After agreeing to a little friendly sparring, the two friends made their way back down into the blueblood's lawnring, a trip that took a bit longer that it had going up, thanks to the fact that Zeffer had been unable to convince his lusus to take them back down. Zeffer was too excited to care, and burst out of his front door, taking it as a sort of warm-up for the more exciting activity at hand.
"Alright. Let's not get too nasty here, no death blows, all that junk." Zeffer said jokingly as they drew their weapons, unclipping his batons and immediately revving the juice up to get a respectable hum emanating from both of them. He made sure his opponent was visibly ready before starting to close the distance, looking for an opening; it would be an interesting fight, what with Aprife's rather unconventional weapon.
He darted at Aprife and made a false swing, missing almost intentionally to see if he could make the yellowblood jump.

It seemed, as they stepped outside, that every trip Aprife took to Four Fronds was destined to take some sort of turn like this. In this case, at least he was still relatively comfortable, trekking across the lawnring of a friend rather than the unforgiving arena floor or the vast, uncharted desert. This was quite preferable, really. This time he had a goal that truly spoke to him. As he took out his whip and slung his bag by the side of the hive, he looked ready to play Zeffer's little game and win the informational prize he was sure would be worth it.
"You got it, I'll go easy on you," the yellowblood replied, humor in his voice, too. He knew for a fact that even in a sparring match he'd have to keep his guard up against Zeffer.
That knowledge was proven as the blueblood took initiative. The swing did just as intended, startling Aprife into a sudden awareness that it was time to pay attention and be serious. It sent him hop-stepping backwards, hardly noticing any falsehood in his awkward bid to get away. He hardly took a moment to think before ducking down to swipe a foot at Zeffer's ankle. Maybe he could knock him of balance.

Zeffer yelped, and laughed as Aprife landed a kick to his feet. Rather than flailing his batons around, however, he lamely kicked back, laughing like an idiot before landing a weak blow and scurrying back to put some distance between himself and his spur-of-the-moment adversary.

There was a momentary look of satisfaction when the kick landed as intended, though it twisted into almost childish concentration in the next moment as a boot found its mark on Aprife's calf. He flutter-stepped backwards, but his opponent was already skittering away, laughing and smiling no differently than anyone who knew him would expect. That fact made the yellowblood grin in turn, shrugging exaggeratedly.
"I may be slow, but at least I'm not running away," he hissed in a mock-condescending voice. "But if you really want it, you can have it!" He was moving even before the words left his mouth, scourge poised over his shoulder. He meant his next strike to be quick, to catch Zeffer in case the blueblood tried to wriggle out of range again. With a quick flick of his wrist, he sent the weapon's tails flying.

"Not running!" Zeffer snorted, taking a more defensive stance, and being glad for it as Aprife inevitably came at him again. He dodged the strike, only a couple of the tails of the whip catching his shoulder. Unfortunately he was still warming up (or soemthing?) because he stumbled himself, missing a swipe and knocking into the yellowblood in an embarrassing way, shoving him roughly before moving back again. "You just don't seem very serious about this, man." He spat, smirking wickedly.

Being prepared for an attack and being prepared for a mistake were two plenty different things, that much was obvious as Aprife found himself falling, balance compromised. At least he thought it had been a mistake in the short moment before he landed nearly on his a**, catching himself only by his free hand, while feeling a twinge run up his arm in the process. "I'm one hundred percent serious," he promised. Did he look it with the crookedly uncomfortable half-smile he wore as he shook out his arm and huffed to his feet?
This time, though, instead of relying on his weapon, he decided he'd try something a little different, too. The forward momentum from hefting himself up continued on through, and even if Aprife didn't have much weight behind his form, he had height on his friend, and that just might be enough to knock him down and knock the wind out of him at the same time. Both hands swung forward as he damn near fell like a dead weight in Zeffer's direction.

Zeffer snarled as Aprife came at him, predatory grin plastered across his face as Aprife actually proved his point. With all the momentum, his friend's next attack came too quick to dodge, and the blueblood cried out in pain as the blow connected, the tails of the scourge wrapping around to flick across his back.
Well. Now that Aprife was close enough it was his turn, so he walloped the other's sides with both batons, sending a nice little jolt of electricity each and every time.

It was the most significant blow he could say he'd landed the entire fight, and it felt satisfying in a way, because keeping up with Zeffer wasn't easy. Still, despite any lack of ease, Aprife had a goal and it hung out in front of his very eyes like a treat tied to the end of fishing line. This was him reaching out, really stretching, but unfortunately his gamble had left him rather open to retaliation. And it was quite the return.
Stars lit up in his eyes as the first rod connected against him, feeling almost okay until the surge of electricity that traced painfully up his entire side. He spat garbled curses, but found words hard to form, struggling backwards against the barrage of attacks and the interference of his own untied shoelaces. When he could get his arm around, he took another swing, but was already stumbling with no clear end in sight. It was pretty unlikely the attempt would do any real tide-turning.

"Yeah, you like that, huh!?" Zeffer hissed, laughing meanly as he took another few jabs, using one arm to block Aprife's weak retaliation. He was fueled by pain, because the whip ******** hurt, even through clothing it stung like a ********, and now the blueblood was getting all riled up.
"Come on a*****e, don't give up yet." He taunted, giving Aprife a nice hard zap right in the stomach, though it was only enough to jolt him a little, rather than knock the wind out of him.

Who could like being shocked? There was barely a moment to consider it. In fact, all the yellowblood really heard was the sound of his friend's voice as it grew more frenzied somewhere beyond the loud echoes of the attacks as they shot through his body. It wasn't until a momentary reprieve that he understood anything at all, but it hardly lasted long enough for a retort before the jab caught him in the stomach. Jerking back, he clutched his free hand over the area, willing much more so to give up use of one of his arms before taking another hit like that.
"Who said anything about giving up??" he finally managed. He was already flipping his scourge around in his hand, and the hard plastic handle became a club in its own right. 'We'll see how you like it!' he thought, thrusting his newly created weapon into the blueblood's stomach like he'd done to Aprife moments before.

Zeffer barely managed to sidestep the attack. He was finally starting to wear the yellowblood down, and his increased efforts were amusing, to say the least. A fight fought in desperation was far more entertaining to him, and he made the snap decision to push them closer to the edge. Aprife was a good sport, at least...he'd done battle with trolls far fiercer anyway, hadn't he?
"MmMMMmMm, I LOVE IT." Zeffer cackled, and darted past Aprife, slapping him right on the a** once he had passed. It was a particularly hard swat, and he was laughing his stupid head off as he rushed away again, knowing that it was a move that would get the yellowblood dancing.

Unexpected, yes, but surprising, it probably shouldn't have been. A swat with one of those batons was harsh any other time, but right on the a**, a move he didn't suspect at all, hurt even more because of the surprise (and really, the yellowblood wasn't all that padded back there). It stung, he yelped, and it probably looked pretty foolish and embarrassing as he scurried in the opposite direction even as Zeffer did the same. "Cheap shot," he hissed, rubbing his a** with one hand and gripping his scourge tighter with the other. It wasn't cheap, not really, and it wasn't as if this was some kind of serious competition with specific rules to uphold, but Aprife couldn't think of a better retort in the heat of the moment.
Well, the distance certainly wasn't getting anything done, and at least now the stinging was starting to dull and subside... Without any clever recoveries, he toddled back in the blueblood's direction before quickly sidestepping and flicking the tails of his weapon, hoping to catch him off guard with a slap from the side.

"You mad?" Zeffer grinned as he skipped about spryly, still laughing over what he had done. It wasn't a thing he would have done to anyone but a friend, luckily for Aprife, and he watched his friend try to recover with a look of gleeful mania in his eyes. When the yellowblood turned to come at him again, he decided to slow down in an attempt to tease. He let him get closer and closer, but as he shifted to run, he saw that he had miscalculated. Zeffer let out a yelp as the tails of the whip connected, and he darted further away, whimpering like a fool.
He wheeled around quickly to land a moderate blow to his opponent's shoulder, his smile just a bit lessened as he tried to ignore the sting of the whip. "Do it again!" he mocked, amused at the fact that Aprife had landed so few blows. They were starting to tire out, that much was apparent, but he was sure they could drag it out just a bit further.

It felt good to land that hit and he'd cracked a vigorous grin for it, and that look hardly faded, even when he took another blow to the shoulder it only blipped momentarily. There was an obvious rift between them during this fight, he'd been struggling a little to keep up, and he wondered briefly when he got a chance to if that last round of the battle royale would have ended between Zeffer and the greenblood if she hadn't been there to help deal damage to his squirrely friend. Either way it didn't much matter now, the past was the past, and this was an amiable game more than anything. Aprife was close to done, and he could tell Zeffer was beginning come off his stride, too.
His breathing was a little rough as he retaliated with words, "Oh, I will! I hope you're ready to give up." Looking to make good on his threat, he took another swing. There was nothing but air in his path as he did, though, and it looked like his promise would fall flat, after all. s**t. He was wide open and it was likely he wouldn't recover fast enough to avoid whatever the blueblood had planned for him next. There was still a smile on his face, yes still, one worried with a sudden knowledge that he was likely finished, but sharp regardless. His gaze swiveled to where Zeffer was, eyes catching and holding him, playfully challenging even now.

"Me? Not at all!? How about you?" Zeffer barely dodged the whips as they went whistling past, and landed a medium-powered swat to the yellowblood's ribs before stumbling away again, panting and laughing. He spun around quickly, expecting the yellowblood to be hot on his heels, though he could tell Aprife was running out of steam as well.
"Guess you're gonna be missing out on some of these juicy secrets." He taunted, slouching slightly as he tried to catch his breath. He couldn't tell if his friend was done for or not, but he figured that his jeering would get him an answer soon enough.
