Running down the stairs was certainly not a new sound in the household, but Constance’s constant murmuring was certainly began to wear on Moose’s nerves. Any time she would offer to help the little dream she would be waved away in favor of the cub doing it herself. So, while Constance flitted from room to room, the young woman started to busy herself with finishing up the snacks for the evening. Hopefully Ourania was calmer at home than she was everywhere else, and the two wouldn’t get into too much mischief. She smirked. “Yeah right. I’ll be lucky if I have a house left by dawn.”
Constance, meanwhile, was trying her best to make her room look the best it could! Moose was going to be sleeping downstairs tonight so the girls would have the whole second floor to themselves! It was only a bedroom and a bathroom, but still! She tossed a huge pink knitted blanket on top of Moose’s mattress and patted it down, trying her best and failing at making it look “neat”. Toys? Check. Games? Check. Sn- “Tabby! Leave Janet alone.” She walked over to the dresser and snatched up the pale dew, holding it as far away from the scraggly cat as she could. “You need to be good today, okay? Ourania’s coming over and you can’t scare her, okay? She’s my friend.” Constance leaned in to press her nose against the cats before traipsing off back downstairs.

She could barely contain her excitement. Ourania stood at the door to Moose's home, and reached up to ring the doorbell. She peeked back at the car idling by the road. Grinning, she waved back at Corny, who sat and watched from within the car upon the kitten's insistence. She was going to be a big girl and do this all my herself. Besides, she'd had enough of mommy's warnings. 'Be on your best behavior, Oura. Be respectful to Moose, and do what she tells you. No yelling in the house. No running in the house. No going through all the drawers and cabinets.' Blah blah blah. She could be a good girl! When wasn't she?!
Yet, as she looked at the door, her patience wore thin. She stepped back and raised her face to the sky. "COOOOOOOOOONSTAAAAAAAAAAANCE!! I'M HEEEEEEERRRRE!!" she hollered out in her loudest voice, ears twitching to listen for her friend's footsteps or voice, clutching the handles of her overnight bag tightly. She was quite oblivious to her mommy's strange act of banging her head against the steering wheel at the yell.

Near simultaneously the two women of the house paused and turned towards the door. Moose wiped her hands off on a kitchen towel, taking one last peek at the baking goods before moving towards the door.
Constance, however, was flying down the stairs by this time, having heard the bell, and then Ourania. "I'M COMMMMMIIIINNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG." She nearly tripped on the last few steps, snatching onto the rail to swing herself out onto the carpet. When she looked up, her eyes caught Moose's concerned face, and her smile brightened.
The little bear fumbled with the latches on the door, grumbling and growling quite loudly until she was able to fling it open and toss her arms around her friend with a loud squeal. "Ourania!! Yay, you made it!"
From the doorway Moose caught sight of Corny and couldn't help a chuckle, giving in to a wave before she turned her attention to the kitten. "I hope you like cookies, Miss Ourania."

Ears perking at the sound of her best friend's voice, Ourania was bouncing on her toes by the time the door was thrown open. Her own shriek of delight filled the air as she was engulfed in the larger girl's embrace. Barely taking the time to give Corny a wave, who was passing Moose a 'good luck' thumbs up, she looked up at Moose with wide eyes. "I love cookies!" she squeaked, tail coiling in the air. "Branka makes lotsa cookies, 'cause she don't like nothin' else. She crabby, but makes yummy cookies."
She turned to Constance and grinned eagerly. "Where we gonna sleep? Where your room? Where the potty?" Suddenly, she paused and glanced back at the retreating car. Right. She was supposed to do something else first. Pulling herself up like a proper lady, she looked up at Moose again and wrapped her arms around the adult's waist. "Thank you fer lettin' me come over, Miss Moose."

Constance's girls whipped around like flying yarn as she squeezed her friend, trying her best not to break the poor girl, all the while totally oblivious to Moose cringing in the background because of all the shrieking. Please don't let the neighbors be home. She was sure any moment the door to the other half of the duplex would slam open and Mrs. O'Leary would box their ears. Moose gave Corny a wave, a part of her wishing she was in the car with the other, but just as quickly she was smiling and hugging Ourania. Damn it all, weren't the worst troublemakers always the most adorable? "You're welcome here anytime, sweetie." She gave her a little squeeze, and ushered the two girls inside. "Constance, take Ourania upstairs and show her around while I get things ready downstairs."
Constance nodded and took Ourania's hand in her own. "Well, we're gonna sleep upstairs, in the bedroom! It's small, but really bright and colorful, and the potty is upstairs too! But, there's a little room over there, in the laundry room. It's just a potty, though, no tub. And that's the kitchen, this is the living room and OHMYGOSHYOUHAVETOMEETJANET." She could barely breath under the weight of the realization. How could she not have shown off Janet yet?!
"Come on, you have to come upstairs! I've got someone you have to meet!" She took off, bounding like lightning up the stairs, stumbling on the first step, like usual.

Giggling happily, a soft little purr rumbled as she chased after Constance. She held tightly to her pack as they flew up the steps, eyes wide to take in as much detail as she could. ...She would forget it within the hour, but that wasn't the point.
"Janet?" Ourania perked her ears up curiously. "Oh! I gots someone fer ya to meet, too!!" She looked down at her bag and grinned. She had snuck her newest sister out with her. She was so much fun, she just had to come along and meet Constance!
Well, she thought she'd snuck Astrid along. Corny knew quite well of the kitten's plot with the dew, and was crossing her fingers that Ourania would take as much care of Astrid during the sleepover as she did at home.

Constance's striped toe-socks grasped the carpet as she mounted the stairs, heading at a slower pace towards the open bedroom door. The walls were painted a muted tan, and much of the furniture was that of an older woman, such as it had been when the single bedroom home was meant for only one occupant. One side of the bedroom, while having a bright pink cover, was still very much adult, but the other side, with it's twin size bed, was as girly as ever. It was covered in toys, dresses, hats, and an assortment of feathered things.
"Mmm'hmm, see?" She walked over to the window sill, where a small, white dew was soaking up the little tifs of a breeze that were filtering in through the screen. Constance picked up the little pink pillow it was sitting on, and held out her 'sister'. "This is Janet! Say hello, Janet!" She grinned, bright as the sun, and tried to sneak a peek into Ourania's bag. "Who chu got?"

"Ahh! Your room is so cool!" Ourania squeaked, gasping happily at the multi-themed room. She scurried to inspect all the things that covered the bed, oohing and aahing over this and that.
But then there was Janet! Ourania blinked once with curiosity at the dew, but then smiled brightly. "Hi Janet!" Then she spun and dug into her bag, and pulled out a heavy golden dew. "This is my sister, Astrid!" She set Astrid next to the other dew and smiled happily. "This'll be a fun sleepover!"
As for Astrid, she gave a trilling ring of excitement as she was yanked so unceremoniously from the bag. Set next to another dew, she gave a bright ring in greeting to the strangers.

The dew that was "Janet" gave a little chime, seeming to crawl within itself at all the activity around it.
"Oooh, you have a sister, too! This is so cool!" Constance sat "Janet" back on the windowsill, and turned around, dipping her head to get closer to the larger golden dew. "Hey, Astrid. You're really pretty." She was almost as bright as Moose's necklaces! "Do you think they'll be friends like we are?"
The larger child turned so that she could see the two on the sill, and felt an absurd amount of pride in the act. She had a sibling; a real one! This was going to be so great, and Ourania was going to be a big sis, too! That was even better.
The smaller dew gave a ring in answer to Astrid; a lighter, barely audible sound, but as curious and content as ever, now that it wasn't being held by excited hands.

Ourania pursed her lips slightly before realizing what was missing. Astrid was one the bare sill! Her hand shot back into her bag and yanked out a shirt of hers. She turned it into a nest and settled Astrid into it before placing her back on the ledge. "There!" Gasping with delight, she turned to Constance and grinned. "Sure they will! They gotsta! Lookit how neat they is together!" Silver and gold. Pretty in the sunlight. "An' when they grow, they can have cookies with us!"
Astrid rang happily from Constance's compliment. With Janet's soft ringing, Astrid lowered her own tone to match and rang out happily. There weren't any other dews around her house for her to sing with. Just a bunch of strange females... Ourania was really the only one she got to spend any time with anyway.

"Perfect!" Why hadn't she thought of that?! Even if Astrid wasn't her sister, everyone loved cuddles, even if it wasn't people cuddles. "They'll be the bestest of friends and we can play with them and show them all the best games! I really hope they get bigger, soon. I keep wanting to give Janet a hug, but momma says it'll hurt her." Constance gasped and nodded. "Oh, right! The cookies! Do you think they'll be alright up here, by themselves? Or should we take them with us downstairs?"
The poorly gender associated dew caught the change in Astrid's tune and picked up a steadier rhythm. Even though "she" spent a lot of time around Constance, it missed the sound of other dews and the simplicity of them.

Ourania grinned happily, and nodded with all the confidence in the world. Of course Janet and Astrid would be friends! "Yeah. Mommy tells me be careful with Astrid. Astrid likes explorin' with me!" Looking to the dews, she giggled. "They not gonna go nowhere!" She looked to the dews and put her hands on her hips with a stern expression. "You two be good. No trouble makin'!" Then she laughed and spun, grabbed Constance's hand, and hurried out of the room. Cookies!
Astrid perked her tune up and down, but otherwise was quite pleased to have someone to ring with. ...Ourania couldn't hold a stable note to save her life right now. Her ring turned lighter as though to laugh when Ourania told them to stay put. Where would she go without help?
