If he wanted to get anything done tonight, he needed to eat something, and soon. He wouldn't be able to focus with his stomach roaring in hunger. Guide took a moment to take in his surroundings in the failing light. Darkness was beginning to creep over the swamp, the light making a steady retreat. The already dim waters grew darker, and shadows pooled in their depths. He noted a variety of plants, some he recognized, but others he could not name. One of the former turned out to be edible berries, just what he needed. After devouring his small feast, he turned his mind towards the task at hand, and his eyes towards the stars. It was time to begin.

She got up slowly and stretched, blinking the sleep from her eyes as they adjusted to the dusk light. This was the week that she was going to spend exploring the plants that awakened and bloomed at night. She nosed the leaves back into place, nibbled on some of the fruits and nuts she had brought from yesterday's expedition for a breakfast of sorts, and made her way to the more foliage-dense part of the swamp. She started out on a path she had walked before, then came across a tree that was covered in a sort of golden ivy. She stared at tit in wonder, her eyes following the curling stem from tree to trunk to roots and other shrubs. She followed the blanket of ivy, knowing that it was an indicator of good soil quality, hoping it would lead her to some unidentified plants. Willow walked until she was in a clearing of sorts, with grass that came to her thigh. she marveled at the lush colors of the treetops, gliding through the middle of the clearing when - suddenly - she tripped over something and tumbled several feet. She stood quickly, poised and ready to run if the thing she fell over turned out to be hostile. She breathed a silent sigh of relief when she saw that it was a plumb-colored buck. "Oh dear... I am so sorry..." Willow murmured softly. She dipped her head in apology, embarrassment and nervousness crossing her face.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Guide was completely focused on his task. He had his makeshift map, (a very large and flat leaf), laid before him. Clenched between his teeth, he held a vicious looking thorn; this was what he used to poke holes that signify the location of stars. He was busy doing just this when he felt a swift pain in his side and heard someone or something fall. Shifting his gaze to the ground beside him he watched as a black doe scrambled to her feet. Her gaze found him and she visibly relaxed and quickly uttered an apology. Guide was a little embarrassed himself. If he had not been so absorbed in his task, he would have heard her approaching before she had stumbled into him. Standing, he spoke an apology as well, or tried to before realized he still held the thorn. Setting it down, he tried again, "No need to apologize. The fault is entirely my own. I should have heard your approach and warned you of my presence."
