Name: Drystan
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Rank: Journeyman Wherhandler/Smith
History:
Description:
Personality:
Passionate, Organized, Reliable, Affectionate
Rejects change , High strung, wavering self-confidence
First things first. He's not just a smith. He's an artist. Drystan likes nothing more than to lose himself into his work, tuning out the world around him and twisting and moulding metal into whatever shape his subconscious wants. Oh sure, he'll make the requisite hinges, bolts, buckles and whatnot, but his 'me time' is spent purely on his sculpture work. Even if others don't particularly thrill at the sight of the monstrosities he creates, he loves every one of them like they were his own children and finds it hard to part with them.
Drystan has an intense need for organization in his life which is at odds with the strange and abstract pieces he crafts. You may not be able to tell at first but every single thing in his personal quarters and life has it's own category and spot that it belongs in. Every action has a timeslot and almost everything he does is planned down to the minute, even his rest time. He dislikes large changes (such as moving) and once he's settled into a routine or location he wants to stay there indefinitely.
Also, he is Clean. With a capital C. Drystan bathes first thing in the morning and then again once he's back from the forges or whatever else he's been doing. He can get as dirty and messy as he wants while working, so long as he has the ability to bathe the moment he's done. Drystan's bed is made every morning and all of his projects and tools put back in their places every night. He has a hard time visiting other's homes or work spaces because any bit of disorder puts him on edge and he has to fix it before he can be comfortable in the space.
Just as he can give himself whole-heartedly to his work, put a little (or a lot - he's no lightweight) of liquor into him and Drystan will party like there's no tomorrow. Expect clothes to disappear, loud raspy singing, and a disregard for personal space.
Drystan is absolutely head over heels for his wher. He treats the wher more like a favored pet than a guard beast, allowing him to sleep in his own quarters and grooming him often to take care of that musky odor whers tend to have about them. It amuses him sometimes to remove the wher's large collar, allowing Drystask to go 'naked' when they're not in public. He likes to play rough on occasion, rolling and play-fighting like they did when Drystask was still a hatchling.
When it comes to love and romance, he's about as shy as a trembling maiden. He'll attempt to fake a casual calm demeanor when in the presence of a man he finds attractive but internally his heart is racing and generally he turns into a goofy mess for the rest of the day. All his self confidence disappears and he has trouble making the first move. Drystan is definitely looking for more of a long term relationship rather than a casual fling.
Other: Drystan's other passion... is cooking. He can take anything from the pantry, throw it together in a frying pan and make a delicious meal. It won't be gourmet, and he doesn't even know what he's doing, but damn if the smells coming from that fire don't make your mouth wet.

Drystask is about average for a blue. He's not particularly large or well muscled, but then neither is he stumpy or malnourished. He's just average which is more than fine with him and Drystan. For the job he's trained for, size doesn't matter so much as long as he still has a full set of teeth and claws.
His hide is magnificent though. He shines a deep dark blue with a pale almost periwinkle mask like feature that covers the majority of his face and neck, extending down to the front of his chest. It may appear strange at first to see a wher gleam, but it's only due to the fact that his handler insists upon scrubbing and oiling that thick hide almost daily. What's good for dragons and firelizards must also be good for whers.
Size: Average
Build: Average
Personality: Drystask is very docile for a wher, exhibiting few of the agressive tendancies that his species is known for. Drystan was careful in his selection of parents for this very reason. Drystask lives up to the old name 'Watchwher'. He's attentive, reserved, and surprisingly rational for a wher, only sounding the alarm when he's sure that something is amiss. No spooking at shadows or attacking friends for this fellow.
Drystask can rise to the occasion if commanded but he's definitely more of a defensive creature. He's the wher you want to keep back as the last line while the bigger and more agressive whers take the enemy head on. He's surprisingly comfortable being out and about during the day as long as his face is covered against the light. Drystask will slip into a halfsleep while Drystan works, keeping his ears and nose on alert for anything he doesn't recognize entering the smithy.
He is devoted to Drystan, but his feelings towards his handler are less loving and more content tolerance of the man's overly affectionate ways. Secretly, he loves the fact that Drystan will oil and scrub him like a dragon.
