from taking it!"

Ruriska Yeah, we might need an adult. I can see if astra wants to throw silk in? XD Mooncake squeaked loudly as he was crushed to the point of having difficulty breathing. "You can't take it! I love this book!" He screamed, trying to wiggle his way out of the his current predicament.
