Name:
Yamane, Kazuo
Personality:
Kazuo favors joking and easygoing conversations. He feels that talking about negative emotions will give off a negative air of sorts, and avoids weighted conversations at all costs. He doesn't like people being uncomfortable in his presence and will try anything he can to make them relax. If someone is unhappy, he will do what he can to make everything better, even if it's none of his business. Kazuo is also pretty outgoing. Socializing is a must for him because he hates being alone, which sort of gives him a tendency to be dependent on others. In addition to that, he has the tendency to be careless, or at least acts like he treats situations carelessly. He'd rather the rest of his life be stress-free and fun...like a child's life, considering he acts like a child, and thinks like one too, including doing pranks, making trouble, and listening to music whenever he has the chance. If you ever do get him to have a serious conversation, he might seem like a completely different person, and it will keep him down for a while. He sometimes fears knowing too much, because that could make things more difficult. It is easier to be careless about things if you don't know everything about it. This is why he may come off as oblivious. Often times it's by choice.
Kazuo generally doesn't like to give labels to people, and won't make judgments until he knows them sufficiently enough to do so. This isn't exactly a good thing all the time though, since he ignores social hints and cues that he likely shouldn't.
Sacred Gear:
Pheromone Manipulation: Pheromones are chemicals that come from the skin and mouth. They cause people to be attracted and submit to the user. Kazuo's ability is not limited to only girls - it also works on boys. It is by no means strict mind control because the person is still conscious of what he or she is doing and has the ability to resist it. It mostly works on normal people who aren't aware of his power. People who have superhuman abilities like him will probably have a better chance at resistance. People that are purposely trying to resist or know about and are suspicious about his power could overcome his pheromones easier. It's like having a crush on someone, but then realizing that your feelings are being fabricated and used.
However, Kazuo's pheromones are very short-ranged, probably needing to be within arms' length for someone to breathe them in and be affected. If he is touching the person, his power works better. Even more if he kisses them, but Kazuo would really prefer not to do that unless it's an emergency. If he really, really, really pushes his power, the person will fall asleep due to overdose of soothing, along with Kazuo. He doesn't have endurance in this power, and if he strains it, he'll fall asleep. Like, he just passes out without warning. This happens because his own pheromones accidentally overcome him as well as the other person. It gets quite annoying, actually. His power wears off on a person within a couple of minutes if he doesn't keep using the pheromones, and it is pretty limited. He'll probably be totally screwed if he just falls asleep in the middle of a conversation, so he is very careful when using them. Plus, he doesn't wake up afterwards. It's like being in a coma for an hour or more, depending on how badly he overexerted his power. There's one more weakness. Kazuo's spell is instantly broken if he becomes flustered. Like, if the person he was controlling had suddenly reached over and kissed him, he'd probably be so surprised that the spell would break instantly.
This power could be used to extract information, distract enemies, and cheat at poker. Also, his power tends to work better because he is fairly attractive. And on a side note, he claims that he would never use his pheromones on someone that he actually liked in that way. As for regular abilities, he has the strength of an average teenage boy, but he is quite nimble, being thin and on the shorter side at five feet and six inches.

Short Bio:
Kazuo was never alone. His mother only worked part-time, and he had an older sister to keep him company while his parents were busy. They were middle class, liked to keep things simple - they did go on fancy trips once in a while, though. Their father was almost too obsessed with giving them the perfect childhood and wanted to give them everything that they ever wanted. He wasn't able to spoil them as much as he wanted though, because his job didn't have the greatest pay and their mother had back problems, which kept her from working full-time. Kazuo liked all the fancy vacations, but he didn't care. As a child, he and his sister had vast, active imaginations which always kept them occupied. His sister was three years older than him, however, and grew up much sooner than he did. In fact, it was about age thirteen when she began to change.
Kazuo's parents had closed ties with their neighbors, the Reizei family, through work. They had a son, Yu, who was just a year older than Kazuo's sister, Makiko. The families would get together at least once a week for a dinner, or just an outing. The kids grew very close - eventually, Kazuo saw Yu as something of a brother. Well, not exactly. As they got older, Kazuo noticed Maki leaving late at night. He stayed up one time to figure out what was going on - Yu and Maki were sneaking out together. Sometimes he would follow them, to see exactly what they did. But it was normal couple stuff, deep talks, star-gazing, occasional hand-holding, hugging, and kissing. But then, when Kazuo was twelve, fifteen-year-old Makiko fell ill. It hit their family hard and Yu as well. Things grew tense. The Yamane family was upset, and needed someone to blame...and they knew about Maki sneaking out, so they blamed Yu, and the Reizeis soon grew apart from the Yamanes.
Makiko died after a month of being ill.
Kazuo's father drowned himself in work, and his mother didn't work for a whole year after that. Their family was still uptight with the Reizeis, so seeing Yu at this time was not an option. Kazuo was alone. It was his turn to sneak out, and him and Yu had a long, long conversation about Makiko...and never talked about her again. After a year, the Yamane family returned to normal. It wasn't the same without Maki, but everyone pretended that it was. Their father took them on more trips than ever and recently they moved out to get away from the bad memories of their house and into a newer house. The only downside was that it was away from the high school that Yu was attending. Kazuo was going to be enrolled in Kuoh Academy.
