With the task for the goddess complete, it only felt right to take time to wander and explore. Ephi was still with him, and he couldn't help but feel that maybe he had earned himself a true companion for the coming days while they continued to grow and learn and be shaped by everything that occurred. ....What was that strange noise? Lex turned to see some strange thing ambling towards them, moving at a gait that was actually somehow more unsteady then his own. "Look out, Ephi! It's a thing!!" He called to his partner, before shuffling forward to kick at it. "Back, back! Stay awaaaayyyy." It was not very effective. Having finally killed the creature that had given him so much trouble earlier, Vane was feeling pretty...well, he didn't know to call it confident, but he was feeling pretty good about himself. He had gotten separated from Shaw, though, and he kind of liked the guy, so he went out in search of him. If he found something else to hit along the way, well, that was okay too. "Hey, you're okay," he told the others. "These things aren't that bad. They're pretty breakable." He proceeded to demonstrate by smacking the thing with his weapon. Oephis blinked at the monster and then waved a hand at Lex. "It's okay, Lex. I'm an expert." She readied herself for attack and launched, flailing rather pathetically. Not nearly as pathetic as how badly she missed.
She jumped away and eyed the other guy, waving him. "Hey! You might wanna fight or leave!"

"He has a hitty thing, he can stay." Lex grinned at the new comer, eyeing his weapon with growing interest. "Say there, how did you come across such a nice hitty thing?" He asked, conversationally, reaching out to give Ephi a consolatory pat on the head before stepping forward to try and kick at the machine a second time. Breakable or not, he was still a little bit weary of it, and when he kicked at it he did so from what he deemed to be a moderately safe distance. It was so safe, one might even say it was untouchably safe. Vane grinned at the girl who waved at him. "Fight or run away? Fight, every time." He nodded his thanks at the one who said he could stay. "I don't know. I fought a bunch of other monsters--not like this one, I've never seen this kind before--and some things fell out of them when they died, so I took it and eventually this happened," he explained, holding out his weapon> Then he smacked the monster with it. Oephis sent a fist towards the creature, hitting a little softer than she probably intended. Still; she did some damage and that was better than nothing, right? She took a retaliatory blow that knocked her back a little. Well, if the new guy said it would be okay.... Lex shuffled his way closer to the contraption that spewed it's odd noises and looked a lot like it was going to topple over at any second. It certainly didn't appear very healthy, or nearly as dangerous as when he had first encountered it! Leaning in close, he lifted up a fist that appeared to be skeletal in appearance among the grey shadows, and let it fall down with a thud. The machine clattered, beeped, and finally fell over, going completely still. "I think I wrecked it!" He said, rather excitedly, beaming from shadowy ear to shadowy ear. Scurrying around the fallen body of their enemy, Oephis found something shiny and she picked it up, carefully examining it. She didn't know how it would turn into a weapon but a weapon would sure come in handy, she she shoved it into her pocket before turning to the other two.

Oh, oh, there were shiny things now too, just like that other figure had said there would be! With a large grin, he stooped down to retrieve not one, but two of the objects that had fallen out of the defeated contraption. "Do you think I can?" His eyes widened at the prospect. "I would very much like to have one of those hitting things. Ephi! We neeeeeeeeeed to try and make a hitting thing Im-meeee-diatly! Do you think these fit together somehow?" Loot: X2
