Chester was not meant to be up and about, after having the doctors stitch up his injury so recently. He'd gotten some blood and fluids, and he had some pain medication in his system, but his head was clear enough for him to come to a decision.
He was not going to stay in that hospital. Laying in a bed for however long they wanted him to would just make him weak and vulnerable, and he was not going to take it. He probably was not as lucid as he liked to think he was, but that was besides the point for him. He needed to get back out there. One day of rest, that was what he would give himself, and then he would patrol again to gather more information on the attack on the Carnival.
Perhaps not by directly confronting more Generals or strong looking Negas. Still, he still needed to know who his enemies were, and how high up on the list they would be.
He moved from his room to find Haley's, which was not too far away from him. He slipped into her room while no one was walking and moved to sit down next to her bedside. He didn't touch her, just watching her and wondering if he should write an apology note and let her sleep.
She would probably be worried about him if he vanished without at least letting her know.

"Uhgnngngnghhh," Haley groaned, an unintelligible murmur as she woke up with sharp pains to her stomach. She was surprised to see a visitor - Luxor - no, Chester - at her bedside. Surprised, and a bit delighted. "Hey you," she said with a smile. "Glad to see you're doing okay, man. Better than I am." She tried to sit up in her bed, but the movement made her wince some ********, ow," she started. "Do you know they don't let you smoke pot in hospitals? What kind of stupid s**t is that, right? It's like, medical. Nature, right? Whatever." She tapped the button for a bit more morphine. "I got this stuff at least."

"You shouldn't move too much," he said quietly, watching her passively. His eyes were back to their normal mask of impenetrable iciness. He watched her quietly, passive, but inside he was worried and genuinely sorry that he had gotten her in such a bad way.
Not that he was feeling much better, but he was not going to let it get in his way.
"I am very sorry this went so badly... I can understand if you don't want to help me any more..." he was trying to be general about it, just in case. No one knew who could be in the negaverse or not, and he was not going to let their identities slip out by saying something in the wrong place, with the wrong people listening. Even doctors, who seemed to be the ideal picture of a 'good' people most of the time, weren't above suspicion.
"I never meant to get you so badly hurt... we shouldn't have attacked her... she doesn't care what she did to them, and wouldn't care if she killed us, either..." he clenched his hands into fists, shaking his head slowly. "At least we got here in time. I hope you feel better soon."

Haley rose a brow as she listened to the man speak. "What? Come on dude, why wouldn't I want to help you anymore?" she teased. "Look, this what this whole thing is. I've been in it for a while. And this hurts but...it's not my first time." For nearly two years now, she had actively worked on not thinking about the past time. She was brutally stabbed and beaten, left tossed into a fountain to drown. She survived, magically - literally, magically, and worked to make sure it wouldn't happen again, even if it was inevitable. "When I get outta here, I'll be sure to stop by," she said. "I'm not done with you yet, towel-boy." The morphine was starting to kick in, and the brunette started to laugh a little too hard at her own joke. "Ow," she added, the laughter messing with her wound. Which only made her laugh some more.

Chester watched her and listened to her try to comfort him, but it did not really work. He felt like he was still responsible for this time, even if she had been hurt before. And the fact that she had experience of being hurt was not a good thing, either!
He looked like a kicked puppy, watching her from under his eyebrows, his eyes falling whenever they came too close to making direct eye contact with her.
"Don't hurt yourself," he said quietly, moving to adjust her pillows a bit and encourage her to lay still. He pulled up her blanket and then sat back down, just fussing for the sake of it. He watched her, glad, at least, that the morphine was working like it should have been.
He needed another dose, but he needed to go and he couldn't be fuzzy headed or encumbered. He wasn't sure how that would work when he powered up, either.
"In any case... we will make a better plan... if there is a next time. So we're not caught so badly off guard. For now though, you should focus on getting better."

"Thanks man, take care," Haley gave a light nod farewell as she drifted off into the euphoria of the morphine high. She wouldn't be able to stay in the hospital much longer, she knew that. She had been treated for emergency and was going to get the boot from the hospital soon enough due to her lack of insurance, but she'd enjoy what she could in the meantime. Her eyes were just about shut as she watched the hazy image of her visitor Chester exiting the room, and alas let herself fall into a relaxing warm sleep.
