There's a common misconception that anyone who is pro-life is a heterosexual, Republican, Christian, and a whole line of other things that have little or nothing to do with abortion.
Anyone can be against the termination of a preborn human life, no matter their political views, religion, or sexual orientation.
This thread is for discussion concerning those who are of the LBGTQ (Lesbian/Bisexual/Gay/Transgender/Queer) community and are pro-life. If you are of this community, come discuss why you're pro-life. If you're heterosexual, you are welcome to join in discussion but remember respect and adhere to the Guild rules.
Me, I'm bisexual. I grew up in a Calvinistic home but that had little affect on my pro-life stance. I first saw a sonogram when I was three, so I always knew when a woman is pregnant she is carrying a baby. It was not until I was seven or eight I first heard about abortion, but it was years later that I learned people actually do that, and deny it being a baby. For me, I've always been pro-life because I understood abortion is murder, and natural law declares murder to be wrong. I'm proud to be a part of the small but existent LBGTQ Pro-Life community. Everyone deserves to live, regardless of colour, religion, addiction, or sexual orientation.

I actually love the LGBTQ pro-life community. I think that it's entirely fitting. Your community has, unfortunately, suffered a lot at the hands of those who don't think of you as people with basic human rights; it entirely makes sense to me that you should be able to relate to the unborn, as the same can be said for them.

Yeah, there's also speculation that a "gay gene" could be detected in utero, which likely would lead to abortions based solely on that, which is all the more reason for gays to oppose abortion, not support it.

I hadn't been on this account since forever and I know this thread is a little old, but I hope you don't mind if I make a reply.
I agree that anyone could be pro-life. I am not religious or political for that matter in anyway, so those claims that people make are already false.
As for the LGBTQ community, I really never figured out my sexuality and all that. Either way, I support that community as well. They are people that deserve rights and a chance to live, be happy and make their own choices.
I always felt that abortion was taking another life. I can understand some cases such as life and death where both the mother and baby are in danger, but not because they don't want the baby and deny it is an actual developing human being. To me, abortion is making a choice not just for yourself, but for another human. It is their life that is being destroyed and that can't have a say it in.
I have to say that it is horrible how people would get an abortion if there was a "gay gene." That just sends a very bad message. It reminded me of a article I read about a condition called CAH and how a lot of females that have it are more likely to become lesbians/bi or possibly trans and how doctors where suggesting women who might pass that condition to find out if their baby (if female, as it effects females more due to the amount of male hormones) has CAH to force the pregnant woman to take this risky drug. They would possibly suggest to have the baby aborted too (they didn't say that in the article, but I couldn't be surprised as how far they are willing to go). That is just sick. I sends the message that anyone who is gay or different in anyway is "bad."
They weren't even concerned about the babies health, but worried about their sexuality, how they look or gender identity.
That's all the more reason I think people should stand by pro-life and why there needs to be more support from the LGBT community.
You can find the articles typing CAH and Dexamethason.
