While Lou wasn't what one would consider a genuine or good soul, deep down under all the s**t and perversion, if you used a magnifying glass, you could find this meager portion of good somewhere in there.
Victoria had given him the only gift he could remember receiving, and as show of his appreciation, he wanted to surprise her by making it work again. All it really took was a detailed book that he could study, and the boil was confident he could pinpoint the exact cause of malfunction, but it was time-consuming work, and not something one could finish in a day. Therefore, the vessel of time lay in pieces on his black coffee table as he slowly began examining and reassembling each piece. Lou was very careful not to scratch the mirror, just as a show of what little respect he had for another person. <********, it's like this thing doesn't want to be fixed." He mumbled to his foxfires, who were asleep on the couch beside him. "I'm gonna take a shower. If either of you touch this, I'll throw you both out the window~"
And with that, he disappeared into the bathroom, the door clicking quietly behind him.

Victoria had spent some time thinking about her gift to Lou; although she thought that mirrors were the greatest things in the world, she knew that not everyone thought of it that way... Maybe he was just too polite to tell her what a useless gift the pocket watch-mirror was since he couldn't use the mirror, and the watch part of it was no longer functional.
Thus, after much deliberation, she dug into her piggy bank and realized that she probably had enough to get the watch fixed professionally. The problem was how she was going to get the watch back from Lou... It would be rude to ask him for it since it was a gift, and if she explained what she wanted to do, he might not let her spend her seeds on fixing it.
The option she settled on was that she would steal it. Steal it, get it fixed, put it back. He would never know, and if he brought it up to her, she would just act surprised! It was the perfect plan... Except now that she had found her way to his room - phasing through the door was easily achieved - she found the watch in pieces. Were the nearby sleeping foxfires the culprit? The way all the pieces didn't look chewed up made it seem unlikely... So there could only be one logical culprit.
Lou had betrayed her, that smelly betrayer.

After the ghoul phased in, the two foxfires woke up and began barking (and drooling) happily. Their little butts wiggled and waggled from excitement before they jumped off to greet their new visitor. They didn't get visitors often!
"Shut up guys!" The boil shouted over the running water, not realizing that they actually had something to bark at for once.

Victoria had ignored the foxfires, mainly because she just wanted to phase in, grab the watch, and phase out again, but now that the watch was in pieces, there was no way she could do that. Since Lou was in, she decided to stay in order to confront him about the watch.
For now, she paid attention to the foxfires, patting each of them on their heads with either hand, "You have a terrible owner."

Both foxfires, though unable to show anything resembling a sweet smile, appeared happy to have the attention. It seemed that the happier they got, the more drool they produced... Which made for quite the mess.
The sound of flowing water stopped just five minutes later, and a noisy shuffling started.
Out popped Lou, with nothing but a towel on... butatleastthetowelwasthere. "Jack damn dogs, did you see another sq-" The vampire halted his soft scolding, his face becoming very blank when he spotted Victoria. Uh... Uh?
The boil looked over towards the entrance to ensure the door was closed. If anyone else saw this scene, there was no chance he would ever be able to live it down. Okay good it wasn't open. "You've picked a slightly inconvenient time to visit, pipsqueak."

Victoria was unfazed by the drool... Because she could just phase it all off if it got on her. It was just one of the advantages of being a ghost.
Despite it being the first time she was seeing any boil only half dressed, she didn't seem embarrassed by the sight. Partially because she knew that boils often go swimming dressed inappropriately anyway, and partially because she was pretty upset at Lou right now. Narrowing her eyes at the boil, she grabbed one of the foxfires, hugged it to herself, and pointed at the watch pieces on the table with her free hand, "I trusted you."

Foxfire didn't understand it was in the middle of a throw down. Even if it did, foxfire didn't give a s**t because yay lubbins.
Lou, on the other hand, did care. His brow furrowed as he glanced over to where Victoria pointed. Damn, he really hadn't wanted her to see until it was finished... But what was this s**t about trust? "Yeah. I know you do." Or was it did now? What the hell? "I figured that's why you gave me the watch. What is this about?" Did she not want him to fix it? Had he committed some kind of sin by doing so? Lou had no other friends, so the idea of that escaped him.

"Why did you make it spoil..er? Spoiler. More spoiled." Sure, it was already spoiled when she gave it to him, but he just made it worse! Was it intentional? But why would he do that to a gift she gave him? It was probably never getting fixed now, not even with a whole piggy bank's worth of seeds... She bit down on her lower lip, staring accusingly at the vampire.

Wait.... Waaaaait.
Victoria thought... He'd tried to break it more? For what reason? Spite?
Lou's lips scrunched up like he'd just eaten something sour. Without saying a word, he walked over to the couch (keeping a firm grip on his towel), and lifted a book out of the seat cushion. It was titled An Advanced Guide on Watch Repair, which he promptly took his hand off the towel just long enough to gesture around the big, bold letters.

Victoria pivoted on the spot as she followed Lou's every step, her eyes still narrowed. When he picked up a book, she didn't think to look at the title till he started to gesture at it.
"What are you trying to-" She paused, and then reread the title. And then she reread it again. The third time she reread it, everything clicked into place and her expression changed into one of horror; she had misjudged him! Accused him of something he did not do! Noooooooooo that's not what good ghouls should be doing!
"A-ah..." She deflated, her arms dropping to her side as she let the foxfire go.

Lou just sighed as she started to deflate and tossed the book back where he'd lifted it. "I know I'm a shitty person, but give me a little credit here." Was he hurt? Possibly a little. It was his first attempt at doing something as a gesture of good will and it blew up right in his face.
OH WELL. That's the way the spookie crumbled. He undoubtedly deserved it. "Seriously though pipsqueak, why'd you come charging in here unannounced?" If she would've knocked, he could've explained before anyone got upset... And possibly could've put a pair of boxers on.

"I never said that about you," Victoria replied, her eyes darting from Lou, to the floor, and then back to Lou again. A long pause followed before she bowed her head, "I'm sorry for doubting you, Sir Lou." She had jumped to conclusions, and that caused a big misunderstanding.
"I wanted to get that fixed for you," She muttered, glancing at the table, "As a surprise." Which was why she didn't want to announce her presence.

"No. I said that about myself." Because it was true. No sense in denying it. He was a sleaze.
The vampire scratched his head as she began to explain. Oh. That was a good reason. "Okay well, that's a pretty valid excuse... So stop feeling bad." So great at handling sensitive situations. "I'm not angry." Just naked. Very naked.

"Nope." Lou smiled. "No point in being angry over something like this." She was a child. Children often didn't see a situation the same way. "It's really not that big of a deal." And it would probably happen again, seeing as he wasn't the most trustworthy creature on two legs.
"Now, do you feel better or do I have to stand here in a towel for the rest of the day?"
