~*~The Maternal Side ~*~ 
Mother: Criana is a tender but adventurous Soquili, who follows along in her family's tradition of acceptance, loyalty and kindness. She admires her father for his chivalry and protection, but she's more of her mother's daughter. While she does stray from the herd from time to time to go off on an adventure (more often than not when one of her herd members convinces her to), mostly she stays at home to be with her family.
Grandfather: Crisanto is basically an Arthurian knight in personality. He helps the weak and punishes the evil. With ladies, he is always polite and helpful. Sometimes he might not realize that he's being condescending in a way. (Not every mare needs to be taken care of - they can take care of themselves.) With stallions, Cris sees himself as a role model. He will always be the bigger person and give help or advice when he thinks it's necessary. He'll be a teacher at a knight school. He was adventurous in his younger days, but now he's fine with settling down with his lifemate Kanani.
Grandmother: Kind, loving, and caring. She is also quite the adventurer, and never likes to stay in one place for long. Kanani is a steadfast type. While she can seem nervous and lost for words in some circumstances, she usually displays a courageousness that allows her to look past the fear and come to terms with the problem. She takes no nonsense from jokers, and is firm in her own opinion of things. Yet, she often displays a strange stubborn humor that makes her so likeable.

Uncle: Aonani - Aonani is a gentle spirit. He has a bit of his mother's shyness, but his father's personality really shines through. He was taught from a very young age to always be a gentleman - whether that means helping a mare in distress, or turning the other cheek to a pompous stallion. He's very sweet and charming - it's hard to think that he would have any trouble finding love. He desperately wants to share his life and adventures with someone but can't seem to find the right mare.

Aunt: Kamakana - Kama is a free-spirited, adventurous young mare who lets nothing get in her way. She's been traveling with her mother ever since she emerged from her basket to discover what remains of the old Cerynei lands. She hasn't even been able to live in her home, and so considers the ever-changing landscape to be her place of habitation. Her heart is bent on freedom, and she can't stand the restraints of others', whether they be mental or physical. She always has to be moving, to be discovering new things. She can often be head strong and forget the dangers of the real world, but she loves the fun that a good challenge presents. She's stubborn and proud, yet kind enough to offer a helping hand when needed. To those whom she is close to, she can be compassionate and caring. However, she does not make friends easily due to her strong love of being free from relationships.
Uncle: (He and Kamakana are no longer together, but he's still part of the herd.) NaokiWhile Naoki is light-hearted like his father, he's definitely not as childish. His humor is somewhat sarcastic, very teasing and fun. He looks on his father as more of a child than an adult - just who's the parent anyhow? He loves his father very much, but he wishes that he were more serious. Honestly he can't picture himself going up to random strangers for a chat let alone producing offspring with more than one mare.

Prompt Entry:
Percival, Percy for short, was excited at the prospect of an adventure in the woods. As soon as they broke the treeline, he lost himself in the wonder of scents and sights and sounds. The sounds! He frolicked happily, immersing himself in the woods. He was gone hours before he realized he had lost track of his family. Worry trickled in under his excitement. They needed him. even as a foal he was so sure that they needed him, that somehow he would be the one to protect his family. He was the eldest son. And he was supposed to protect them all, even his parents. They never said as much but he was SURE that they were counting on him. He had to find them. But... how? He started trying to retrace his steps, when he came across two odd familiars. Both were raccoons with banded masks. One was red, one was blue. They seemed to be arguing, but he couldn't quite tell what about. When he got their attention, he asked for their names, but they both evaded, and asked him, instead, what he needed, and could they help? When he explained that he was missing his family and needed to find them, they both swore they knew where his family was and were both happy to have a "mission". Percy thought they were rather odd, but was happy for the help. Also... for some reason he felt... like he should trust one of them, protect one of them... the problem was... he didn't know which one. The two racoons tried to take off in each other's directions and clashed. When they fell apart, both were blue and he couldn't tell which had been the red one. At once both told him they knew where his family was, for certain, but they both were trying to go in opposite directions. He had to pick one, trust one. One of them was willing to go with him and the other, to prove the other was going the wrong way, and that... something about that, as reasonable as it was, struck Percy as wrong. He thanked them both, and followed the one who had been less willing to compromise. He had no clue why, but it felt.. right. He glanced back and saw the familiar he had scorned shake herself. The blue fell away and she was red once again, as were her eyes. In a fury, she launched herself at the blue raccoon, murder in her eyes. Percy threw himself between the two, and took claws and teeth to his flank. He tried not to scream, to cry out, but the second time he defended the blue familiar with his bulk, the sound escaped. As if in reply to his pain, hoof beats approached. His family! How was he supposed to protect them like this?! But the red raccoon heard them as well, and with an angry noise, she turned and bounded away, stopping only long enough to say "I know who you are, Percival, you can't protect him forever."
Percy had no clue how she knew his name, or where the blue raccoon had vanished to. All he knew was that he had to show his family that he was okay. That he could protect them too...
Plot Ideas: I could see him often trying to protect people, to wrestle with trying to figure out who should be protected...and who people should be protected from. And not always getting it right. He'd be the type to protect his family from bullies, and with them he is set and firm, he knows who is who. It is when he meets other soquilli.... anyone his family vouches for, he will trust unless given reason not to. So I see lots of fun coming from rps of misplaced trust, and protection quest styled rp. Could be fun!

Personality: She's the princess sort. The only girl in a family with older brothers, she expects to be protected, so she tends to bite off more than she can chew.

Mira was excited about the hunt. She didn't know what mushrooms were, but she didn't think they were dangerous, because they were letting her go. She she wasn't scared. She was never scared when she was with her brothers and her parents. She always felt perfectly safe, except when she was alone. But now they were of to hunt mushrooms. Mushrooms! She wanted to know what they were. They sounded soft and icky. She wondered if they were slow or fast. Would they have to run a lot to hunt mushrooms? What were they hunting them for? No eat? Nah, they sounded icky. Maybe they were hunting them as a game, and any they caught would come home and be friends with them! Yeah! She had heard of familiars, maybe mushrooms were wild familiars, and this was how you got them! She liked that idea a lot. But what would they be like? Well, squishy and soft.... and room sounded large... Anything that big probably slept a lot, but she could cuddle up against it. She pictured a large rotund creature with pointed ears. maybe blue with a pale belly,because that would be pretty. She would have to be sneaky and slip up behind one so she wouldn't wake it! Goodie! This was going to be fun!
Plot Ideas: We could do lots of plots with her tagging along behind her brothers, or going off and getting herself into all sorts of trouble because she's sure that she will always be protected, because she thinks she has a safety net at all times. She would be the type as she gets older, to turn the hair of siblings and parents alike prematurely grey.
