He had realized now that he enjoyed these fights, not for the reward but for the thrill of them, and of course the baubles were nice but like everything, they belonged to his Goddess.

The spear had been a trustworthy, familiar weight, but the guns were lightweight and significantly more efficient. Licraesa fired off a clip (six bullets, aligned).

Were the creatures getting weaker, or were the people getting stronger? Probably the latter, Rojand thought. He swiped at the computer-thing almost lazily. There were enough people nearby to finish it off with ease.

"Quite," Sarviur acknowledged. It was a familiar shadow that he'd joined in the fight this time. One after his own heart, it seemed! And there, the one who'd had the spear before - Licraesa. He owed her thanks. She'd been the one who'd mentioned the sacrifice, to her own Goddess.
He ignored the crackling, staticky monitor and focused on the body beneath, crouching and stabbing where its core should have been. A familiar motion...
It had fallen, and was fading quickly.
